I had made a reservation for stay from 12-15th Aug'22 with Sterling Corbett resort through MakeMytrip. I paid an advance of Rs. 28, 470 for this booking. However, on 9th Aug, my wife had severe low back pain and our doctor recommended her bedrest for 10 days due to which we had to cancel our plan. I informed both MakeMytrip and Sterling on phone and email on the same day 6 PM, and requested to cancel with 100% refund of booking amount (free cancellation was applicable till 9th Aug 12 PM, so i was just 6 hours late). Then i followed up with them desperately through multiple calls and emails, but both were harassing me, asking me to talk to the other party. They bluntly refused for a refund. After multiple escalations on social media and to their seniors, Sterling offered a date change which i can't accept as i won't get official leave in the next few months. MMT has offered a 50% refund now, but i want 100% refund as this is my hard earned money and it is a genuine cancellation. Even if it is beyond their policy, such cancellations need to be looked at as exceptions and in a humane manner. Also, i got to know that Sterling Corbett cancelled my booking before my check-in date, and gave it to someone else but still did not refund my money. This is cheating the consumers clearly.
