I booked a e-ticket through my SBI debit card on 13.3.2008 for me and my family comprising of 2 adults and 2 minors for a journey between Guwahati and LT Terminus-Mumbai bearing PNR no. [protected] by 2A class with transaction ID [protected]. I successfully took the print of the ticket, but later on was astonished to find that the booking amount of Rs.6589/- was debited twice from my bank SB account. I immediately informed the case to IRCTC by e-mail at [protected]@irctc.co.in and my bank and requested for the reversal of the excess debited amount. Subsequently, on 17-3-08 I lodged a complaint in writing to the respective branch of SBI with a copy by FAX to GM (Operation), IRCTC along with prints of the e-ticket, my reply and my booked ticket history. Since then, I have been regularly sending reminders to IRCTC on this issue. However, it appears that IRCTC officials are apathetic enough to ensure that not even a reply to my e-mails and letter is sent, leave alone refunding the said amount. In such situation, I request you to kindly guide me so that I get the amount reversed to my account.

    Refund Money Rs. 6734.00 not recieved after 5 months
    Dear Sir,

    This is Anoop Das. I have booked two tickets from Mumbai CST to HOWRA on[protected]. The Train has been rescheduled to next day. So i went to Station master and asked for refund. We got the information that we have to send mail to irctc for refund. We did the same. The amount is Rs.6734.00. But till today i have not recieved the refund. i have done continous followups with IRCTC and Eastrn Railway but no use. We came to know from Mr.Saiben bose(Eastern Railway) that after enquiry my case has been sent to accounts on[protected]After four months they started enquiry). But till today i have not recieved the same, but I got a reply that "the amount is big so it will take more time". i can not understand the logic behind that. Please find the below mails.

    Please help me to get my money back.

    Respected Sir,
    Please make Smoking Zone on only AC class that is AC3Tier because for the chain smoker this is the main problem to travel like Howrah to Jodhpur around 36Hrs without smoking you have to ban only on normal classes like 3tier because they smoke within the berth thats why but for AC class we have to go out of the cabin and then we smoke so there is no need of problems to the other passengers respectively.
    Kindly Co-operate withus for all the chain smokers who travel[protected]km

    I had booked my bike along with my reservation ticket for New Delhi to NJP(New Jalpaiguri) on 11/01/09.But on the day of journey The porter told me that -there is no space for the bike that day.But till the date 19/01/09 my bike is not reached to it's destination.Actually on the booking counter, they are asking for the extra money, which I don't agree to pay. [protected] for journey on 14/10/2008 through NET for train no. 2322. 3 tickets were confirmed and 3 were WL 1 2 and 3 at time of booking. At time of boarding the train TTE informed that the 3 tickets which are WL 1, 2, and 3 are not shown in the WL chart he has and has not been booked. When i asked that money has already been pain by me through credit card he said that the same will be refuned back to the same card and gave me 3 bearth in sleeper class and took fare as per the applicable rule. I have filed a TDR on line on 15/10/2008 but till date i have not received the refund nor any update on the same.The total amount of the tocket was 13260/- and the amount for 3 tickets should be refunded.

    Due to some unavoidable connection errors in irctc.co.in, I am not able to receive any confirmation for the HWH - Chennai, Chennai Mail Tatkal Ticket for 25th April 09 which jenerated today [ 20th April 09 ] at 10:28 am, but amount of Rs.6142/- already debited from My HDFC Credit Card accounts without jenerating the PNR No. The approval Code is 074203 . When I personally visited your Fairly Place Office, got the information it will agin credit at my Credit card account after 2/3 days without getting any PNR No.

    You are requested to do the needful where I already brought the new Tatkal Ticket on same day by credit card from the counter.

    Your help AWA a confirmation and response about the problems stated above will be highly appriciable.

    generally it is observed that passanger trains are kept haulted at any station for long time without any annuncement. passangers in such trains are neglected.this is nothing but type of harrasement. most of the time fans are not running, water is not available.& so on.e.g. on dt. 28.11.2009 1321dn. pune-nizamabad passanger was kept standing for @1.5 hr.at daund station. no fan was an service but tube light in the bogie were on.
    so passenger trains should not be kept haulted more than 20 minutes.

