I, Inspector, Ram Lal Sharma, a serving soldier of India’s first line of defense, BSF since last more than 35 long years would like to share the mental and physical torture, which I was subjected to due to insensible and extreme unprofessional attitude shown by a few staff of your esteemed airline at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata on 12 March 2023,
I had a ticket (PNR-EZRENE, copy enclosed) booked in Indigo Flt 6E-2009 on 11/03/23, scheduled dep from Kolkata(CCU) at 2155 Hrs(09:55 PM). I boarded train from Murshidabad(WB), my present place of posting on 11/03/2023 at 1000 Hrs(train tkt enclosed) for Dum Dum / Sealdah and for onward journey to Airport. Eastern Railway, Sealdah-Naihati-Kalyani section train services have been badly disrupting since 15 to 20 days back due to ongoing signal interlocking system upgradation and all EMUs and Exp trains were running behind schedule abnormally. This fact can be verified from ER and all electronic and print media of local dailies. I too had to bear the brunt of this situation and somehow managed to reach airport in between[protected] hrs by hiring a pvt car from Kalyani itself. CISF Staff at the airport was very helpful and without wasting a minute, they allowed me to step inside the airport to catch the flight. At the counter, I explained the horrendous situation which I had to face to reach the airport, which was beyond my control, and situation was well known to Indigo staff at Kolkata also. I literally was begging to them for boarding pass, disclosing my identity and my present physical disability for free mobilization. But despite all this, they denied me to give boarding pass but preached me to come airport on time. I have no hesitation to say that staff at the counter was unprofessional, disgraceful and lacking basic etiquettes in public dealing at trying situation.
As I needed to reach my home in J&K via Delhi on emergency, I was compelled to buy another ticket for Flt 6E-2474(PNR-EZRENE, copy enclosed and thereby I had to forfeited around Rs. 9000 from previous ticket.
Had your staff been a bit sensible to the situation at that time, I would have boarded the Flt(6E-2009) as staff at entry gate to cargo was ready to escort me upto the flight provided your staff issued the boarding pass. There was still 20 to 25 minutes left to take off the flight as I made to wait upto 2200 hrs to buy another ticket, which can be verified from your website.
I, therefore seek your indulgence for suitable compensation of my mental, physical and financial losses, which I subjected to by your staff at airport on 11/03/2023.
I am waiting for a positive action taken report within a reasonable timeline.
