We have a tribolt lock which was installed by Godrej technician in 2017. The box of the lock says that it’s manufactured in 2016 ( I have the box of the lock).
On 10.01.2023 at 5:00 am, the lock got stuck and we were unable to open the lock from inside or outside. We called the emergency helpline[protected] number several times with no response.
Finally with brute force we opened the lock from inside which has damaged the lock.
At 9:30 am Godrej contacted us and we called for repair. A technician came on the next day and said nothing can be done as the lock is damaged by us. We discussed on why the lock got stuck and he said a spring got broke and hence it got stuck. Some old models of tribolt has this problem he added. As we felt that it was the lock’s manufacturing problem that resulted us in forcefully opening the lock, we asked for an escalation and he gave a mobile number of a company executive.
The executive said she would take up the matter and asked us for the bill. The contractor has not given us the bill but we have the box and hence manufacture date, product id etc.
The executive said she can’t help if there is no bill and we just have to buy a new one.
Some questions
1. What should a customer do in case of such emergency where we are stuck and emergency helpline does not respond?
2. there problems with old models ( as said by the technician) isn’t it a problem that godrej has to fix?
3. We had the break the lock because of a problem with the lock (spring broke). Isn’t it covered under warranty?
4. Why is godrej asking for bill? Is it mentioned anywhere for legality that bill is a must for warranty? Can’t you check from the lock and box if this is genuine and manufacturing date?
5. What’s the quality process that godrej follows to ensure that such springs are not intact?
Really disappointed with godrej and worried about other tribolt customers.