    Today I tried book eticket from HWH to JSME by Upasana EXP. An amount for Rs 381 has been deducted from my SBI account but I didn't get any ticket against that transaction.
    I think some thingh is going fishy under Tatkal quota. if you wish to book your ticket at 8 a.m., it is impossible because the site will not allow you to login for 20 miniutes and by that time the quota will be finished. This seems to be a scandle of IT people of IRCTC.They must be doing it deliberately to provide undue benefits to some one . This is a matter of investigation that why the site will become blocked for 20 minitues at 8 a.m. daily.If there is rush of the passengers for booking the tickets then IRCTC should increase bandwith or capacity of servers but they should not be allowed to play dirty game as they are playing with the public who wish to avail facilities in genuine manners.

        Rs.245/- has been deducted from my ICICI account on 11th march, 2008 unnecessarily. I have booked only 2 tickets(chennai-MAS to coimbatore-CBE and vice versa) and
        the amount was deducted for 3 tickets. But, I have only two tickets in the booked history too. I tried calling the customer care several times and they put me on hold and disconnect the line.

            Hi,
            I am pretty upset while trying the reservation for 9-June-2008
            from KRND to LTT on train 1060 Chappra Express.
            On 11th i logged on, at 8 am and when i tried booking its showed me 22 seats available in AC 3 Tier.
            Then when it went to payment gateway for Payment it debited through my account but dint confirm the ticket because by the time this happened the ticket status was WL 82/42 .
            How do you expect internet users to do it, when the server performs so badly. I feel they must reserve some tickets for online booking.

              I Aman Luthra, tried to book Shatabdi Ticket for two from Delhi to Ludhiana on 27 April 2008. But it never got booked, because of some technical problem on Irctc website. So, I traveled to Ludhiana in my car. Now when I checked my Credit card statement online, it diplays a charge of Rs.1025. I furthur checked my account on Irctc, which confirmed that I didnt booked any ticktets to ludhiana in the recent past.I am attaching a screen shot of my CC statement, as i ahvent received a paper statement till now.

              I am very much dissapointed by the kind of service IRCTC has been delievering, every morning the website is down with error messages "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE". It has become impossible to take Tatkal Tickets and make online bookings, I had to cancel my trip for my native this Diwali. I have been trying from last three consicutive days to get tickets of Tatkal through e-ticketing but failed due to website problem. I think this is intentional by some sources, they block the website and it is only available after 10 am only after all the available tickets are booked.

              Please show me a way from where I can launch a legal complaint against the management of the website.

              IRCTC websites never works between 8AM and 8:20 AM, by then the TATKAL tickets get filled. I heard from my colleagues that agents login gets preference during these time & a normal user hardly get a chance login successfully.

              The IRCTC website management is definitely involved in this. This has to be solved somehow.

              it is simply impossible to get a confirmed ticket through irctc site for a popular train since the site even doesn't allow to login... by the time u login, the availability in tatkal goes to a good waitlist no... however, this problem doesn't persist at agent's end... i think u have to b an agent to get a confirmed ticket ;-)
              For the past 2 nights (I live in US and have to transact at that time because its hard to get some customer service at all 24/7 as advertised) I have been trying to book a ticket for my family from New Delhi to Lucknow. I have attempted at least 10 times using my Amex and Visa cards on their ICICI, Amex, Citi, Axis bank gateways, but have been unsuccessful thus far. Worse, the charges are showing up on my Amex credit card even though the transaction shows it failed. What a rip-off. I sent an email complaint copying their MD and another Director (Catering Svcs) but have not received any response. The customer service sends a run off the mill response that the problem is at my bank's end.

              I have used these credit cards for numerous transactions in India and abroad on other suppliers, never once had any issues. Whats so special about IRCTC. These folks have 30 different payment gateways to list.. not one of them seems to work. I think rather than spawning so many eggs, they need to work on ONE gateway that would just work and alleviate the misery of the customer.

              Lately I see some promo emails from IRCTC regarding packages, shubh yatra. what not. I say forst work on your revenue generation system before go out and beat the drums about the new services. Whats the use of these new fancy footwork if the basic things are not in order.

              Being an Indian I used to very proudly tell my US colleagues of how we have technologically advanced citing the IRCTC.. I guess thats all BS now. No one wants to listen. What started out as an excellent system with a lot of potential seems to be languishing.. and the folks at the helm have no clue.

              I sincerely hope someone out there in IRCTC is listening. It was not this bad earlier.

              Worst service.After login I typed train name but names from irctc not visible for 1 hour.
              After opening the site it says "done but with error on page" it means actually you book your ticked and payment is deducted from your account but ticket was not actually booked by irctc.

