They are real thief. they are carrying total money business. I had a simple infection and they condcuted 9 tests and asked me to go for 4 more test. I went to other hospital and came to know it was just a simple infection and nothing else ! they slowly take the money and anyone would not realize it as the money goes out of pocket gradually. It costed me more than 9k, the same disease was solved by another doctor for merely Rs 350 medicine !!!

S..even i agree with praveen. They are cheaters. I got a kidney stone stuck in my bladder. There they did scanning & inspite of me asking for my reports number of times they did not show.
I was misleaded. They told me its 7mm & have no option other than endoscopy. they asked me to sign something. I was partially unconscious that time & also at midnight 1am i had no choice.so i did it. after endoscopy also i asked for my reports to just see once.they denied. I asked them if i had any stones in my kidneys left.they told me none. later when i got discharged i saw my discharge summary which read 5.7mm stone stuck & not 7mm. Also one more stone in my right kidney..they ditched. I asked them that i wanted to speak to the concerned doctor. they denied. now im still suffering from the pain after endoscopy, which i was not told about the severity. even after 1 week since im suffering & no idea wat hell they have done with me.

    Hi,

I went to Manipal Hospital for consultation with neurologist for my father. Doctor said that they will do lumbar puncture test.Upon asking about details, I was told that its normal OPD procedure. The doctor who was in-charge of test just gave me a paper on which some medicines were written and asked me to get those. I went ahead and provided doctor with that medicine without asking anything. Then after some time, a nurse came out with a paper asking me to sign it which said that the doctors are not responsible for any unwanted scene during procedure.

I was surprised to see this, and was not able to understand why I was not asked to sign this even before procedure began.
Also after procedure got over, I was told that I need to pay around Rs 6000 before I can take back my father. I was again surprised with this behavior of hospital.
First they told me that this is a normal OPD procedure then, they were yelling at me to pay Rs 6000, and then only they will release my father.

They are real thief and don't inform you overhand about complications and cost of procedure and demand it afterwards.

I had been to this hospital for skin treatment and they charged me 500 rs for the consultation + registration. And I met so called Dr and old fellow Mukesh Ramane. He saw my problem and he didn’t even listen to me for a minute and said its ’WARTS’ and then he asked me to go for ’Liquid NitrogenSprayy’ (Crayo) and asked to pay 1060 rupees. Doctor told this is alternative solution for WARTS treatment and regular treatment will be burn and remove. So I agreed and wanted to avoid the pain of burning. He had also told I need to go under this for every 15 days for 4 times. And gave medicine for 4 weeks two tablets a week.

And I went for second Crayo and I didn’t want to visit him and Just wanted to get Crayo done and come back. But the supporting doctor who was with she knew this what he has suggested but still she forced me to visit him and I had to pay 400 again for his consultation. And that Stupid Mukesh Ramane didn’t even know what he was suggested to me and didn’t even check my previous records So I have to explain him all my problems again and tell him what he was suggested earlier on top of that he was not ready to listen to me. Even though they tell they will have records for all the things this lazy old fellow didn’t even check my previous records.

As I wanted a solution for my problem i continued this for 2 months and spend 1560 * 4 = 7800. When I went after 2.5 months for last review he told he need to burn it and remove and he won’t confidently say me for the cure of it and it may repeat again. And if it repeats he will burn again and remove it seems.

Finally I got scared and said i don’t want to go for that burn (or they call laser treatment) so he forced me to go for another Crayo again 1560 so totally I spent 9,360.

And I never went to the Doctor or Manipal hospital again. These doctors and hospital is just to make money for very small problems.

After all this stupid things with these doctors i went to another place (don’t want to mention) here they just suggested me tablets and ointment and with 3 weeks my problem is resolved and I am happy.

This Manipal hospital is there to just make money and nothing else.

