Dear Sir,

I have purchased a Mobile phone online from IndiaToday Bookclub site on 5th Sept 09. I have done the full payment also.I got the mail stating that your order has been dispatched on 7th Sept & you will receive it in 2-3 days. but still I have not received it. its now 3 weeks from the date of purchase.
I have traced through India Today Book club & the representative said, its lying with Dart Mail. on the Dart Mail side there is only one no.[protected], which nobody is picking up.

Request you to please do the needful. The payment done is worth Rs. 9500/-

    Hi,

    I had ordered for a couple of watches from India today book club during the 2 week of February 2009 and the product has not yet been delivered to me yet.

    My Membership number is ITBC09871325 and i have paid an amount of Rs 2150 including delivery charges on my credit card. The product was supposed to be delivered in 3 weeks max but was not done. When contacted I was told that my address was difficult to find (what an answer!! I got my passport to the same address excuse me!). They said it would again be despatched but they asked for a different address so I gave my office address lest they come up with one such reason. I again waited for for more than a more but the product never came. So contacted again and they said there was some technical problem and they would despatch soon. I again waited and waited and received a call from the courier person and he was saying that I should pay the amount upon delivery!!! What crap???? I had already paid for this and told him so, but he said he was supposed to collect, since there are issues he is returning the product back to India Today Book club, i didnt have any option.

    I contacted customer care again and they were asking my credit card statement which i produced and its going to be another 2 months since i sent my statement to them and the product has not yet been delivered yet as promised!! I have written n number of emails and no proper response.

    I want my money to be credited back to the same credit card account. I want to go to the office in person but not sure where. 7 months is long enough!! Is there any other way I could get back my money!! I dont want to do any business wiht these people and have been telling about the same to my freinds and relatives.I live in bangalore. Is there anyway i could get rid of this problem?

    India Today Book Club — Product not delivered since 7 months after payment

      Purchased a pair of shoes. The company sent me shoe pair of dissimilar colours, mean each from different pairs.
      The company is not aplogetic of such unprofessional service and not taking any initiative to replace the wrong product with a new one as orderd using their logistics.
      Senior managers are unavailable to listen to complaints. A group of persons claiming to be customer care executives parroting like robot.the Copmany would do well to use an IVR system rather than employing these people.

      The company executives are not available either in the helpline numbers or by mail.The company probably believe in anonymity.

        I lodged this complaint with consumercomplaints.in in July, 2009 and received a mail from the India Today Book Club asking for various information as mentioned above. I ordered a watch online from the India Today Book Club and regret having done so. All I am doing is chasing up with them for the delivery and the only response they have is that they have forwarded my mail to the concerned department and I will be hearing from them soon.
        I would like my money back as well as an additional INR10,000/- for having called at least 30 times as well as many, many emails and the sheer harrassment that this reputed company has put me through.
        The India Today Book Club seems like a scam and should be blacklisted. The number of complaints that I have come across online are numerous.

          I had placed an order for Complete History of the World Book, which promised Free Reebok Wrist watch & and a free air fare coupon worth INR 7, 000 by paying a price of INR 2, 199 (incl. INR 199 for handling). I have received the book and the wrist watch on 29 Aug 09. As instructed earlier, the Coupon redemption code has to be keyed in the website www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm (as mentioned by Ms. Sushma, sales representative, India Today Books Club when I called on 31 Aug 09 at 1045 Hrs IST). But to my surprise the said site does not exist. I also tried again calling the customer care twice, but no one responded. When the remittance was already credited to India Today Book Club, why am I unable to fetch the site. In this scenario, if you are not able to log on to the site, one is sure to loose the holiday voucher. This simply seems to be an eyewash. There are already 2, 463 complaints against this company. Has the company ever thought how this in turn going to affect the reputation of the company? It's one kind of cheating.

          You are requested to look into the matter on priority basis, otherwise the matter will be put forward to Consumer Forum, media coverage and definately it's going to affect the reputation.

            Sir,
            THE INDIA TODAY given half page ad in DECCAN CHRONICLE newpaper on 26th.Sept 2009 that JUST PAY Rs.2999/- and get Reebok kit worth Rs.9395/-they given Toll Free No.[protected] through this telephone no. I get touch with them and ordered the above Reebok Kit Worth of Rs.2999/- .
            I paid through ICICI credit card Rs. 3199/-{Including Rs.200/-order handling&delivery charges etc.}.
            They sent me SMS on 30/09/2009 that my order no OGAO90070117 has been processed after that no comunication.I telephoned {[protected]} but no solution. I sent email to [protected]@indiatodaybookclub.com but no reply.

