ENJOYING PUBLIC MONEY WITHOUT SUPPLYING THE PRODUCTS / NOT REFUNDING THE AMOUNT RECEIVED WITH INTEREST
THIS IS WITH FURTHER REFERENCE TO MY ONLINE COMPLAINT DATED[protected] AS THERE IS NO ACTION BY THE INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

DECEPTIVE ACT BY INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB, NEW DELHI.

India Today Book Club, New Delhi sent an offer letter to me on[protected] promising the following free gifts if I give my consent to buy 16 ( Indian Classical Music ) CD pack for Rs2000/-
1. Adidas shoes – one pair
2. Diamond gift voucher for Rs5000/-
3. Deluxe Holiday package Voucher worth Rs5000/- (two nights and three days for a couple including boarding at selected place within India)

India today being a leading magazine, with trust and faith I gave my consent to their book club, within the time frame and authorized them to debit my card account with Rs2000/- + 249/- being the handling charges in three installments. India Today Book Club promptly debited my card account on 5th September 2008 with Rs1049/- ( First installment of Rs800/- plus the handling charges)

I am yet to receive any product from India Today Book Club after that They are enjoying my money for the past 14 months !!

I sent them a letter under certificate of posting on[protected] giving the full details as well as the particulars of the emails sent to you to the email id referred to above. S. Lakshmi Narasimhan, (Subscriber No: 23987) Responding to this letter, one executive from India Today Book Club spoke to me on[protected] that the consignment would reach me within 15 days.

I sent an email on[protected] with a copy to the Editor India Today that they should return the amount debited if they fail to deliver the CD pack in a couple of days.

To my surprise they had taken the balance amount of Rs1200/- by debiting my card account on[protected] and are adamant in not fulfilling their promises.

A registered notice with acknowledgment due was sent to The Award Administrator,
India Today Book Club on 12th February, 2009. It was delivered to the addressee on[protected].

I sent another email on[protected] before filing a suit in the consumer court. To my surprise I received a reply mail from them on[protected] apologizing for the mistake and my complaint was forwarded to the “CONCERNED DEPARTMENT” and they will contact me after receiving the reply from that department. I was frequently reminding them and am receiving the same reply that my complaint is referred to the “CONCERNED DEPARTMENT”

This is another deceptive action by the India Today Book Club prolonging the settlement of dues. If I presume that around two lakh persons in India had sent money and not received the consignment, India Today Book Club can enjoy an easy money of Rs40 crores !!! Its only work is to send reply stating that the matter has been forwarded to the “concerned department” and apologizing for the mistake.

I am unable to believe the time taken by the “CONCERNED DEPARTMENT” in sending reply. There is enough sense in doubting the existence of the “CONCERNED DEPARTMENT”

It would tarnish the image of India Today group if I proceed against the India Today Book Club legally. They may have the support of media now. They should understand that The Truth Will Triumph and they may have to pay heavy penalty for their wrong path in the Court of Law.

Rs2249- + interest may not be a big thing though it is a hard earned money of the concerned individual. The way in which the public are being attracted and are being taken for a ride by a leading book club under the disguise of India Today Group should be condemned.

Will India Today Book Club return my money with interest ?

India Today Book Club — DECEPTIVE ACT OF THE COMPANY

My member-ship number ITBC08550554
The Award administrator of India Today Book Club, New Delhi sent me an offer letter on[protected] promising the following free gifts if I give my consent to buy 16 ( Indian Classical Music ) CD pack for Rs2000/-
1. Adidas shoes – one pair
2. Diamond gift voucher for Rs5000/-
3. Deluxe Holiday package Voucher worth Rs5000/- (two nights and three days for a couple including boarding at selected place within India)
Being a subsidiary of the leading magazine, namely India Today, with trust and faith I gave my consent within the time frame and authorized them to debit my card account with Rs2000/- + 249/- being the handling charges in three installments with a first monthly installment of Rs800/- and second and third monthly installments of Rs600/- each. They promptly debited my card account on 4th September 2008 with Rs1049/-
(First installment of Rs800/- plus the handling charges Rs249/-)

They have failed to forward me the 16 CD pack with Adidas shoes (herein after referred to as “consignment”) as promised by them in spite of debiting my card account with Rs1049/- on 4th September itself. Till now they have not sent the consignment even after reminding them several times through e mails as well as a letter under certificate of posting.

Adding salt to the injury, they chose to debit my card account with the balance amount of Rs1200/- on[protected] without sending the consignment and after seeing my reminder through e mail dated[protected] advising them to return the amount.

Registered notice was served to India Today Book Club on[protected] advising them to return the amount Rs2249/- with interest and costs. They have sent an email on[protected] in response to mail as under:
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
In this regard we would like to inform you that we have forwarded your complaint to our concerned department. Kindly wait for some more time and you will receive your refund very soon. “
India Today Book Club, New Delhi IS KEEPING SILENT TILL THEN.
It is shameful for such a leading magazine group in not taking a quick decision to settle the amount even after 10 months! I do not know that how many customers are facing such problem with this company.