              IRCTC online Ticket reservation — Intentionally blocked the site

              Hi,

              I have been observing that the online reservation does not start at the mentioned hour i.e., 8:00 AM IST.
              Although the Travel Agents are able to book tickets starting from the same hour.

              The time on the website is 5 - 10 minutes behind from the actual time.

              Its always whenever we try to reserve the railway ticket in Tatkal Quota, we are not able to do that before 9:00 AM IST, and by that time the Availability goes out.

              I think there is some setting of Travel Agents and Railway which blocks all the reservation request other than agents. (Also the agents get a separate software for reservation Why is that so??)

                  It is to highlight and disclose the mater of negligencies from the Indian Railway Catering &Tourism Corporation Ltd for delivering the ticket with in the due period of 48 hours. On line booking, the payment is being made same time but for the ticket the Customer has to wait eagerly for the at least four to three days why? Also the the cancelled ticket money is never be refunded why? This are I have experienced during my past online ticket booking.

                  Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation [IRCTC] customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.

                  I attempted to book two AC 2nd class tkts from SBC to NJP for 21 Sept 2011 through IRCTC online eticket and completed my payment as shown in my Account Summary of SBIonline (www.onlinesbi.com) account of 1 Aug 2011.

                  Perhaps due to poor internet service speed no ticket was delivered online to me. I checked IRCTC > My Transactions>Booked History but NO BOOKING was shown though the PAYMENT to SBI had been COMPLETED.

                  Next day 2 Aug 2011, I booked again and this transaction showed confirmed completion and my tkt was received through email.

                  Conclusion: I have been charged twice for the tkts so IRCTC owes me Rs 2433/- which they should refund to my SBI Online account promptly.

                    I have booked ticket on 15/06/2008, PNR number [protected] for H Nizamuddin (NZM) from Mumbai Central (BCT) in Train No: 2953, Name: AUG KR RAJ EXP. for person named Pratyush Rastogi and Subrat Rastogi.
                    Sir on 16/06/2008 when we reached to Mumbai central station to catch the same train it was brought to our notice that train is not running i.e. cancled and is cancled from last 20 days. We asked them if it is not running on particular date hou can you book ticket for the same. They said call to IRCTC and ask for same. I tried for around one hour but i was unable to reach you as your call was continuously busy.

                    Sir this Incident have caused us a huge loss as we where moving to Delhi for some very important work and this business loss will make us suffer a loss
                    So the other option is due to your inproper system we have to move from Flight to Delhi

                    I have tried to book tickets from chennai to coimbatore for two senior women passengers. Though the availability position in 2 trains are given as 44 berths and 122 beerths(3A/c), and since the passengers were 68 years and 73 years age, I had given preference of lower berths. Alas, after making the payment, the booking gets failed since the request for berths could not be acceeded. I wonder how, when there are 122 berths, it could not find 2 lower berths for senior women citizens. It failed 3 times. I suggest that the non availability regarding the particluar choice be given before payment itself. Please check up the system, why it is not alloting lower berths, even when there 122 berths vacant. All these cannot be upper of middle berths. Further, in the case of 44 vacant berths, when I give the choice as lower, it has allotted upper and side upper berths.                     I stay in vithalwadi.From past six months I have learnt that the tools or services at vithalwadi station is going down the line everyday.I have following complaints for the same:-
                    1.There was a wall constructed next to the footover bridge to avoid track crossing but now it is broken and again people are overlooking the law and use that path to tresspass.
                    2.The indicators at the station is not working for the past six months, it doesn't diplay the required information properly.
                    3.Recently there was a reconstruction carried out to strengthen the bridge but the material used was not good because of which the bridge is breaking down gradually.I believe the construction was carried out twice for the same reason within 3 months.

                    Kindly look into this matter at the earliest.

                    I had booked ticket through irctc.co.in on dated: 11.01.2010 for journey koraput to Bhubaneswar on date 24.01.2010. Due to some reason the train was cancelled. But the amount paid by me is not yet recieved. I had gone through enquiry of railway station but they advised me to make cancellation your ticket through internet.                     This is to express my utter dissatisfaction towards the kind of service that IRCTC, our one of the Government Organizational body provides at any point of time, through out the year.

                    To be more precise, the online ticket-booking servers are seeming to be using ultra state-of-the arts technology ( ? ), which have been failing to provide even the IRCTC home page never before than 10mins.