I had thyroid problem which i did not know, I visited Manipal hospital, First I consulted Dr Sanjeev internal medicine, he made me do a number of tests that costed me 5000/- and finally told me I was normal, though I had a swollen throat.
Then I consulted Dr Mohan Badagandi, after looking into my reports he prescribed 100mg thyrox as my TSH was 13
I continued it and consulted him every 3 months, I took this medication for 2years, but suffered severe acidity problem and acid burns, started gaining weight and also the gal bladder mal function, I had to get the gal bladder removed, then I could not take it any more I consulted ayurveda , with that I came to know for 13 TSH I should have been given 50mg instead for 100mg, though my thyroid was with in range , I reduced the medication and most of my problem got resolved, still the muscle stiffness and numbness persisted, I understood I am suffering from side effects, then I came across a friend who is also having thryoid but not suffering this much She is taking thyronorm, after I switched ot thyronorm a different brand ah!!!!!!!!! what relief, i cannot imagine, though I told the doctor of my problems he always replying I don't know. thryox has lot of side effects , doctors should know this, it became a toxic in my body and I had to get my gal bladder removed and suffered acid burns, unable to eat any food properly.

I am writing this so that others you are suffering the same as mine, this can be of help.
In manipal, they are not going to the depth of the problem and resolving, we are paying so much money, they must feel the responsibility to understand the problem and address it, instead they are only interested in doing surgery and giving new brand medicine

I have admitted my Sister in law in your hospital in Salem. The treatment was excellent and she recovered soon. Thanks for doing that. But i had a severe problem with the admin there, they have not yet informed me about the mediclaim which i got from Star health insurance. (First time we admitted and discharged and again we re admitted the patient for further treatment only at that time they informed me about the claim which i got. incase if we have not re admitted what would have happened to my claim amount. (As per my knowledge the insurance policy says that the hospital should start treatment and to get the amount from the insurance company) Eventhough your admin people knows about this, they tortured me to pay advance for each and everything by cash.
I was worried in this issue and finally claim was given and informed to me also and now they returned me about Rs. 15,000 by cheque. Kindly look into this. Since this is a place where everyone had a great trust in everybody even they see people in hospital as GOD. So take some necessary action and try not to do these kind of practices for all the peoples in the future. We trust you !!!

I am a regular visitor(from 2005 till now) in this hospital for my wife, parents, in laws and aunt, uncle. Till last year I got good service but I can see now a days they become very rude. Today I visited Dr. Sadiq of Surgical Gastro dept. After had lots of test done, we went for the consultation with the doctor. He asked for a surgery to my mother in law. So to be sure I was asking him in detail and he was very rude. He asked my about my profession. I said software engg. He said "cant you understand anything out side of the computer? I am the only doctor who is taking to the patient for 10 mins(though it was not more than 3-4 mins). You can go to any doctor, they wont tell you in detail." . I made a complain and dropped in the suggession box. Is this the behaviour we expect from a well known hospital? As a patient we have rights to understand the issue. We copnsider doctors as "Next to GOD" but some doctors are "Next to Evil".

Trying to seek some advise on a hospital trauma that we went through. One of our close relatives aged 72 (female) was recommended colonoscopy because she had some chronic gastric problems. During the course of the diagnostic procedure
the doctor caused an intestinal perforation. This resulted in not only serious physical & emotional trauma for all o[censored]s but also severe financial loss because she was not covered under health insurance. When contacted the hospital
authorities and the doctor concerned, we were told that the Consent Form does clearly indicate that there is risk involved in such procedures and we have signed up to it and could therefore not bear any financial burden. Can the hospital get away
with something like this? The Discharge Summary obviously does have a statement that could cover the doctor of any negligence because it indicates that the perforation could have resulted because of adhesions that were formed during the
course of a previous surgery. Would appreciate any advise on how to respond, specially if you have had had a similar experiences.

                So here we go,

My mom had a problem with her health, she was experiencing frequent giddiness followed by a blank out.(she used to faint). so i had taken her to the near by hospital, were they gave her some glucose and termed it as vertigo and some tablets. she took the medication for 3-5 days but not improvement. so i took her to manipal and went to the neurologist. I met DR. A R Batt, he is such a irresponsible person, even though i am explaining everything he does not even bother to listen and said, please wait then he checks our old tablets and writes a series o[censored]nwanted tests. I ended up paying- 15k. They also made me take a MRI scan and they found some thing wrong with the inner ear balancing and he gave medicines for the same. I asked him how that wud cause giddiness and he said yes it is related. so again a list of tablets and my mom followed it for about 10 days no improvement. i was psyched, i went again he changed the tablets and again she took it for a week still no improvement. she again went through the giddiness atleast for 3-4 times a day.