              I had booked orders vide booking ID no. [protected]in first week of June'09. I was promised that the material would be delivered within 15 days.I kept waiting till the 1st week of July. Upon enquiry, I was informed that the material was on hold because of instructions from me. I informed theCutomer care cell that no such standing instructions were issued by me and they may very well deliver the consignment. Since no actions were taken, I sent mail, which they responded to, promptly. But till date, the material has not reached me.

              Meanwhile, I have wrote quite a few mails. They have beenn responding with their regret letters and applogies, every time promising for a fast solution. But, it seems to be a never ending process. Pl facilitate

              Letters to India Today Book club and their response is being enclosed for reference.

              India Today Book Club — Consignment undelivered yet

              Despite couple of reminders through mails and through phone, no action has been taken so far. Their mail states that the complaint is being forwarded to the concerned department which appears to be a pacifying statement to linger on the issue. Which Department ???? yet to be known.

              Moreover, on telephone, the pacifying commitments are made by some Mr. Amit, viz. "You shall receive the consignment by Saturday". The irony is - two Saturdays are already past - Which Saturday he was talking about?

              In case ITBC is unable to take any action, then it would be fair to refund back the money Rs.3199/- (with interest) that was credited to their account in the month of April, 2009 through my Credit Card.

                  When called on Wednesday i.e. on 1st October, 2008 one Mr. Kapil told me that your unique code is not activated and will be done within 48 hours. So when trying to logg the same today i.e. on 4th October, 2008, I could'nt get the connection. When called again today for the same, one lady says it takes one week to get activated, whats happening nobody knows. Why dont you'll train your customer support people properly.

                  Rediculous to see that India Today people have recruited such dumbos in their organization. Please if you'll have any vacancy I am ready to join your firm. Please offer me the job and see that there is any complaint or no.

                    Hi,

                    I had ordered for Kodak 10 mp camera from India Today Book Club in June'09. I made a payment of INR 5348.00. I was promised by them that the order will get delivered with 2-3 weeks maximum. After 3 weeks, I started inquiring about the order and they used to keep giving excuses like -system is having some problem, Item is not available, etc. Even they could not provide me the Invoice no.

                    After not receiving the order for 2 months or so I asked them to refund my money as I had lost trust in their services. In support of that I have provided them the credit card statement as required from their side. They have not given me any clear idea as to when I would get my money back. I have sent them a lot of reminders but in vain.

                    Indian Today Book Club — Not receiving the book ordered

                    Dear Sir,

                    I had ordered a book titled "COMPLETE HISTORY OF THE WORLD" by RICHARD OVERY through India Today Book Club for Rs.2199 on 11th September 2009 with a promise of Free gift of Reebok watch and Air tickets. I had enclosed a cheque (No.229409) dated 11th September 2009 drawn on Indian Bank, for an amount of Rs.2199/-(Including the VPP charges). Till now its been 4 months and i have not received anything. i have written about 10-15 mails to them and every time i get the same reply from different people asking me to wait for sometime. their helpline doesnot provide proper customer service.                     India Today Book Club — Problem With an Order

                    Hello,

                    I placed an order with India Today Book Club for an Benetton Watch worth 499 Rs. but received a Benetton Watch and a Benetton Sunglasses worth Rs. 1498 which was not at all discussed on the call.

                    Upon placing a complaint on your number the guys from your side advised me to refuse the delivered shipment as it is and then once received by the India Today Book Club the money will be reverted back to my account. And a new order for a Benetton Watch worth Rs 499 will be processed which will be a payment on delivery.

                    Going as per their advice, I have refused my order that came to me today right now. I have refused the order and now am expecting that I may get a confirmation from your side that my money that is the amount of Rs. 1498 will be reverted back to my account as soon as possible.

                    All this was done around in April 2009, and its around one year now and yet I am to receive my money back.

                    Man these people just play fool with all the customers who come in their lucrative offers and then play with their patience.

                    Be careful guys! I have been following them since one year now but yet all in vain.