Central Government should intervene in the matter and has to do a thorough investigation of India Today Book Club which is enjoying customers money without any fear. Individuals have to spend a lot to fight against a corporate which is indulging in deceptive acts. Government alone should come forward to protect the customers.

All efforts should be made to close the corporate if found guilty. Such severe punishment should be an eye opener for other companies of this kind.

India Today Book Club — COMPANY'S DECEPTIVE ACTS

India Today Book Club owe me 2249/- plus interest from[protected]. I lodged an online complaint on[protected] and after some time I receive a reply stating that they re interested in solving the issue. They had debited my card account with Rs2249/- and miserably / wantonly failed to supply the consignment as promised by them.

Many e mail reminders and notice under certificate of posting as well as under registered post with acknowledgment due evoke no response. Their repeated reply is that the matter has been referred to the concerned department and will settle the matter after hearing from them.

It is their department which is sleeping for quite a long time or it may be the tactics followed by the company to enjoy the public money.

If the company has received money like this from a minimum of 2 lac persons, it should be enjoying more than 400 lac of rupees without interest !!!

The company's records should be completely investigated / scrutinized and immediate action should be taken against the company for any misappropriation of public money and the money due to the individuals should be sent to them immediately after verification by the Central Government.

I am yet to receive the book alongwith assured free gifts, viz Round-trip air ticket, Reebok Watch, etc.The Tel. No.[protected] does not respond. Start rs.7000. But I will call to your care center no.[protected] today they told me that I don’t know about this matter and I don’t know when the draw will open. Sir my request is that please don’t cheat any customer if your item is not sold I will not suggest any person to buy any item with India today book club your care center executive behavior is also very rough please verified my recording what your customer care person talk with me. They booked my order TELESALES/0GA[protected] of rs. 7498. Please cancel my order or resolve my problem.

      Dear Sir/Madam,



      Ref : Scam by Indian Today


      I saw your advert in Hindustan Newspaper on 17 March 2010 and placed order for the Reebok Kit. This I received and had no problem with the transaction.



      Then on 12 April 2010, I received a call from your sales team that I have been selected for a prize draw. I was also told that if my purchase was more then Rs 10,000 then I will be put in a draw and could win Rs 12 Lakhs, Rs 8 Lakhs, Rs 6 Lakhs, Rs 4 Lakhs, Rs 1 Lakh and Rs 60,000. The minimum guaranteed win will be Rs 10,000 per Gold or Diamond Coupon. I decided to purchase the Samsung Mobile phone of value Rs 12,498.00 using my Credit Card ( Bank of India Master Card ). The ID number for this purchase is[protected].



      On 17 April 2010, I had several calls from your office ( Tel Nos :[protected] and[protected] and was told that I have been awarded Rs 70,000 and how I would like it to be paid ie by cheque or demand draft ? I told him that I would like the payment by demand draft. Then I was told to avoid tax on this amount, I could purchase an item of value Rs 20,000 and then I would get the full amount which was Rs 70,000. So, I decided to purchase a Microwave Oven of value Rs 21,094 using my wife’s ( Nutan Kashyap ) credit cards ICICI Visa – Rs 7,098 and Bank of India Master Card – Rs 14, 196. Once I gave my card details to your office and once the transaction was accepted your representative did not give me an ID number and hung up. I tried several times after that to call back but could not get through as no one at your end picked up the phone. Normally, previously I use to get a confirmation call but on this occasion for this transaction I did not receive anything.



      Then only I realised that this whole thing was a scam and I have been cheated. I called your customer service[protected] and was told that the above transaction would come on your system within two days but as far as your representative knowledge NO SUCH DRAW TOOK PLACE ! Immediately, I cancelled my whole transaction ( ie on both cards ).



      Diary Of Events



      20.04.2010 – I was told that my booking is confirmed ( ID NO :[protected]. I told her about how I have been cheated and then she gave me a complaint no 1459617 and was told that I would get a refund within 72 hrs.



      22.04.2010 – I spoke to your office again using my other mobile ( [protected]) at 10.55am. Then I was given one more cancellation no 462290 and was told that I will get a FULL refund within 21 days and this ‘cheating’ matter has been passed to the higher authority for investigation.



      24.04.2010 – Amit called me at 5.15pm from[protected] and after I explained how I have been cheated, he said he will call back but never did.



      25.04.2010 – I called[protected] at 12.33pm and spoke for 7mins and 25 sec with your representative Mr Pawan. He told me that some one will call me back with full explanation on the following Monday.



      26.04.2010 – I had a call from Nadeem and gave me an another reference no 468705 and told me that my case is being examined and I will have an answer in approx 3/4 weeks.