So i stopped going to manipal and took her to ENT specialist, he diagnosed and gave a tablet which stopped all the problems she had in just 2 days, he never even asked me to do any test.

Dr's at Manipal are worthless their only motto is to steal from people and exploit their money to make profit.

I did not even have a insurance, so i had to cough out a hell a lotta money.

Manipal a bad choice +No good results. (Stay far far far away)

My mother were to undergo a cataract surgery under Dr. Anil Wani, Consultant, Ophthalmology Dept. During her first visit, he informed us that she would need to be operated upon on both her eyes as they had started developing cataract, and that they could be operated within a space of 7 days!

Naïve as patient is expected to be, we agreed. During the day of the so-called second check up, the doctor left us in the care of Junior Doctors and only brought us to his room to inform us that she needed to be admitted a day before the operation! Something unheard of for a cataract operation. Again we agreed. We felt puzzled as to why the doctor did not check her in person and why no diagnostics tests were done on her, like the mandatory blood tests.

Worse was to follow. The doctor, however, had by that time worked out a pro-forma invoice of the cost estimates, which ran up to a whopping Rs. 34, 000/-. Surprisingly, he had estimated a mere Rs.6, 000/- for the lens that had to be implanted! On further enquiry it revealed that the lens that he was trying to pass off was a very ordinary one.

A quick calculation would reveal that as per his estimates Rs. 28, 000/- was for everything else other than the lens, which should have been given the highest priority.

Needless to say we backed off.

Shame on you Dr. Wani! You have prostituted a noble profession.
Doctors like Anil Wani & his lot should be banned from practicing.

The Manipal hospital Bangalore takes pride in being one of the premier hospitals in Bangalore. When you think of this hospital you think this is a corporate hospital that is well staffed. However the truth is that they are understaffed and do not have enough junior doctors or registrars.

The Junior doctors are made to work for more than 24 hours in one shift every week and in multiple night shifts which start at 3 pm in the afternoon and extend till 11 or 12 the next day. The turnover is very high as the junior doctors feel exploited and underpaid.

And what do they pay, a measely 18-20 K a month for a doctor who has put in 5 years of education.

The MOH has laid down the following guidelines but this is not adhered to.

Ministry of health and family welfare, Government of India sent consolidated instructions to all states and UT administration vide letter number S-11014/3/91 ME(P) regarding implementation o[censored]niform Central Residency Scheme after the directives of the Supreme Court in its judgment dt. 25.9.87 in writ petition No. 348-352 of 1985,
The instruction No.13 of this letter ‘Hours of Work', it is mentioned that
"Continuous active duty for resident doctors will not normally exceed 12 hours per day. Subject to exigencies of work the resident doctors will be allowed one weekly holiday by rotation. The resident doctors will also require to be on call duty not exceeding 12 hours at a time. The junior Residents should ordinarily work for 48 hours per week and not more than 12 hours at a stretch subject to the condition that the working hours will be flexible as may be decided by the Medical Superintendents concerned keeping in view the workload and availability of doctors for clinical work."
As we see, here total weekly hours of work (48 hrs/week) as well as the maximum hours in single stretch (12 hours) are clearly defined. Of course the authorities may remind us the flexibility given in above instruction. However we would like to state the following.
                  a) Any flexibility given by law or constitution should only be used as a special measure and must not be used as ROUTINE. Today Medical colleges in India are forcing Junior doctors to work continuous 24 Hrs (!) and this is being practised routinely for last many years.
                  b) That flexibility is given for 'Working hours' & not for hours of work that is, while authorities are free to post any doctor in day or night or in holidays, they must stick to the norms of "hours of work" that is Maximum 48 hours in a week and 12 hours Finally even if the total no. of doctors posted (when all posts are filled) are not able to cope with work load under normal working-hours-limit then the no. of post must be increased. In no case junior doctors to be forced to work more than what is permitted by law and various recommendations. in a single stretch.

I had a very bad experience with Manipal Hospital on 30th January 2010 which I would like to place on
                    records.

