I am writing this post on behalf of my mother who passed away in this hospital almost 6 months before. She was in one of the Critical Care Unit for close to 2 months. Here is the summary of the experience, based on my visit to the hospital and interaction with the CCU doctor in charge:
Some of their key decisions in terms of conducting life saving tests such as Bronchoscopy or CT scans are kept to the end. In my mother's case a test such as Bronchoscopy was done after her condition started deteriorating.
One of the key pathological test was done just 5 days prior to date of death and the report came just one day prior to her death. The cost of this test alone was close to 11, 000 Rs.
CCU doctors and their management are interested in only making money and settlement of the same at the earliest.Even if the patient is not fit to be shifted to a ward they would recommend shifting to a ward so that they can be discharged and bills be settled. In own words of the CCU doctor, one must value the CCU Bed!