                    Will keep you updated with their responses.

                    I am Sujata Garimella.

                    Like you, I too trusted the India Today name and had ordered stuff from ITBC. My experience was awful. I did not get what I ordered for. I did not get the promised "extras". And I did not get any solution either.

                    This whole nightmare started in September 2009 for me.

                    To top it all they still keep calling me.

                    I plan to sue them for Rs. 10 lakhs. I have started an action against them and would like more victims of ITBC's dirty tricks to join in because there is a lot of strength in numbers.

                      The day I booked my order (17th Jun 2009), I got a call from your sales executive “Mr. Emamuddin” and he told that my Order Id is [protected]. But after some time he called me again and said that there was some technical issue at their end and a new Order Id has been generated for my Order which is [protected].

                      I’ve sent a number of mails to the mail id [protected]@indiatodaybookclub.com and [protected]@indiatodaybookclub.com in order to get the status of my order but got unsatisfactory responses. And also I’ve called your customer care so many times.

                      One fine day one of your customer care executive told me that my order has been placed somewhere in Faridabad on the name of “Shilpa Jain”.

                      Below is the Order History-

                      I have received call from your Sales Person Mr. Emamuddin on 17th June to book my order. When I had processed the order on phone and provided my credit card details through secured phone gate way. Initially he has provided me the Order ID [protected]. After some time I had received call from him and he had informed that he could not able to process my order on the Order ID # [protected] due to some technical issue and he has provided me the new Order ID # i.e. [protected], which is now showing “CASH ON DELIVERY” remark. The earlier Order ID # [protected], which was provided to me, is showing in the name “SHILPA JAIN’ from Faridabad which is showing as pre paid transaction. I don’t know what these guys had done and how they changed my order. I placed these orders on the basis faith, which I was having for you as “INDIA TODAY GROUP”. But I had such worst experience from you.

                      As in your above emails you mentioned that you have not received parcel back. I have attached Aramex tracking information for your information. As per them the package is already delivered to your concerned department on 14th July-2009, which is more than 30 days before. As per your customer care, till today this information is not updated in your system. Every time when I call your customer care I get only one answer that information is not updated in their system. I am not sure whether it is the duty of a customer to update this in your customer care system or you have any process for that. Only one thing which I can assert you is that your customer care is hardly bothered to show any respect towards a customer query. If it is not like this then I would not have suffered this much, just to get the status of an order.

                      Also I have attached by credit statement for your reference. It shows that I have paid for my order on 17th June-2009, which is more than 60 days but till today I have not received the product for which I've paid for.
                      I have other jobs to do other than calling your customer care every other day.
                      I am no more interested in your product and just refund my money at the earliest otherwise I would be compelled to take some other action.

                      I placed an order for Rs.999/- for 7Agatha Christie DVD. The offer promised me a sunglass along with the DVDs. The said order was delivered minus the sunglass. Repeated enquiry with the customer care personnels and several emails have resulted in nothing. Thereafter i was told that I would be getting a watch instead, which is also yet to reach.

                      Promise not to avail any of your offers in future. I had suffered a lot with the yearly subscription of India Today nd now this free stuff.

                        My conversation with India Today Book Club Executive regarding my grievances are : --

                        Dear Sir,

                        I am Dilip Kumar, a regular and faithful customer of Indiatoday book club. But I have cheated by your Executive on 18th May 2009; as on that day your Executive informed me on telephone about an offer specially for me that if, I purchase a series of book than I will get a free air ticket along with a holiday package & for that I have to pay only the service charge of Rs. 800/- for each purchase. So, I purchased two book of series one for me and another for my wife for availing gift of free air ticket and holiday home. So, I opt for online transaction that took place though my SBI credit card on the same day.

                        After some days, when, I received the ordered book and then tried to book my free air ticket, I came to know from bigcity Bangalore that I have to pay Rs. 7000/- plus Rs. 800- extra for each booking for availing free air ticket and holiday home that means I have to pay total Rs.15, 600- for claiming free air ticket and holiday home for two orders. But, as this message was not conveyed by your Executive on that day while offering the gift; so this is a case of cheating. As I am not interested for availing the same. Hence, therefore I request you to kindly returned the delivered two series of books and refund the transactioned amont to me, for this I shall remain grateful to you; details of which are shown below---

                          11. If for any reason the booking is cancelled a cancellation fee may be charged. All bookings
                          cancellations must be made 72 hours prior to the scheduled date of arrival. A failure to heed the 72
                          hour rule or a failure to show up means a cancellation fee will be charged to the debit/credit card.

