Issue of renewal cheque

Due to some medical problems prior to thatf date in 2018, my father couldn't encash that cheque amounting to Rs 1, 01, 000 which was it's maturity value and now when we have found the cheque and gone to Canara Bank they told to reissue a renewal cheque to these date in August, 2022...