      27.04.2010 – I had a call from Anurag[protected] claiming that he was a Head of Department and now I have won Rs 3,75000 and my cheque no was 869875 ING Baysa Bank. He also informed that I had won a Dell Laptop of Rs 80,000. Once again I was told to purchase an item of value Rs 14,696 – luckily I did not purchase. I explained to him how I was cheated previously hence I needed time to think. He was very sympathetic.



      28.04.2010 – At 3.31pm I had a call from[protected] and I spoke for 17min 36 sec and I narrated my whole above cheated experience. She was to call me back after examining the case, but she never did. At 3.55pm I had a call from Mr Naveen[protected] saying that he is calling from the refund department and he was looking into our case.



      29.04.2010 – 10.50am, I had a call from Mr Anurag wanting to know my decision about his offer to me on 27.04.2010. I told him that I will only book if you sort out the previous problem. Then at 1.48pm, he rang again wanting my final decision. I told him NO.



      30.04.2010 – 4.55pm I called [protected] Mr Sahjad. He checked on the system and told me that NO complaint has been raised and NO orders has been cancelled.





      I would like to request The India Today Group to look in to my case and cancel both of my orders[protected] &[protected] and refund my money.



      I am having sleepless night as I have been cheated by The India Today Group.

      I feel all the India Today Group ( Today Shop ) are jointly doing fraud and stealing money from innocent people like myself.



      This is a very serious matter and I will not take this lightly. I will take severe legal action and will involve other publications to investigate in to this fraud/scam cleverly masterminded by India Today.

      India Today Book Club, Today Shop — Cheated

      I had placed an order with Today Shop on 27th Feb 2009 and was promised that the product would be delivered to me by maximum 3-4 weeks. But it has been over 8 months and now they are telling me that they are yet to dispatch the product. This what they tell every time I have been calling them up. Add to that they dont pick up the phone majority of the time. The payment was made on 27th Feb itself. This is total fraud. Can anybody please let me know the right forum where I can put forward my complaint and these cheats be brought to task?
      For others just stay away from this cheat shop..

      I was also cheated by these people similarly.

      I too comlained at all the email id's as you mentioned as well as all the avlbl telephone numbers that they had given or is in the net. But to no avail. How come India today cheat like this? Why is the govt. not doing anything against these people? There are several out there being cheated at various levels by these India Today.

        I have booked cd from india today they had offered holidays and airticket for that i have paid 1000/ but as per promise they havenot send me reebock sunglass again i had requested several times for flight but they always given some excuses again for holidyaysk .I have paid draft as requested and they havenot given either holiday and not returning back my money which they have taken as a draft i am enclosing draft which they have taken We Never expect such behavior with India today like big group.so kindly help me to get money back,I am mentioning my membership no.ITBC Membership No: ITBC09979427.

          On 14th April, 2010, I got one phone call from INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB with offer to purchage a Whirlpool Magicook, 25lt Convectional Microwave Oven, by paying just Rs. 7098. I have paid the same via credit card when transfered the call to IVR payment gateway. The payment is made successfully, and I have to wait now to receive the product in three week.

          Till today, the product is not dispatch from the ITBC office. I got many call from the ITBC about not able to dispatch the item in GUJARAT, for not available surface line courier service of BLUEDART in anywhere in Gujarat??. I have contacted with BLUEDART Service, who have verygood surface line network in Gujarat. Ahmedabad as well as in my City. But dispatch person were not agree with my reply. He told that, we are going to proceed for refund. I said, "OK, Please refund. if you not able to dispatch, but just you reply the same on email, so I can sure about written confirmation of refund, and go to local market to purchase the product",

          On email, what they replying is attached herewith, where they are refuse to give refund., while on phone, they are refuse to send the product.

          India Today Book Club — Non delivery of my Order after 45 days of full payment.

          Dear Sir,
          I have never came accross an Organisation like India Today Book Club.I had booked an Order since 2nd February'2009.The amount have been debited from my Credit Card Account.But till today they have not delivered my Order.All the time thay are sending mail with excuses.The trail mail will speak.In the last trail mail they had promised that if I dont get my order within 7 days they will take necessary action.As per their mail 10 days have passed and surprisingly I had paid my money 45 days before writing to you.

          India Today Book Club — goods not delivered after 45 days of payment

          Dear Sir,

          Finally I have to use an external forum to ring a bell in the ears of India Today Book Club.

          My membership number is ITBC0915692, under which I had placed an order by paying online on 4th May 09.

          Till date, even after 45 days, I havent received the sun glasses i ordered.(order no 0GA[protected]

          Repeated calls to your call centre, and your courier company followed by emails has given me nothing but false hopes and stories, ranging from dispatch details, to fictitous courier waybill numbers, to loss of package, to re-dispatch of goods.

          However ITBC is not able to confirm on a time frame as to when the delivery would take place.

