[Resolved]  MakeMyTrip India — Forefitted 1, 54, 000 against booking id-in1607b4s1312110

It is regarding booking id-in1607b4s1312110 for swiss paris delight package for me and my husband booked with your website (Make my trip) on 27/07/2016 for 5 nights and 6 days starting from 25/08/2016 to 30/08/2016 by an initial amount of rs.20, 000 (Screenshot no.1 attached) booked with your agent mr. Trinath banarjee.

Issue number 1 (One) we were guided to apply for visa for but when we asked you to provide us what all documents will be required to apply for visa then we were specifically told to deposit further amount of rs.84, 000 only then you will be able to connect us with the concerned visa team but as we trusted the "brand make my trip" and we proceeded further and deposited the amount rs.84, 000 on the very next day of the booking i. E.28/07/2016 (Screenshot no.2 attached).

Issue number 2 (Two) now after the payment of rs.1, 04, 000 was made we were contacted by the concerned person mr. Piyush balda he guided us with the documents which were required till then we were already planning and preparing for our upcoming trip as we were told that we have ample amount of time for visa application and it will be done very easily and your concerned visa team cross checked the documents and we submitted the documents with the vfs global and being a first timer we were blindly relying on your so called visa team whom we thought were experts in this because you guys are such a big shot in travel industry and this was our biggest mistake and mistake number 1 but being unaware of this mistake we submitted all the documents on 5/08/2016 (Screenshot no. 3 attached) and we were told that you will get visa by next week.

Issue number 3 (Three):- now in our dreams we were all set to fly on 25th of august, 2016 and all the preparation were going on with full enthusiasm and after that there were no communication with your team no mail no call nothing but suddenly on 11/08/2016 i. E. Thursday evening (14 days before the flight) around 7. P. M i got a call from mr. Trinath banarjee asking to deposit full balance amount of 104, 981 but we denied to do that so he agreed for paying an installment of rs.50, 000 by eod and mentioned that if you do not make the payment your booking will stand cancelled, we were asked to deposit 50, 000 immediately at such a short notice and at this point i had some institutions that there is some serious fraud going because no one ask for money on such short notice of 5 hours but we were in the dreams of our euro trip which made us forget everything and since beginning we were blindly trusting the "brand make my trip" so we continued our blind trust again and deposited rs.50, 000 more on the same day before midnight (Screenshot no. 4 attached) which was our mistake number 2.

What happened after the deposit of rs 154000 that is nearly 75% of the total package cost - on 13/08/2016 in the morning a i got a call from ms. Shazia who mentioned that visa application has been refused and then i was connected with mr. Piyush again who told me that “you have not provided proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of intended stay” which we understood that there is some lack of documents from your side but mr. Piyush told us some different story which was not clear at all and then he sent the letter of rejection to me (Letter attached attachment no.5) here the point to be noted is that how can the documents gets rejected when they were approved by your specialized visa team and i have submitted all the documents only after approval forms your visa team only as it was a part of "brand make my trip".


Issue number 4 (Four) biggest fraud done here: after receiving the refusal letter we were exposed to most shocking part of whole incidence that visa refusal letter (Attachment no.5) issued to me was dated 10th ausgust, 2016 and that was a day before when we made further payment of rs.50, 000 at very short notice then it clearly clicked my mind that i have been cheated with our rs 1, 54, 000 and also it shattered our dreams of going on this euro trip because when you guys already got the intimation of refusal on 10th august then how can you ask for remaining money and the biggest fraud was that this letter was provided to me on 13th august.
We are not in stone age that a letter took 3 days to travel to me and which made my intuitions more clear that i am being cheated since i was not dealing with some local agent i was dealing with such a big brand and this couldn’t happen but i was completely shocked and clueless of what happened and it was a serious disgrace for your brand and was not expected from mmt.

Issue number 5 (Five) after all this sad news and shattered dreams of euro trip we were told that you do not have sufficient amount of time to reapply for visa and one of your executive mr. Rehman clearly told me that if you want us to do any further action in this matter then you have to pay the remaining amount of rs.54, 981 that too by end of the day only and then he will see what can be done these words should be noted that after i am 100% sure that i have been cheated by rs.1, 54, 000 and i cannot get the visa i was again asked to give remaining installment and on which he didn’t even committed anything he just bluntly denied to listen to any other thing and mentioned specifically that “make the payment otherwise i won’t listen anything and i[censored] don’t make the payment we will cancel the booking” which we obviously did not make because there were less than 7 working days left for the flight and there was no chance of visa re application why should we risk our remaming rs.54, 981.

After all this i got a mail from mr. Reham (Screenshot no.6 attached) saying that “due to non-payment of remaining amount all your amount has been forfeited.”


So what was my fault in all this due to discrepancy in visa application provided by you and not given us proper guidance our application got rejected and even after the rejection you guys took one more installment of 50k and at end i am being told that nothing can be refunded because visa has been refused.

I mean what did i get after dealing with your big "brand make my trip”???
A bag full of shattered dreams as now i cannot go this trip and risk of rs.1, 54, 000 but i am sorry guys i am not going to sit silently on this matter and don’t let you guys take my 1.5 lacs so either you guys take some serious action and provide us with some definite solution by refunding my amount or adjusting this amount toward some other country package or provide me with some other satisfactory resolution else i have to apply to the consumer forum regarding this matter and take some legal action against this matter and it is also going to affect your public image

Dear Ms.Bhatia,

Greetings from Make My Trip!!

In reference to your email and as per our discussion with the Mr. Manas Mehra on 30th august, we have conveyed him that we would cross checking the pointers raised by him and based on that we would be reverting further.

Now on the visa discrepancy issue, customer has already accepted in his previous e-mail that “Mr. Piyush reviewed those statement and on telephonic conversation he stated that the balance is not sufficient to which customer added that we will submit statement of her account and his husband’s account and jointly the balance will be more than the package total cost”. Now based on this discussion whatsoever document was offered by the customer to Mr. Shera (submission agent), same was forwarded in the order in which mandatory documents are filed. Now he cannot check or comment on the outcome of the case.

Secondly Visa was rejected on 10-Aug. Passport then goes to VFS & then to customer/MMT. It takes at least 48hours to get the passport from embassy.

Now as you group booking i.e. fixed departures we have only contracts with the suppliers for hotels (the cancellation impact is on the group reduction) and on the airfare contracts which are applied across the season (again in this seat are being blocked for the customer for which we have to pay a penalty to the airlines on utilization at end of season). Hence if you have might opted for individual package then we could have able to you share you the respective cost, but in this case we won’t be able to as the respective cancellation would applicable.
