India Post — Timing for registered post

I visited post office at subashnagar jammu for registered post letter at 3:00pm but they refused the same on the pretext that they accept letter for registered post only up to 2:30pm on daily basis. When i insisted that timing for regd post is 4:00pm they asked me to go to head post office for that. I want to know about the timing of p. O located in cities like that at subashnagar jammu ant if it is 4pm then action should be taken for denial of service.