          I request you to either deliver what I have ordered, or arrange for a refund,
          Hope thats really not asking for TOO much

            I have ordered a Reebok Track Suit through Bag it Today. They offered for a free travel voucher of 5000 Rs. In the invoice there was a unique code and a phone number[protected]. I called the number and they asked me enter the unique code on http://www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm. The website did not accept the unique code. I called the number thrice and each time they have asked for 48 hours time. Then I emailed them. Everytime they are asking for 48 hours time.

            Please help me and others who get hoaxed by this company.

            Special Offer to Ten People in India — Purchased Products not received

            I trusted Living Media when the India Today Book Club made an offer to buy Samsung Phone, Philip Home Theatre System, and Fuji Digital Camera at a special price. I placed order for two packages, Orders Numbers[protected] &[protected] on 16-SEP-2009, and my credit card was charged right away. My dealings were with a person named Dalip. I was told that I will get the stuff within 10 days. After 15 days when I tried to call the number provided to me[protected], all I got was recording that my call is important and I should hold. I must have spent over 2 hours trying to call them at various times. I have sent several emails to the email address provided, [protected]@in.com but no one has replied to my emails.

            I am shocked that Living Media will provide such a poor service.

            I had ordered for MTV sungasses from Bag it today. After several phone calls, during which their call centre continued to give me assurances that the same will be delivered in 2 days/4 days/5 days/etc.
            Now one person told me that the gist is exhausted and will take 4 -5 weeks to be delivered.
            their call centre is pathetic. no body offers to pick up. Whoever picks it up is confused what to say. He listens to you and then keeps you on hold. You continue to hold the line and finally give up after 5/6 mins.
            It is shameful that a company of this stature can stoop to such cheap cheating practices.
            And when they are unable to supply me the item, i continue to receive adv mails for purchase of the same item!!!
            THIS IS CHEATING!!

              I Bought a reebok sunglasses through india today book club through their call center from Noida.They said i will get free holiday voucher with this but when i received my sunglasses then i got to know follwingthings.
              1. Holiday voucher was not free we have to pay 800/- rupees for the same .
              2. need to do lot of formalities to receive that vouche.
              3.When i did all those formalities i sent the form which i received to the concern on mentioned address .

              It was written i will receive holiday voucher after sending the form in 15 days but now it has been more trhan 2 months i have not received that voucher and now afetr this also thay need 45 days to book my trip so if i do not receive by the month of may i may not apply for this they are clearly cheating with customers.

              times book club — non-receival of voucher and gifts

              i ordered britannica 7 cd-pack encyclopedia from india today book club through a full-page newspaper ad in hindustan times which had an reebok gift n holiday voucher along with it,on payment on delivery on 18/12/08.
              i recived my pack after a month of placing order on full payment with confirmation that i'll recieve my gift n voucher after 2 weeks ,but it never came.i placed complaints with their customer support but everytime they had the same answer that the gift had been already been dispatched and they will interviene into the matter if not recieved but nothing actually happened even after consistent complaints even after 3-4 months.

              India Today Book Club — Non receipt of promised Vouchers

              In an around 13th december i received a call from india today book club giving details of exciting holiday voucher alongwith retrun air ticket free. I already had a holiday planning for 22nd jan-31st jan 2010 so i showed interest in the voucher. The voucher was Rs 3180 for 2 nights 3 days stay at 65 destination alongwith return air ticket for one person. I asked whether i will be able to book club mahindra in shimla during 26th jan to 29th jan the tele caller confirmed me that club mahindra is also on their list. Further confirmed that whether booking can be done for my intended period of travel. He said yes why not.. I immediately booked three vouchers by credit card for two other friends also who are accompanying me with my tour. Till now i am not able to book voucher due to their long process which was not told to me at the time of booking. Now If I cant book the holiday for this period the voucher is invain for me. Please help me out to cancell this booking and ask them to refund the money to me. I am going through mental stress since I booked this voucher. Their people are also not replying to my complaints at all..... They have cheated me and done fraud with me

              I had booked a set of books with India Today Book Club vide a tele call and was promised a free travel voucher worth 3500/=. Along with this I was informed to go online and claim the free travel voucher number (ITBC8443) and post it to Premier Sales Promotions Pvt Ltd - Bangalore.
              The form was downloaded and duly filled and posted to Bangalore in Nov 2009.
              Till date there is no sign of the Voucher being received, on calling the phone number of Premier Sales[protected] we are put on hold with a voice recording saying" our representative would be there with you shorthly"
              The Company Premier Sales Promotions Pvt Ltd is a fraud.

              i would like to bring the following information about itbc sales and cheating

Mr.Amit of ITBC has talked tome over phone and sold me one samsung mobile (pmnia pro) for 14,598/- and he has told that i will be getting reebkk track suit and watech free, holiday voucher. also i have won Rs.15,000/-. and entry in to superprize. also told that i am in top 2 of top 10 customers.
              2. one week later Mr. asin from ITBC called me and told that i have won Rs.1,00,000/- .so, i have to pay 14,598/- towards tax.this will give me one free gift I.E whirl pool water purifier (reverse osmosis). about the money , i will be getting it in the last week of may.