                          I have purchased a touch screen samsang mobile from your counter through Credit card 3 weeks ago.The free gifts which you have promised to give, still not received. The free gifts namely, 2n/3d hotel stay and Rs. 5000/- cash voucher discount for diamond jewelly purchase are not sent by you, even after continuous contact with your officials through phone. I do not understand why you are sending the free gifts along with products. Due to difficult procedures to claim the free gifts many of our customers do not claim the same.                           The booking request form though claimed but does not allow to be filled . Every time you try to go for round trip it redirects to square A .

                          Please note my complaint via this mail written to big city prmotions. Please help us in getting our holiday vouchers at the earliest.

                          This is in regards to two holiday vouchers held by us:

                          1. ITBC8169- held in the name of my father Mr R.K Shukla.

                          The form and DD -no. 110404 of Rs 899/- was sent on 22/11/09 mentioning 3 destinations-
                          Shimla-10th Feb, Mussorie- 17th Feb and 24th Feb Gangtok.-(please see attachment Old IT BC 8169 and DD). My father was contionusly trying to call up the Big City Promotions helpline since Dec'09 to know the confirmation on his holiday destination confirmation. Though this voucher was received by your office on 4th Dec itself at Bangalore, we did not get any confirmation. We were just told to wait for a confirmation. Only somewhere in the last week of January did we get to know that none of the destinations are available, and thus we will need to fill up the holiday destinations again and send it to your office.

                          Thus on 23/02/10, we again sent a new destination form mentioning as follows:
                          14th April- Mussorie, 21st April-Yercaud and 28th April-Gangtok. This was accompanied by a letter and copy of DD sent earlier-( please find scanned copies attached for the same-Letter and IT BC 8169).

                          The mails below are a desperate attempt by my father aged 63, to try and get a reply from your office to no avail. This is very sad that while trying to sell the holiday voucher Indiatoday contacted him almost thrice a day and now noone seems to be intersted in giving a replt. You must please note that in the meantime he has already been to Shimla and back through Club Mahindra whose services were quick and efficient.

                          This was sent on 15/02/10-giving three destinations-
                          Ooty-1st and 2nd May, Mysore-8th and 9th May- Munnar-15th and 16th May.

                          We have been trying to desparately call your Big City helpline[protected] for more than 20 days, we were kept on hold for more than an hour-with the automatic machine playing musically and asking us to wait till somebody attends our call but nobody attended the call. We even wrote mails to : [protected]@bigcity.in; [protected]@indiatodaybookclub.com; [protected]@bigcity.in, which can be seen in trail mail below, but nobody seemed to reply.

                          Tired of all this, I called your[protected] no., and they suggested that I should write a mail to above email addreses and I will definately get a reply. On Wednesday, 17th March I finally got through your helpline no.[protected] and told the lady at the other end to help me out with both my vouchers, but she was very confused and asked me to write a mail again, which I am now doing.

                          Now, you have complete status of my holiday vouchers in this mail. We are already in the last week of March and have given destinations for April- ITBC8169 and May ITBC8174. It takes time to book the air tickets and we need to get a confirmation on this asap. Specially for ITBC 8169, since it was rejected earlier due to non availability of destionations and we were promised that we will surely get it in the second time.

                          I request you to kindly help me out and confirm my holiday vouchers for:

                          ITBC8169-Mr RK Shukla14th April- Mussorie, 21st April-Yercaud and 28th April-Gangtok.
                          ITBC8174-Rashmi ShuklaOoty-1st and 2nd May, Mysore-8th and 9th May- Munnar-15th and 16th May.

                          You must understand that holiday is for pleasure and your non co-operation in services is turning out to be a mental torture inspite of paying the dd and form on time. I request your quick intervention in solving this matter and confirming our holidays. If I do not hear from you till Monday 22nd March on this, I will take this up very seriously with the Consumer Forum and also seek compensation for mental torture in the entire process of trying to get my holiday voucher for which I have already paid.

