India Rehab Center — scam in the name of donations | |||
I got a call from one volunteer named kirti on 14 march 2018, regarding the donation for a 6 months old baby abu, with burns on the face and body and emergency grafting surgery to be performed. I asked her to send the details as sms to my mobile number and told her if i find it genuine i would help, for which she agreed and said the same. I received the details of website: www.indiarehabcentre.org. I checked the website and could not find proper details to trust. The phone number given is an invalid number[protected]. Obviously, how can we trust a website which does not furnish proper details and contact number also. So i did not do any donation. The next day, 15 march 2018 at 19:37 ist, again i receive the call from the same lady (Kirti) inquiring me for the donation not done. I informed her that i could not find the details genuine so am not ready to go for any donation. I am a working professional, busy with work still at office at that time. But still i had taken the call and spoke with her normally with respect. But she sounded demanding and not ready to leave the call. So i asked her why she is demanding, and this does not sound good from a person asking donation. And when someone is not ready to donate, they must accept and leave us. Instead she started again and told that she is not demanding but not ready to leave the call. I told her that she cannot force / demand anyone to donate and not to waste my time. She yelled "what is the hell with this stupid lady". I confronted her by calling again and she says she has not spoken that. When i said i have the recording of the call and is anyone supposed to speak in that manner after wasting our time. I would complaint about her and report this to the concerned department, she started yelling that i am wasting her time and i can go ahead and do whatever i want. Is this the way a volunteer speaks. From this conversation, it is very much clear that the call, website, incident and the person speaking are not genuine. Or else, she would have told me that it is my wish and my call to donate or not donate.in spite of me being busy, i have not abused or not scolded her and holding my patience throughout the call. But she instead was rude and abusing me. I strongly inform people to be aware of this person kirti, and website (www.indiarehabcentre.org) of fraudulent activities. Please be informed about this and never fall for such calls. I request the concerned department to take severe action against these people who are misguiding and playing with the trust of the people. And i would definitely file a case against her and the so called organisation now. Even I got a call today (20th April 2018) from this India Rehab Centre from a young man calling himself P.Ashu. The thing is that they also told me that the donation is required for a child named Virat Singh and sent severely burnt pictures of a baby - Although very doubtful, my heart melted to see the pictures of the burnt child, and I went ahead and made a payment of Rs.1008.
And few hours after making the donation, a follow up caller (a young lady) called me and said the child is dying in 13 minutes! - unless it gets a medication worth Rs. 5016! Then when I politely said that I have done my part and could not do anything more and requested them to try other sources, she went into the most extraordinary crying and begging for 2-3 minutes nonstop, and saying you are God sent, the child is in ICU and dying in front of my eyes, etc., on and on. I was very torn, but declined to to be able to help and ended the call, since the behavior and what she was saying seemed dubious. After ending the call, I immediately started getting a flood of whatsapp messages showing even more pitiful looking pictures of the baby, and all kinds of emoticons and messages asking me to help. Then I immediately googled for this to see if it was fraud, and found this posting.
What is extraordinary is that in the comments section, so many people received the same message one month ago for a baby named Virat Singh! And this time they told me that the child is in a hospital in Delhi, whereas one month ago (as seen from comments here), they seem to have told others the hospital was in Bilaspur, etc.
So how can the same child be in the same condition for a month, and in different places?
So I got convinced it is some kind of fraud only. Although the website seemed somewhat OK. And the persons who spoke to, or messaged me didn't become abusive, but logically this didn't seem to hold up.
I messaged back on Whatsapp and told them that it is a crime and a sin for trying to make money by showing a child's picture in such a pathetic condition, which is so wrong. This will discourage people from making donations to genuine charitable organizations (if any left today). And I blocked and reported the number on Whatsapp.
(Also note that the person whose id on this forum is $@[protected]@$h seems doubtful. He may me from the same fraud 'organization', since he is supporting it with doubtful statements.)
What a pity that people are using helpless children's pictures for making fraudulent money.