              3. after one week again i got call from itbc only saying that u have purchased whirl pool water purifier for 14,598/-, but because the courier service is not able to deliver the goods, your amount will be redirected to the credit card with in two weeks. then i told him that it is free gift as per mr. asin. but he denied and told that that is not afree gift.

              4.they are not answering about the Rs/-15,000 told by amit ,one lakh as told by Mr.asin and if they return the amount of 14.598/- to my credit card , who will pay the service charges?
              5. i have got voice recorded in my mobile about the above conversations.
              6. this is how ITBC people are cheating the customers.

                I am not receiving my India Today subscription from Feb 2010.There was a lot of irregularity in the delivery towards the last quarter of 2009.This year they have gone over the top.I am very worried since, i have opted for 5-year subscription. This is my 2nd 5-year subscription.I am a senior citizen and it is not possible for me to keep reminding the area office at Hyderabad or waiting for a reply or some action with suitable compensation.Any email sent to customer care is not responded until it is filed in consumer complaints forum.I hope India Today wakes up to this.

                Yes, I completely support this. I am 100% sure that Prevention are capable of making these kinds of frauds. I had taken a 2 yr subscription in the month of Nov 2009. There was a juicer free with the 2yr subscription plan. I tried mailing them several times. Their customer care is pathetic. The call never gets connected. The mailing facility is worse than the call facility. It's like there's a competition as to which service is more pathetic. I get lame answers each time I mail them. Everytime I get an automated response to the mail which says I will get my 'free gift' within 3-4 weeks from the day I receive their mail. It's been 1.5 yrs and i have still not received the gift. If it is dispatched, are the courier companies gulping it down or it's vanishing. Once, I get an automated response saying the above and then I get the response saying that the free gifts are over and that they are arranging one especially for me ( like hell i believe these fraudsters) and then again when I send a firing mail, they send me the same response saying its dispatched and I will be getting the gift within 3-4 weeks.

                It's waste of time to go behind these people. Prevention people don't care about their customers. I even mailed the editor-in-chief and I still didn't get any reply. This shows how much they value their customers.

                The wise thing to do is take the issue from the magazine stands than to subscribe if you don't want to loose your cool.

                I am sorry to say that these numbers don't work at all. I am damn pissed off with Prevention and waiting for my subscription to get over. I took the 2 year subscription thinking I will be getting my free gift. These people lured everybody showing those free gifts but I doubt how many people acutally got it. I have sent mails to nearly all the people working under Prevention including Sanghamitra, the Editor in chief. It's of no use. They are a bunch of lazy people who only know to send automated mails. Not answer calls and nothing else. Even if the call gets through, you will be told that it's wrong number, they will give some other number which won't work. You can back to that lady (who snubs at you, mind you !!!) again gives the same number and it goes in circles. I have tried everything and I am so frustrated :( X-(

                    I had ordered for a Philips Home Thearter on 07.04.2010 by paying a total amount of Rs.7,598/- (Booking ID[protected] with India Today Book Club as when I received a phone call from ITBC saying that by ordering this product I am qualified to win a guaranteed cash gift of Rs.10,000/- to 60,00,000/-, and told me that I will be getting the ordered product within 15days by blue dart courier. Till today I have not received the product and now they are asking me to go to buy further more product so as to get my previously ordered product, and also they are asking me to pay nearly Rs.15,000/- as a tax amount.
                    I request to cancel my order and refund my amount immediately.

                    I had booked an order for Rs. 999 in Jan but have not still received it. How can I sue them.
                    I had ordered an Art d'nox set worth Rs 5600 in August 09, which has not been delivered till date, i.e., 5 Oct 09. Have received emails from the company stating the product had been despatched on 10 Sep 09, but the tracking number provided is not recognised by the Blue Dart tracking system. I also received a membership number from them, which the ITBC website itself does not recognise!

                    They have a contact number[protected], but noone answers the phone.

                    This company smacks of fraud and has cheated me of my money. I will hesitate to make any web orders from now on.
                    I have not received my gift items vide my order no [protected] and subsequent complaints no - 142200 and 4243017.
                    i have ordered for 12 best sellers books in the month of august and made the through credit card ,but i regret to inform that till date i have neither received the goods nor the free goods for which i was told . so kindly do the need full .

