Kerala State Road Transport Corporation — Complaint Regarding Delay, Miscommunication, and Conductor Misbehavior Superfast Swift Bus (Angamaly to Kollam) on[protected]

Respected Sir/Madam,
I wish to register a formal complaint regarding an unpleasant and highly inconvenient experience I had while travelling on a KSRTC Superfast Swift bus from Angamaly to Kollam on[protected].
• Boarding & Initial Plan:
I boarded the bus at Angamaly around 9:10 AM, planning to reach Kollam by about 2:00 PM. Since I was in a hurry to attend a funeral, I purchased a ticket only till Vyttila Hub, in case I needed to change buses. The conductor confirmed there would be a 10–15 minute halt at Vyttila.
• Delay & Lack of Information:
We reached Vyttila at 10:00 AM. My cousin boarded there, and though there were other buses available, we chose to remain in the same one as the conductor said it would depart sharply at 10:15 AM.
However, the driver arrived only at 10:20 AM, and after issuing tickets, the bus left the hub only at 10:45 AM. It then halted again for 10 minutes near the Metro Station.
• Conductor’s Behavior:
When a co-passenger asked about the delay and requested a refund to take another bus, the conductor responded rudely, saying, “Avide enganum poi irikkado” and “Refund onnum tharan pattilla”. Several passengers, including myself, expressed dissatisfaction, but the conductor arrogantly stated that the bus’s departure time from Vyttila was 11:00 AM, and that he was waiting for a passenger. This was never communicated beforehand.
• Special Treatment for Late Passengers:
Around 11:00 AM, two passengers boarded, saying they were told the departure time was 11:00 AM. This clearly shows preferential treatment and lack of transparency for other paying passengers.
• Seat Reservation Mismanagement:
At the time of ticketing, my cousin and I asked if seats W11 and W12 were reserved. The conductor said they were not, so we remained seated. Later, at Alappuzha, I was asked to vacate my seat as it was reserved from Kayamkulam. Had we been informed earlier, we could have chosen other seats. Instead, I had to stand from Kayamkulam to Kollam.
• Excessive Lunch Halt:
As the journey was already delayed, the conductor could have informed all passengers about a strict return time after the lunch break, as is normally done. Instead, we ended up waiting for two passengers to finish their lunch. My cousin and I finished in just 10 minutes, but the break lasted nearly 30 minutes because of this.
Impact:
Because of these delays and mismanagement, I reached Kollam much later than planned, causing great inconvenience during a time when I was already in distress due to a funeral.
Request for Action:
I request KSRTC to kindly:
1. Investigate this incident and take necessary disciplinary action against the conductor for rude behavior and misleading passengers.
2. Ensure accurate communication of timings and seat reservations.
3. Review operational halts to prevent unnecessary delays.
