[Resolved]  Honda 2 Wheelers India — noida (sector 8) service center (parkash honda) harassing customer for their own fault: refusing to change faulty battery within warranty

Address:Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, 201301

I have a serious concern on the service that is being provided by honda service center located in sector 8, noida (Parkash honda). Therefore, i need your help and intervention to sort out the matter at the earliest. I have already discussed the concern at honda's toll-free number[protected] and it was suggested to email the issue.

I have a honda activa since 2004 (Mh 12 dh 9895). I got its battery (Amron) replaced on 3-oct-2017. The person at the billing counter gave me a hand-written bill as there was no electricity at that moment and the billing system was not working. He told me that i can get the printed bill anytime later. When i asked for the warranty card of the new battery from him, he directed me to a person who issues parts in the basement. When i asked for the warranty card to the person at the basement, he asked me for the bill so that he can give the warranty card. I showed him the hand-written bill, but he said that he needs a computerized printed bill as per the process. When i explained to him that their billing system was not working due to electricity failure, he said that he could not give me the warranty card just like that and i can come over and collect the warranty card anytime later once the billing system is working. Even though i tried explaining him the reason for keeping the warranty card with me, he did not budge. He also said that in case of any issue in the battery during warranty period, there should not be any bottlenecks, since it is recorded in their system that the battery was replaced and it can always be traced back from the handwritten bill date. Therefore, i left the place after this discussion.

Few months later the battery started giving problems as it was not retaining any charge. Therefore self-start of the scooter stopped working. Since the battery was within warranty, i approached the service center (Parkash honda - sector 8, noida, up) again to change the battery. Initially, they agreed to change the battery and later on said that they have charged the battery and there is no need to replace the battery as the issue should get sorted out permanantly. He confirmed that it is a permanant solution and not stop-gap arrangement.

The battery worked fine only for a few days and again started giving the same problem, that is, it could not retain the charge and self-start did not work on 9 out of 10 times. On 20-feb-2018, i took the scooter again to their service center for the next service and asked them to change the battery this time as the battery was giving problem right from the time it was changed. They asked for the battery's bill and the warranty card. I explained to them that i have a hand-written bill with me as they themselves could not issue a computerised bill due to power failure, and also that they themselves did not handover the warranty card (As explained above). Service center people said that they will not replace the battery without the warranty card. They did not budge even after explaining that they themselves did not give me the warranty card on 3-oct-2017 even when i had asked for the warranty card. Now as a customer, i was given an assurance that in case of any problem during the warranty period, the records can be traced as everything is in their system. The service center people (Including their senior mr. Sachin) are saying that it was my fault that i did not take the warranty card. How is it my fault when they themselves refused to give me the warranty card (As they wanted a computerised bill which could not be generated due to power failure)? It is the complete fault of the service center.

As a customer, i am unnecessarily being harassed for the fault of the service center. I have not taken my scooter back from the service center and it is still lying in their premises. I have always been a proud honda customer and all my family members are owners of honda vehicles (Both 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler). I am sending this message you to intervene and get the issue sorted out at the earliest. It is not fair that first they refuse to give me the warranty card saying that the records can be traced in their system, and now when there is actually a need to trace the records, they are asking for the warranty card. How can i provide the warranty card when it is still with them as they had refused to hand it over to me?

Please look into this and get the issue sorted out.