                          I had subscribed India today with Adidas offer and the company has promptly sent me the gits of Reebok Tracksuit,shoes and Adidas bag but till date i have not received any of the subscription of the book. when enquired about the same ther was no proper reply and one fine day a call came from +[protected] from one gentleman Mr.Vikas for some promnotional campaign i had informed that i hae not received the books for which i hae paid kindly let me know when do i get the same. The call was transferreed to One Mr.Harry operations head ( He claimed to be the operations incharge) and said if i order a samsung mobile worth 10 K plus they would release the books of six months which is kept in hold which was not communicated by anyone when the book was ordered , i tried to explain the scenario and the person incharge Mr.Harry was so arrogant stating that it is not possible to send and when said about filing a complaint, The exact meaning for the query was "Nothing can be done to this brand as the Brand is much much bigger than the consumer or customer" in a very sarcastic and insulting way. I have the conversation recorded in my mobile and trying to get help from tech savvy people to upload the same asevidences to the complaint.. If Press and magazines behave like this wasy i do not understand democracy and democratic rights of the People. I would request you to kindly take up this issue to penalise the arrogant indiiduals and the group for employing or outsourcing such sensitve jobs to i responsible individuals.The discussion happened on 13th aprtil 2010 timings between 13:30 to 14:00.

                            India today people are fraud.
                            I bought a watch from them paying only handling charges.After receiving the watch wasn't working.
                            I got a new battery for the same still it stopped working.
                            Got it to watch repair shop and found that the machine is having complaint.

                            Can get the watch repaired for another 400 bucks.

                            India today book club is a fraud company. They are looting public money for their interest by cheating Indian publics hard earning money. I have been cheated by this group for Rs 23492 in the following ways:

                            On April 04, 2010 I got call from Indiatoday that I have been chosen for Rs 60 lac sweepstake draw in which Rs 10000 cash will be given to you as consolation prize for sure. But you have to place purchase order in between Rs 7000 to Rs10000. I ordered for Rs 7098 for Kodak camera+reebok track suit+wrist watch (booking ID[protected].

                            On April 05, 2010 I got another call from Indiatoday that I have been chosen for Rs 60 lac sweepstack draw in which Rs 20000 cash will be given to you as consolation prize for sure and your name is in first five candidates. But you have to place purchase order for minimum Rs 20000 and you had already done purchasing for Rs 7598 So you need to place order more than Rs 13000. I ordered for Rs 7598 for Whirlpool Microwave oven+holiday woutcher+reebok wrist watch (booking ID[protected] and Rs 7598 Philips hometheatre+DVD with FM radio and video games+wrist watch (booking ID[protected].

                            In December 2009 they called me to offer Reebok shoes for Rs 1198 along with wrist watch. I placed the order (order no.:0GA[protected]. I ordered for size no.8 and they send me shoe of size no 10 with no wrist watch in packet. I called their customer care and as per their suggestion that they will refund the entire money I returned back the shoes by currier.

                            Till date they had not supplied me Kodak camera, they had not supplied Whirlpool Microwave oven, they had not refunded for returned shoes. They have given only Philips home theatre with broken wrist watch and poor quality DVD with no FM radio and no video games as they promised. When ever I call to their customer care they say you will have to wait again for 3-4 weeks.

                            For consolation money they say we will give you four gift vouchers each Rs 5000 for diamond jewelry in place of cash. This is not a fare business.
                            I request Indian public please do not purchase anything from them. Otherwise you may be one of the victim like me.

I have filled the Voucher Form with Destination details as per there directions and also sent the DD for Rs.899 on 20/10/2010. Then I have called up on 11/11/2010 and spoke to Maheshwari / Shailaja B.J. they have confirmed that the bookings will be done from January 2011. I am trying since Jan '2011 to till date, there is no one to pick up the call on [protected]/4870 or sometimes we are closed please call between 10am-5pm Mon-Friday. Can't we take some serious action on this company immediately. As still they are promoting their Offers through Bag It Today @ http://www.bagittoday.com. This should be banned immediately or else many customers like us will suffer.
                              This company is big time fraud... The worst ever experience I had in my life... I have got some vouchers thru shopping at Max retail & suppose to get movie ticket... Have tried twice both the time they have accepted my request first & told me within 2 days a call will come for confirmation of movie tickets of my choice but it never happened tht way, both times they have given me option of some shady movie hall which is far from my place... Either they could have told me when I called tht we can't provide u the option or if we will then the shady places like they suggested I would have never ever taken this voucher... This was a big waste for me... This is what I call cheating customer with empty offers... If max retail have not offered me the same then also I would have shopped there but now I really have big doubt on the brand & brand promise... I am really disheartened with this worst experience.

                                India Today Group — Non Despatch of subscription gift

                                I have subscribed Good House keeping from India today group on 08 May 2009 under Customer Id 91582573 and subscription Id GHK1578105. My subscription started on 01 Jun 2009.

                                I was promised that my free gift of "A Set of 2 Exclusively Handcrafted Hot Tea Cups & Saucers" will be sent to me in six weeks. However I have still not received the gift even after eight months. Every time I ask the magazine people they say that it is out of stock and will take three to four weeks to dispatch and then nothing happens.

                                I account it to denial of customer rights and demand a renewal of subscription for another one year since the company has failed to send the gift within the stipulated time frame.

