I am submitting this complaint regarding serious and suspected unauthorized financial transactions from the Indian Bank account of my deceased younger brother, Mr. R. Chandrasekaran, who passed away on 15 January 2025.
After his death, our family obtained the relevant bank statement from Indian Bank, Nagudi Branch. Upon reviewing the statement, we noticed several transactions involving withdrawals and/or transfers of approximately ₹965, 000 (rupees nine lakh sixty-five thousand approximately) through ATM withdrawals and online/electronic banking transactions after his death.
These transactions were not known to or authorized by our family. Based on the information presently available to us, there are serious reasons to suspect that the transactions may have been carried out or benefited by his former wife, Mrs. Ranjani, without the knowledge or consent of the other family members. However, we request the Bank to conduct a proper investigation and establish the actual person(s) responsible based on documentary and electronic evidence.
We are particularly concerned about how ATM withdrawals and online transactions could have been carried out from the account after the account holder's death and whether the Bank was properly informed about his death and whether appropriate restrictions were placed on the account.
We therefore request Indian Bank to urgently investigate the matter and provide a clear written explanation regarding the following: The complete details of all ATM withdrawals and online/electronic transactions made after the death of Mr. R. Chandrasekaran.
The exact date, time, amount and transaction reference number of each disputed transaction.
ATM ID, terminal location and available CCTV footage relating to the ATM withdrawals.
Details of the beneficiary accounts, UPI IDs, bank accounts or other destinations to which the money was transferred.
Relevant transaction logs and available electronic records necessary to identify the person/device through which the transactions were initiated.
Whether OTP/SMS authentication, internet banking, mobile banking, UPI or any other authentication method was used for these transactions.
Whether the Bank received any information regarding the death of the account holder before these transactions took place.
Whether there was any nominee, joint account holder, mandate holder or other person authorized to operate the account.
Whether any suspicious activity or irregularity was detected by the Bank's internal monitoring systems.
Why these transactions were permitted after the death of the account holder and whether the Bank followed its applicable procedures. We request the Bank to preserve all relevant records, including transaction logs, ATM records, CCTV footage, electronic banking records, beneficiary details and other available evidence, as these records may be required for a police investigation and legal proceedings.
We also request the bank to conduct an internal investigation and, if any unauthorized transaction, fraud, forgery, negligence, or procedural violation is established, take appropriate action against the responsible person(s) and provide the findings to us in writing.
We are prepared to provide the deceased person's death certificate, bank statement, identity documents, legal heir documents, and other supporting documents required for verification.
This complaint is being submitted in good faith based on the transactions appearing in the bank statement. We request the bank not to treat the matter merely as a family dispute but to verify the disputed transactions independently through the bank's records and appropriate investigation.
