[Resolved]  Make My Trip — card not charged and I am being penalised

I made a booking for a stay at trident bkc, mumbai by paying rs 1. The balance was to be automatically charged to the card on 5th september. That was not done and the booking was cancelled and a penalty for non-payment imposed on me. Ridiculous. Here are the details:

Yesterday i was shocked to receive a mail informing me about the cancellation of my subject booking at hotel trident, bandra kurla complex, mumbai. And penalty amounting to rs 9665 was levied on me when i had not made any cancellation. Some details:

1. This booking was made against my sbi credit card (Xxxx xxxx xxxx 3858) and rs 1 was charged on the date of the booking.
2. The mail received at the time of the booking said “remaining amount of rs 36419 will be charged on the same card on 05 sep 2019”

On enquiring with make my trip yesterday, i was told that my bank ‘had not released the balance payment on 5th september’, the last date for cancellation. I was asked to check with the card department of the bank as to why the payment was delayed.

This was a strange request as make my trip should have directly raised the charge on sbi cards on 5th september. Nevertheless i checked and sbi confirmed that they had not received any request for payment and hence there was no denial of payment by them to make my trip.

Make my trip did not follow its due processes in sending the charge slip to sbi and is now blaming me for non-payment. I demand that make my trip furnish me a copy of the charge slip which they sent to sbi cards asking for release of payment.

This is a clear case of negligence by your organization which left me with no hotel booking and i had to re-book at much higher rates.

Make my trip should refund me the amount charged as penalty immediately and also compensate me for the higher charges i had to pay for re-booking my hotel accommodation.

I have been allotted a MMT travel finance limit. When I am trying to book a hotel using this emi facility I cannot view the option under emi section to pay using MMT travel finance.