                                      My self Mr. Shiv Kumar Thakur had placed an order for reebok Fitness Kit through Credit Card transaction vide SBI card No. [protected] on 14/03/2009.On 18/03/2009 again he received a phone call from your concened Service Desk that as last transaction has not been successful, another transaction is desired.But Mr. Shiv kumar Tahkur realized two transactions and also got two parcels at his door step.As he was not interested in the 2nd parcel and customer desired only one Fitness Kit , the 2nd shipment of Fitness Kit was returned back and not received at all by Mr. shiv Kumar Thakur.
                                      But the reversal of payment for the 2nd transaction on the Credit card has not happened till date.In this context, Mr. Shiv Kumar Thakur has written a complaint Registered Letter Dated 2nd July'2009 under Registered Letter 3328/dated 07/07/2009.
                                      Please resolve the case and do reverse transaction of amount 3199INR for the customer ,otherwise there is no wayout left then to proceed for the Consumer Court.

                                      Dear Sir
                                      In December last year in response to an advertisement by Living Media India Ltd., and India Book Club, I purchased a set of Music CDs’ worth Rs. 2499.00. This included Rs 1999.00 for the CDs’ and Rs. 500.00 for processing the gift voucher. The deal included free 3 days holiday at the place of my choice. I bought the CDs’ vide invoice no. ORA[protected] dated 31st December 2008 against the order no. OGA[protected]. On receipt of the CDs’ and after contacting ITBC I was given a unique code no. 97314505A[protected] and ITBC membership no. ITBC08813145 and I was told to download the free gift voucher from the internet and give the details to IndiaHotelReview.com who will arrange the hotel booking etc. The voucher was downloaded and e-mailed to IndiaHotelReview.com who then activated the same and asked me to send details like PAN No. photo and a draft for additional Rs. 800/- as processing fee. As requested by IndiaHotelReview.com all these details and a draft for Rs, 800/- were sent to them on 22nd January 2009.

                                      I was told to give at least 30 clear days for the first preferred booking date and to avail the holidays before 10th of April 2009. I sent the request on 22nd January for 1st preferred date as 23rd March giving IndiaHotelReview.com clear two months to arrange the accommodation. When I did not hear from them for more than two months I telephoned them several times without any success and sent emails. I was finally advised only on 20th March that no accommodation in any hotel is available and that I can get the accommodation only after 10th July. I subsequently expressed my inability to avail it after 10th July since we are leaving for USA on the 6th June and would only be back in December 2009. I requested IndiaHotelReview.com to refund the Rs. 800/- that I had sent to them. I have not received any reply from them so far.
                                      I made several calls to ITBC also and every time I was promised that they will look into it and inform me soon but no one so far bothered to reply.

                                      Firstly Living Media and ITBC made the process so cumbersome that an ordinary person, not having access to the computer and internet, cannot easily avail the holiday package offered by them. Secondly there has been no response from them and they have failed to arrange the promised holidays. This seems to be a way to make additional Rs. 1300/- and getting away with it. As per recent ad by ITBC the same CDs are now being offered for Rs. 799/- instead of Rs 1999/-

                                      I shall request you to please get me the refund of Rs. 2499.00 plus Rs. 800.00 from Living Media for the breach of Promise. In addition I shall request you impose fine on them for hoodwinking public by giving a false promise.

                                      I have bought a sun glass of reebok from India Today Book Club. At the time of purchase i was told that i will be getting the Holiday Package totally Free. But with the product I have not got any free voucher. Thereafter I have contacted the ITBC for detail. Good the information that I have to Claim from their WEB with Some number. Which was not their in my Invoice. After waiting for some time i got that no.

                                      When i went to the web page to get my gift a long procedure was written with at least 2 time post communication has to be done. But the surprisingly for the free gift they have asked to me to Pay Rs. 800 by DD as service charge. I don't know how its free when we have to pay Rs. 800

                                      Moreover it was mentioned that if after booking if canceled we have to Pay Rs. 2000 to 4000 as charges for cancel by way of debit or credit card.

                                      This means that once we pay Rs. 800 for booking they will again rob us in the name of free asking more money to be paid for some XYZ charges. This is clearly a cheating because before booking the product it was clearly mentioned by customer care person that no additional charges is required to be paid.

                                      Kindly some one please guide me how to go for consumer court against such malpractice done by one of well known business house in media

                                      Living Media India Ltd., India Today Book Club — SALE ON WRONG AND FALSE INFORMATION

                                      This is to bring to your kind notice that I was sold A TRAVEL PACKAGE from India Today Book Club over phone, order date being 12th May 2009 and Invoice Date being 15 May 2009. Order No for the same is OGA[protected] and Invoice No ORA[protected]. I was sold the package on wrong and false information that I could avail the holiday of 7 days in two to three installments and also that the same could be availed on public holidays.