I received a call today asking for donations from women and she asked for financial help for a burnt baby named VIRAT. I said I am a student and cant help financially, but she tried to persuade me emotionally.When I said that I would be able to give only 500 rs then she said that anything below rs 999 is not acceptable.She WhatsApp a bunch of pictures of a burnt child and their pan and Income tex etc.The call was marked as spam on true caller so I was doubtful of picking up the call.But they rang up the phone continuously in intervals since morning.On WhatsApp, I didn't receive any link from which I can verify them.Then I checked this post and decided to not fall into the trap.They are snatching the credibility of real NGOs by their fraudster activities. How can a baby boy named VIRAT be burnt same for over a month? Please be aware and file a complaint to Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The same thing happened to me today. There is this guy Manish ([protected]) & Rahul from indiarehabcenter.org called me.I thought of listening to him to check if they are genuine to help as I have heard so many fake cases of NGO's. Then I was about to transfer money but my mind said lets check if it is genuine or not. I landed to this page and read all the stuff. I found the same thing. Then I said to him, let me get it verified from my father who is actually in police department and will be verifying this and then will transfer the money. He asked me "are you an educated person?" I didnt want to continue so I cut the phone. He was fake.
He sent me the following messages:
"I[censored]r mother father brother and sister dieing infront o[censored] can u do the same thing with them"
"Why are u lying i[censored] dnt have capability to help anyone u should say no, u are cursing a child one day u will must see the same situation in ur family that day u will understand the value o[censored]r joke"
"U should shame on ursel[censored] are a child of human being, dogs are better that u, who are atleast loyal towards their breed"
"U can do whatever u can, u are playing with a child life u people are responsible why people make fun of the helpless poors"
"Agar tumhari aukat nhi hai kisi ki help karne ki so u should say NO"
"Agar tumhari aukat hai ya tumhare bas ka hai to compaint karo police me jao or case verify karo uske baad hmari verification karna"
These were the messages sent by these NGO person. See the languages they are using in the name of donation.They are fake.
Please don't donate it wont go for the help of the child. It will go into their pocket and you will get money. Its a scam where doctors are also involved.

The numbers should not be protected to the registered users as this helps other people to know so that they can be aware.
I got a call too. They told me the first time that a boy called Virat has severe burns and he needs grafting the next day. I was non committal. They called me around 8 times the next day asking for money. I was in an important meeting and couldn't attend to the calls. They were so persistent, it was borderline stalking. It stopped for a month and I got a call again last month saying Virat had passed away because I didn't donate for him. They tried to guilt trip me by blaming a kid's death on me. They started naming another kid who had burns and that I should at least help this person. I told them directly this time that I was not interested in helping for which the person who called started saying I will never be happy in life and that I am responsible for their deaths and that God will never forgive me. I said I will live with that and hung the phone. It was definitely one of the most disturbing calls I have received in my life.
I also got a call from Sameer, saying that he is a Student volunteer, saying that a 2 year old child is undergoing surgery because of 50% burns. I first told him to send me details of the child/ NGO organisation. He sent me the details via whatsapp immediately. But the number he sent was reported as SPAM by Truecaller. So I blocked his number and started doing some research on the India Rehab Center and found it to be a scam. He mentioned BTRC Noida, and i researched that, but that is also filled with scams. I got calls from different number from the same person. All were showing as SPAM in TrueCaller. And he also started sending abusive messages, so I decided to stop it once in for all. I picked his call and asked him for proof that he is a student and then I will think about donating money. He started playing the blame game on me that if the child is dead, its on me. I started chatting with him in WhatsApp, asking why he is scamming people, and I can get him a real job if needed. To my surprise, he told me that he is seeing money in days, that I am earning in a year. And he immediately deleted his message before I can take a screenshot. I just advised him that Karma is a boomerang, and it will affect us one day, if not now. I still am in shock, because even if people are ready to get a real job, they are greedy and are ready to go any level.
I Received the call from Avinsh ([protected]), India Rehab Center and he asked me for donation for same baby girl which got burned, when i denied because of no satisfaction reason then he start abusing me and my family, he called me multiple times and abusing every times, can anyone take action against them so that no one will harassed like this.
Right now I'm getting call from these guys named subam mittal, he said he is from tamil nadu, the name of the child with burnings is Baby Manvi, with much hurry they are asking donation. I doubted the guinuinity of these people, so I did a search and found all these complaints. Thanks for all those who posted these complaints.

I got the same call as yours from www.ngodarban.gov.in, then from www.indiarehapcentre.org for funds for a burned child manvi's treatment and checked they are genuine or not, found these complaints. Thanks for sharing your complaints.
I too have been getting call from Daniel who is volunteering for Indiarehabcentre pestering for money about a child Manvi.I read these reviews and decided not to donate.I also recorded their calls. If its scam then these so called volunteers are very convincing.beware. Today i got this msg from other volunteer. As attached.

I am totally agreed for above this one. They are malpractice for donation. Please don't cheat with type of people. They are doing force to you regarding donation which never ever seen for this type of procedures. Please away from this type of people