                              i have ordered for 12 books but i have recieved only 11 books. i have given a complaint to them on phone but nothing seems to working. and they have given a holiday voucher for a couple for 2 nights and 3 days but i have not recieved that with the books kindly help

                              I think these people are fraud, I too have taken products worth more than 14000 and they have promised gift vouchers like free holiday for 3 nights and 4 days, free air ticket, surat diamond vouchers, but none of the unique ID or membership id is working. every time I call they come back with a normal answer that the site is under maintainance and will be fixed within 48 hours.

                              I am going to file a consumer court complaint and see how it is proceeding.
                              On the date of 17th June 2009 at 1600 hrs i recieved an call from [protected] on my mobile number [protected] and some of your executive said to me that i got a lucky chance to get the domestic tour package for 4 nights and 5 days including Air Tickets for 4 peoples, but for that i need to pay only Rs 2598/- (all inclusive). After paying this ammount through my credit card the executive gave me the order no[protected] and said that with a week time i got the parcel from India Today in which we send the documents and forms which i have fillup and send back to India Today and at the end of call the executive gave me some phone and mobile numbers ([protected] / [protected] / [protected]) and told me that if within a week i dont get the parcel then call at same numbers to Mr R K Sharma.

                              I called so many times on these numbers but i got only reply that we had sended a parcel through First Flight Couriers wide number ZD5639075. But till date i did'nt recieve any parcel from them.

                              Now its requested to you please look at the matter and now solve the problim within a week time else after that i register an case in consumer coart againt India Today book Club and all the responsiblities will be at India Today Book Club.

                                There was an advertisement in Times of india in the month of February 2009. The advertisement was
                                for a REEBOK shoes with freebies work 5000. Reebok shoes worth 2999/- i bought it, the shoes was not of REEBOK but was as reebok and freebies wont even be Rs 1000/-. I complained India Today Book Club, They told me send it back for replacement, i did so, till date i have not received my REEBOK shoes. In the advertisement they said the shoes is worth 2999/- and freebies worth 5000/-. But in the Bill they have mentioned the cost of the shoes is 1205 and Rebbok track suit Rs. 1792 and rounded of the same as Rs. 2998. I have reminded them several time via email and over phone, every time different executive attends the call and they say they have not received the shoes for replacement.

                                  I enclose below the correspondence with India Today from 9 Feb 2009 onwards. Annual subscrition gift is still not received though each time they send a standard reply that it will be delivered in 3-4 weeks. Even today India Today is advertising in Newspapers and in their magazine about the gift but not giving to anyone. This is cheating and giving misleading ads to attract innocent consumers like me.

                                  This would mean giving false information to the customers.

                                      i called the india today shop (today shop) at toll free nuumber [protected] on 19 oct evening at 8 pm to book reebok kit for me but the executive was very callous and ill mannered!! it was really a bad experiance !!
                                      i wall never call here again..
                                      my bad wiahes r with u ie with that executive and i request today group to sack that employee right now!!
                                      he is harmfull for organisation..

                                        under the name 'TA-India Tdy' (India Today) i have been receiving sms offers on certain products almost every day-many times a day.

                                        it is a great menace to me .

                                        upon sending certain sms back to number 567678 (of TA-India Tdy) to cancel all sms reaching my mobile, i got a another sms response from another nuber [protected].

                                        that seems to be connected with a web site namely www.smsgupshup.com which assists and enables cetain parties to send sms enmass to the public!

                                        with all these research i am unable understand how these things have started happening and whether at all the sms sending spree will end finally.

                                        India Today — Unwanted spam SMS

                                        Though I had registered my number in NDNC I am getting junk sms from IndTday/India Today regarding some offers. This is really annoying as there is no way I can unsubscribe. Please take some action as millions of our fellow citizens could have faced same problem, not knowing how to register a complaint.
                                        I get similar SMS to join various groups, like TD-FITNESS, Jokes, ect.. not able to understand the funda o[censored]sing [protected] number, who is providing free service for [protected].. like we have [protected] from google labs.. really fed up of these..

                                        [protected] and [protected] are free which is fine but the group owners are sending paid forced SMSs to us to join their groups, now this is disgusting.. If I wish to join any group then I will go to google labs and find that group and then subscribe to it.. but thinking about all group owner chasing you to join, sick marketing..