                                      But when the time came for me to redeem the voucher from their Bangalore office..Premier sales Promotions Pvt. Ltd., both the promised were denied and they said that the entire holiday package could be redeemed at one go and also that the same could not be availed on public holidays. On this I got quite angry and insisted on refund of my money of Rs. 5943.00(Rupees Five Thousand Nine Hundred and Forty Three Only) incl of Service tax & Cess of Rs.552.69.

                                      I am now forwarding you all the mails exchanged between Bangalore office from where I had to redeem my voucher, Delhi from where I was sold the package and Me - the CONSUMER.

We had a tel con on 10th August 2009 and consequently due to wrong information from the Sales Team, I had requested you to kindly hold my Voucher Form and do not process it for further for generation of Coupon.

                                      I had also lodged a complaint for the same to the Sales team in Delhi, my complaint no. being 173674 against ORDER NO. 0GA[protected] on the same date. They asked me to get in touch after 2 days. So today, that is on 12th August 2009, I called to the sales team and they asked me to call the Bangalore Call Center for a mail in my name that my form has not been further processed and that it is lying in Bangalore office.
                                      So I request you to please mail me the same information, that the form is not processed due to wrong commitments from the Sales Person to me so that I can forward the same mail to Delhi Sales Team and get my refund processed.

                                      Then I called the Delhi team at[protected] and they confirmed that they have received the cancellation request and that they would refund the amount in next 28 days, that was on 14th August. so accordingly I should have got the refund around 10th September 2009. For my satisfaction I called them again on 24th August, 2009 to confirm from them that I would receive my cheque in next one week but they said me again the same thing that they would refund me the amount in next 28 days which comes to be 22nd September. so again I called them on 18th September and now they said that because I had requested the refund through cheque they would be needing some more time as they require approval from the concerned department. I argued that this should have been informed me on day one or before giving me a time duration of the refund amount but they didn't adhere to my complaints and insisted for some more time. Seeing that they are least bothered about my pains, problems and harassment, I finally asked them to give me a latest date by which I would be receiving my cheque, so they said on 5th October. On the same I wrote another mail to the Delhi team, but to my utter surprise they are least bothered to reply back even once or call if they required any further information. The mail was as under

                                      Following the trail mail and consecutive talks and confirmation from you dated 24th August, 2009, I am still awaiting for my refund amount of Rs. 5943.00 (Five thousand nine hundred and forty three only) which was supposed to reach me within 28 days from 24th August, but I was informed yesterday that it would take another 10-15 days.

                                      Is this you way of commitment and that to selling the entire thing from a salesman, who does not know anything and he is not even sorry for the same. On the other hand he is selling me another stupid idea of yours. And isn't it your responsibility to inform me about the delay. How can I believe you now that my money would be refunded and why should I?

                                      Who is going to pay for my mental harassment and interest on my money lying with you.

                                      Don't play or fool your customers because you yourself are one of the customer to someone or the other. And I sincerely hope something of this does not happen with you...and if it does you would understand my pain for cheating for my hard earned money.

                                      And as per our talks which was a mere waste of my precious time, you have confirmed me that the amount in cheque would be reaching to me latest by 5th October 2009.

                                      And I sincerely now hope after having a word with you that you face such problem from one of the stupid companies like yours and see how you react and go by it.

                                      Moreover you people have not also bothered to reply to my mails and calls. Keep going like Government owned companies where it takes ages to pass a cheque.

                                      Also take note of my mailing address so that now you dont have any lame excuse that we did not have your address. ENJOY THE GOVT JOB.

                                      Now comes TODAY, that is 30th September,2009 the day I am forced to finally file a compalint against them to the Consumer Redressal Forum.

                                      I again called them, as by now I realized that they are not serious and least bothered about Consumers, and to my utter astonishment they are now asking me to return their book before they would return the Refund Cheque. I again argues that this requirement must have said to me the very first day of my filing a request of refund but they have no answer to it. The person, Mr Negi was insisting and insisiting that "IF YOU WANT YOUR MONEY YOU WILL HAVE TO RETURN THE BOOK". On this I said that "AAP KOI EHSAAN NAHI KAR RAHE HAI...", but he is such a shameless person that he banged the phone.
                                      I also said him that wasn't it your duty to inform me for the same, when I am calling you then you people are giving one excuse or the other to refund the amount, isn,t it your responsibility and duty to give a call to your customer and especially when I have been calling them at every step. Had I not called them today, I would not have come to know about their GOOD INTENTIONS and would not have taken this step of filing a written complaint.

                                      I have already wasted lots of time, energy and money . I bought the package as it was offered from INDIA TODAY GROUP, but I fail to understand that they can be so unprofessional. I know the amount at stake is not too big, but with wrong and false promises things sold and then on complaint no one adhering to it in the right spirit, I am compelled to ask you to come between us.

                                      I sincerely hope that this episode would be adhered to at your end at the earliest.

                                      As of now they have not bothered to reply to any of my mails sent to them nor given a call about the reasons for the delay, whatsoever.
