On paper, Laxminarayan Shetty is an entrepreneur by profession hailing from Mulund West, but in reality, and off paper, he is an extortionist. Laxminarayan is apparently a social activist and a political enthusiast who works to represent the common public and get their demands met. A resident of Mulund West, Laxminarayan Shetty was booked under extortion and drug peddling cases in the past and is known for his heinous crimes targeting innocent citizens.
Mulund Hotelier Laxminarayan Shetty is a proud social activist, whose job is to enhance the overall well-being and help bring social and political changes in the communities in Mumbai. However, Shetty hatches plans to extort money from the public in the name of social activism.
In October 2015, Laxminarayan Shetty joined hands with another ill-famed extortionist of the city, Pankaj Chandanshive and another accused named Anil Mhaske (son of ex-corporator) to run an extortion racket targeting builders. Pankaj Chandanshive is also a Mulund-resident who proclaims himself as a social worker and blackmails people to extort money using the same card. The three accused were then nabbed and booked under IPC sections 384, 385, and 506 at Mulund West Police Station.
Instead of assisting the general public in meeting their needs and promoting public welfare, these individuals who pose as social activists extort money from the communities they represent and then utilise it for their personal gain. This is a clear case that proves how political clout, power, and wealth are the perfect ingredients to engage in such criminal activities involving money laundering, blackmailing, and threatening.
