[Resolved] Jet Airways — Refund in Medical emergencies
I had booked tickets for my parents for Goa for 10th july on Jet airways. However due to my mother's emergency Bypass surgery, they were not able to travel. I had paid Rs 9834 for both the tickets. Jet airways took Rs 8000 as cancellation charges and gave back on Rs1238. I had written to their guest relations requesting them to consider the medical emergency and consider giving some more decent refund. First no one bothered to respond till 15 days and after sending reminders they gave a standard response of pasting their fare cancellation rule. I had offered to send my mom's medical records for them to verify if the case was genuine. But they did not bother to see anything and said no changes will be made. Such callous approach shows they are just interested in making money. I am sure they must have sold off the cancelled tickets at higher amount and recovered their cost. So they end up making double money, taking 80% of cost from cancelled tickets and then selling those tickets at higher rates. Also the cancellation of Jet airways is higher than other airlines like SpiceJet or Indigo. Who has given them rights to charge higher cancellation than other standard domestic airlines. If the government has agreed to let the any airlines charge such high cancellation charges for even low cost tickets that means the government is giving them rights to rob people openly of their hard earned money. I regret booking tickets on Jet airways. When our family was going through stressful times, Jet airways added to that stress with their stand on not giving waivers for any serious medical conditions. . Was this information helpful?
