Idea Cellular — Non activation of service/ poor speed of internet

On 14th March 2016 I recharged my IDEA number – [protected] with a 2g night pack of Rs 17. Even after recharging I was till getting a speed of 1 KB/s (from my RS 249 2g Unlimited plan after full speed quota is over).Then when 2g night pack was not activated even after 1 hour, I recharged with a 3g night pack of Rs 46 thinking that I will let go of the previous loss of 17 rupees. But even the 3g pack did not activate till 3:30 am, ( as i was still getting a speed of 1 KB/s ) after which I slept. In the morning I see two sms from idea one at 5:52 am and the other at 6:07 am informing that the nights packs are activated. Imagine Idea is now activating the night packs AFTER the pack is already supposed to be expired.

Then a long journey calling and emailing their customer care began which finally ended today after I had a talk with their senior executives at ([protected]) after calling approaching the consumer court helpline. The jist of our conversation is - if the system at Idea shows that you internet pack is activated then IT IS ACTIVATED. It doesn't matter if the customer is getting a speed of 10 kilo bits/ sec i.e. 1 KB/s after recharging with a 3g plan. MEANING the idea executive made it clear to me that my MONEY WILL NOT BE REFUNDED even if i get a speed of 1 KB/s on 3g. they say they can't refund money because it's a network fault... Whose network is it anyway. Idea ka hi hai na? then why can't take be held responsible for their poor service? why should customer pay the price for their network faults?

IT is very clear that IDEA is trying to convey that it holds no responsibility for its pathetic service and the customer is free to be looted and scamed as per their desire. I wish the government took notice of such poor practices of the telcos...

Hence, if you are ready to take risk wasting your money (cos it doesn't always happen) on 3g or 2g to get a speed of 1 kB/s then sure - go ahead and use IDEA.

what an IDEA o[censored]LLU BANOING sir ji. Instead of saying sorry and compensating the customer their are saying that no money will be refunded... which means its a risk to recharge internet on idea... idea ki kripa hui to apko speed milegi nahi to agar 1 kb/S bhi mil rahi hai to aap kuch nahi kar sakte...

Obviously I do have have any more patience left to file a case in consumer court for a matter of 80 rupees but but One thing I have realized that Idea customer service is the worst of any company that I have dealt till date. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - is their motto!


p.s - unfortunately there is no option to give a minus rating. anyone who has had an experience with reliance customer care will understand what I mean when I say Reliance customer care is 100 times better than IDEA. period!

as per our telecon with your customer service associate on 18th March 2016 i wish to affirm that i do not want to push this matter forward as your customer service has already shamelessly stated that it will not refund me the money for internet not working (after 1 hour o[censored]sage) on 16th march and non activation of gprs packs/slow speed of 1 KB/s (each excuse given as per convenience of the multitudes of representatives that I interacted with) on 14 th march 2016.

for anyone reading this conversation be aware that i have been an idea customer since 2011 but these days IDEA seems to be working like this - do a recharge and - your balance will be immediately deducted (strangely enough no technical fault will ever occur in that department) but if your pack doesn't get activated or your internet doesn't work then you will be conveniently told that its a technical fault - IDEA CANNOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE SAME - hence DON"T EXPECT ANY REFUND FOR THE MONEY YOU LOST ON RECHARGE!

I hope this cheater company sinks!

Stop writing these standard reply messages! My problem may have been addressed but it was not resolved (at least not per the customer’s satisfaction).

When I say my pack was not activated your representatives say that it WAS activated as you were using internet and getting a speed of 1 KB/s. When I tell them that the 1 KB/s speed i was getting was from my RS 249 2g unlimited pack (after full speed quota over) they say no it was from 3g night pack. When I say how can 3G speed be so low (1 KB/s) they say network fault. When I say i got the confirmation” your GPRS pack is activated” for 3g night pack at 6:07 in the morning (i.e. 7 minutes after the pack expiry) they say network congestion. Tell me one thing your does your network congestion only happens in sending activation messages of pack cos there has never been a single delay in deduction of money sms whenever i activate a plan.

And don’t try to fool me with all your rubbish excuses... I have been using Idea internet and night packs since 2011 (appx 5 years) and probably know more about them than 90% of your customer care executives!
