[Resolved]  Idea Cellular — Non-intimation/appraisal for High intl charges and High bill

My mobile is no [protected] and I am a corporate customer (SIEMENS) of Idea network . I made a request to Idea customer care on 23rd May for activating my International roaming from 2nd June to 10th June-14 as I was leaving for Thailand on 3rd. I was not been apprised about the high international calling/air rates at that time and one showing on your site are not what I have been (though i supposed same to be applicable).

I received my e-bill on 3rd July for an amount INR 31, 902/-. I was surprised and shocked, i checked for the airtime and found that charges were generated even during the time when my phone was out-of-service. Moreover, I checked for Charging rates and I was surprised to see that INR 115/min for outgoing and INR 50/min for incoming were charged (exorbitant charge rate in today's throat-cutting competition).

Please be informed that I did not get proper signal all of the days during my 06 days stay, my phone was out-of-services for almost 04 days. I was continuously making calls to Idea Customer care in India (through a local number) about no-service and they always apologized stating server down problem and blaa blaa blaa...

After i complained to these idea customer people sitting in my office compound, they just re-rated my bill and presented me with a revised bill of INR 14, 000/-. This is still not justified. Charge rates are still very high even after this and far more than what supposed to be as in today's market. Moreover, in hindsight, had I been informed of such high rates, either i would not have asked for IR or i would have used other source of communication. Even, if i had been told about above supposedly re-rating plan, in that too, i would have said no to opt it (as charges still be very high).

Now, it is almost 2 months past and I am getting regular calls for paying above outstanding and i am keep saying the same thing that amount is still not justified and i can not pay that much. Why should a un-informed/ill-informed customer be penalised for ?

I request you to please look into the matter and sort it in a amicable way.

I would like to bring into the light few important points as enlisted here:


1. Services on my above number were barred/blocked without any prior intimation (thro Call/sms/mail) to me. Please be informed that above was for my offcial purpose number and I was using it for last 07 years (MNP from Vodafone to Idea). My all clients and suppliers have above number. Therefore, it has rendered me a huge loss on this front which i cannot even describe in monetary terms.


2. I was even not informed about my huge outstanding till it crossed INR 27, 000 and that too when I called up the executive and asked why my number is not working. Only, then I was told that my outstanding has reached that high and therefore my services on this number have been barred. Why i was not informed (thro call/sms/mail)


I am not able to decipher the complete episode. First, you keep customer in complete oblivion for everything untill it becomes a pandora box and then you open this box to customer to loosen him up.

As my issue has still not been resolved and as I am going through a mental repercussions therefore I am left with no option but to go to Consumer court. My 'Right to Information (to be Informed)', 'Right to be Heard (to representation)' and 'Right to (seek) Redressal'
are flouted here.

I would like to know that whether above issue has been settled ?

I am continuously getting phone calls from some IDEA office stating that approval for Rs. 5, 000 settlement is obtained against my case. But, when I ask them to first give me a confirmation in written or thro mail, she says that confirmation will be given only after deposit of 5000 amount.


Is this the genuine call from Idea for Settlement or is just a fake/prank/dubious call ?


If genuinely case is being settled then please let me know. But, in that case too, I would like to have an advance confirmation before.

I am regularly getting calls from one of IDEA customer care office and asking me to deposit a lumpsum settled amount of INR 5, 000 against above issue. However, when I ask them to first give me a confirmation of it thro mail, they refuse it and say that the confirmation will be provided only after depositing the above amount.


I do not understand whether it is a genuine call from IDEA or some intermediating agents are doing prank to make some commission ?


Please let me know whether above issue has really been settled ?

I am getting no relief and settlement instead I am now Getting threatening and harrassment calls from this IDEA recovery team and they now have started abusing me. It is totally un-acceptable and un-expected on part of Idea.
Idea people are now pretending to be Aadhar or some other department person and calling my near and dear ones and started harassing them. What is all this nonsense. And When I call them back on same number, they do not reply clearly. Please stop all this.Dinesh[protected]