                    Fortunately, if it shows up also, by the time a customer puts all the credentials and necessary info for booking a ticket, finally it ends up in showing an error saying the server request time is expired.


                    Therefore, I on behaft of the millions of customers,would like the respectful and responsible persons to give their sincere, genuine attention to this issue, which might not seems serious to them as it is to us.

                    As citizens of the country, we as a Goverment Organizatioonal Body shouldnt make a mockery or behave as if blindfolded to the truth, when the Goverment is claiming the country to be Super Power.

                        This is to the notice of southern railway department, that the
                        train charminar exp running from chennai to hyderabad & from
                        hyderabad to chennai always runs 3 to 4 hr late, resulting in
                        hytek travel for the passengers. This Friday (30/05/2008) charminar exp took at 7.03pm from Secunderabad and reached
                        chennai around 11.30am in the morning that almost 3& half hour late. Its schedule time of arrival in chennai is 8.15am.

                        And the Charminar exp from chennai to hyderabad sunday ( 01/06/2208) took around 6.13pm in the evening and reached
                        Hyderabad (nampally) around 10 am thats around 2 & half hour
                        late.

                        This is not only the case i have travelling with this train every friday & sunday to & fro from chennai to hyderabad for more
                        than one year this train charminar has reached on time only
                        on few occasion. We passenges feel very uncomfortable while
                        traveling for nearly 17 to 18hrs, normal jounrney hour is 14hrs.

                        Pls.i request the railway authorities to look into this issue. becos
                        this train never runs on schedule time, always runs min. 2 to 3 hrs
                        late.

                        I am planning to travel to my native in OCTOBER and I had to book a tatkal rail ticket. I don’t have enough time to spend in endless queues at various Indian Rail reservation counters and so I decided to use IRCTC (http://irctc.co.in) to book my tickets online at my home on broadband internet. I was aware that it was a big risk. I had to prepare a lot to do the successful booking at IRCTC. Tickets for the desired day starts getting booked 2 days in advance (that is today) at 8:00 AM and I was fully prepared. I got up early today and first logged in to net and checked whether everything is fine. I was able to login to IRCTC and it was very fast to use. I was confident that at 8 AM I will surely book my tickets in Suryanagri express.

                        Booking at IRCTC for festival season tickets is risky, unreliable and Herculean task.

                        At 7:55 AM I again started a fresh session at IRCTC and logged in. I prepared my query and got ready with all details. At 8 AM I pressed the OK button at IRCTC website and was shocked to see a blank page with "Service unavailable" message displayed. I kept trying many times. I tried with Internet Explorer, I tried with Mozilla firefox. Mostly it was not proceeding a single step after getting logged in to IRCTC website but Sometime I was able to proceed one or two step ahead and then it was displaying "Service unavailable" message or was hanging. I started getting frustrated. I was sure if I cannot book in next 15 minutes or so I cannot get a confirmed status railways reservation. I didn’t loose my heart and kept trying. Till 8:30, I might have logged in and logged out to IRCTC at least 100 times and somehow I could never proceed because of all the different kind of error displayed by IRCTC website. Looked like the server of IRCTC got unresponsive and got chocked due to heavy load at opening time. At 8:30 AM suddenly I could go one more step ahead and I saw status that the tickets are "NOT AVAILABLE". I lost the opportunity to book tickets on desired day. This is not the first time I had seen this happening.

                        All the services provided by Indian Railways are pathetic. Whether it’s catering, seating, security or even ticket booking. Indian Railways NOW claims they are in profit. They should utilize people's money to improve the services instead of going to all business schools to showcase there skills to convert a loss budget in profit budget and patting their own back.

                          I used IRCTC service to book ticket several times.
                          but today (04/02/08) i booked ticket for my father and relatives from Ahmedabad to Mumbai dated 11/02/08, after making payments from my credit card the ticket for printing not shown by the site and the page is expire, so i againg login and checked my booked ticket option but it shows that ticket is not booked.

                          I Tickets Not Delivered

                          I was trying to book a I Ticket with follwoing details, while booking after making the payment using by HDFC credit card, the web browser did not get redirected to IRCTC portal, so i did not get any confirmation regarding the booked ticket. However if i see the booking history, it says no history found.
                          So i am not sure whether the ticket is being booked or not as i do not have any reference number, neither the ticket got delivered...

                          Dear Sir,
                          Some people with negative attitudes in the organisation are trying to spoil the good reputation of railways.I want to tell you my experience.
                          Sir,
                          I was booking the ticket on internet irctc site (Login is Leopold35) on 14/7/2007 for going from Newdelhi to Mumbai central on 15/7/07.There was ticket available on Tatkal in Rajdhani Express(Train No.2952).I clicked on make payment.Ticket view should have appeared on screen but did not appear because of communication problem from the server.I tried to refresh the page but nothing appeared on the screen.I then went through the booking process again for TATKAL TICKET.This time i got the ticket view on the computer screen.The details are PNR No.[protected],The transaction I.D is [protected].Later i came to know that in my first attempt also a ticket(PNR.No.[protected],The Transaction I.D is [protected]) is booked which i then immediately cancelled.
                          I had corresponded with Mr.Pankaj and Mr.NabKishor of irctc and explained the problem to them.They said that i should see in Booked tickets menu.I tried to make them understand that the site itself was not userfriendly and it did not direct the user to look in the Booked tickets menu.
                          Also i asked them how it is possible to book two tickets in the same train in same login and with same identification card and that too on same day.When i was booking the second ticket the site should have given a message that already a ticket is booked in the same name.They had no answer for this.
                          Irctc in first place should have made website userfriendly so that a layman can book the ticket without any problems because all are not well versed in computers.
                          There should also be provision in website that a person will not incur loss due to the problems in website which happened in my case.I had to incur loss of around Rs.1800 due to failure of website.
                          The website has some glitches which they are not solving but are telling me all rules.First they should make site user friendly so that there is no mistake in booking the ticket.Especially for tatkal tickets booking site should have features which will help the customer to book the tickets because in tatkal case the ticket is not refundable so that he will not book same tickets twice which happened in my case.
                          I also mailed several times to people in redressal grievances at below email id( see mails below)

                          But none of them bothered to reply.I wonder what is the purpose of them holding the post when they are not doing the work which they are supposed to do.Railways are simply spending amount on their salary.

                          Dear sir Leopold,
                          first of all take a look on your side, when you tried first time for booking of a tatkal ticket through IRCTC server. You should cautiously check your every step of command on internet, because it may be your network or broadband system too slow or have some network problem. Second thing that the IRCTC server is not specially designed for beginners, the booking gateway is same linked with Railway's booking terminals and hence they take a single command to perform an action whether it would be booking or cancellation. I know that the interface of IRCTC should be improved and to be user friendly, but what you think that it would easy task of sleeping babus ......... of indian railways...........                           Can you suggest me whats problem is going on with your online reservation again i could not reserv the ticket and again my amount has been deducted from my account. i have already complain two time yesterday regarding that but no body is giving response to me. yesterday i booked two times but amount deducted and i got failure message but the amount is not refunded in my account and again amount deducted from my account when today i was trying for reservation . Please refund as soon as possible because its not a customer satisfaction label.

                          Dear Team,

                          I am facing a problem with online e-ticket reservation. I was reserving the e-ticket from MYSORE JN to H NIZAMUDDIN and boarding at PUNE JN but first time after deduction of the amount from my account i got a message that your reservation is not successful, again i tried for the same but again i got the same message, i am sending my reservation id with this mail. i want to know that when i get my money which is deducted from my account,

                          I fully agree with the views and observations of Mr Leopold Menezes. As stated by him the IRCTC website is not user-friendly.

                          These are my experiences.

                          1. Whenever we ask for 'lower berth' we are invariably
                          allotted 'side upper berth'. This I have noticed even
                          when hundreds of berths are available. (Side berths
                          cause great inconvenience to tall people like me).

                          Are 'lower berths' out of bounds for passengers making
                          online reservation? The Railways should clarify.

                          2. But, when one asks for 'middle berth', middle berth is
                          allotted, subject to availability.

                          Why does this happen?

                          These are my suggestions.

                          1. A passenger must be in a position to view the actual
                          vacant berths, by seeing through the 2D pictures of
                          all bogies which are standard attachments, in a
                          particular train. It will help him/her to decide upon
                          and select the bogie and berth number simulaneously.

                          2. As of now,the passenger comes to know of the bogie
                          and berth number allotted, only after making the
                          payment. But, this shall not be the case.

                          Before making the online payment, the passenger must
                          be in a position to exercise his/her choice.

                          first of all take a look on your side, when you tried first time for booking of a ticket through IRCTC server.