Now here comes the saga. I reported at 4.20 PM to the receptionist at Fetal Medicine Department. She told me that I will have to wait. In between I asked her 4-5 times that I am feeling uncomfortable. She told me to wait. In between I have noticed that people who came after me also got the scanning done. Then at-last at 6.50 PM, I went to her and told that my bladder is full and I can’t resist. Then very reluctantly she called inside and I was called inside. They did the scan for me and commented, my bladder is overfull (how it will not be? I was taking water from 3 O’ clock as per the receptionist’s instruction). Surprisingly, I also learnt that there were vacant rooms available for scanning.

My question to the Management here is when I take an appointment at 5.00PM with my bladder full, I got my scanning done after so much of persuasions at 6.50 PM, where does the appointment stand and where is Manipal’s “personal touch”?

Being a person who is associated with a service industry more than 6 years, I felt the service I got from Manipal was unprofessional. In service industry, we consider our “customer as the king”. I expect minimum humanitarian consideration from a hospital industry, where “customers are emotionally turmoiled.

If the receptionists are becoming doctors in such a reputed hospital, what quality they offer? Me myself, my husband who is a Doctor, and the people who waited there were laughing over the receptionist, was giving advices to all patients coming to Fetal Medicine Department.

I had an appointment with Dr.Thankam of fetal medicine department today at 9.00.She is the most rude and unprofessional doctor i met ever in my life.It was for downsyndrome scanning, and from beginning this lady was shouting at me by asking why are you late etc etc... I was very excited as it is my second scan and was very eager to see my baby .But the behaviour of this lady spoiled my entire day.she was pressing the probe so hardly on my stomach that i afraid at a point that it will result in miscarriage .when i said it is painful, she literally shouted at me .my husband was called inside after some time and he asked what is the CRL .she answered as 64.then i asked is it cm or mm.she started laughing at me and insulted me and my husband for another 10 mins.we were helpless and dint know how to mange the situation as it is the first experience that without any reason a person that too a doctor insulting us.After sometime only we regained our conciousness and now i strongly feel i have to do something against this.I hate manipal .
I strongly agree with you opinion. I also had a very bad experience with Dr. Thankam. She is ia junk doctor. She has a regular gossip mentality, she keeps gossiping with nurses about your reports which are so important for you. She should quit medical profession and sit at home and gossip.
I had similar experience in the radiology/ scanning department where few of the stuffs don't even know how to behave with patients and/or her guardian. They seem to be always busy in chatting among themselves and very reluctant to answer your questions. Also, Dr. Thankam who had checked my wife once, is literally rude/ uncultured. It appeared to me that she pretends to be too hi-fi that answering your simple questions makes him irritated. But i would of course say that there many doctors in this hospital who are really good. The same is true for many stuffs in other departments as well.
Dr.Thankam is too rude and unprofessional. Never visit her !
                    Hi,

Poor service saga contnues...@ MANIPAL. Irresponsible doctors who donot believe in execution at all. Just want to make sure they make a round for a second so the ticket continues...AC doesnt work..to add to that no water supply is there...and customer (so called patients) are charged a bomb in the name of world class facility

                    Regards
                    Ankur
                    Hi,

I also had similar experience with Dr Thankam recently.I want for my scan there.I was waiting eagerly to see my baby, both me and my husband were so happy. At the end of the scan, I asked her a question which was not at all a foolish question. She started shouting at me.My husband who was waiting outside also heard it and got worried. She gave weird answers and continued shouting. This kind of rude behaviour was so much unexpected.Even uneducated people dont behave this way.I almost had tears in my eyes. This stupid lady spoiled my whole day. These kind of people spoil hospital's reputation and they have no right to be in that job which is related to people's emotions.Only a personal with some mental problem can behave like Thankam.Other doctor's with whom I interacted till date are so nice and gentle.
This lady should be thrown out of the hospital.
Please check the doctor before you go for scanning to Manipal. And if it is Thankam, please get it changed to Dr Supriya or someone else.
We went to Dr Thankam for our 9th month scanning and it was horrible experience. We went on time, due to pathetic parking at manipal I asked my wife to wait in the scanning area while I park my car. I got delayed by 15mins and this lady is so arrogant she was taunting my wife about my absence. Finally, when we went to scanning room she behaved so arrogantly and didn't bother to tell us about health of the baby. When my wife asked some questions she got annoyed. Worst doctor on the planet. Don't ever go to this lady.
Today i had a horrible experience with Dr. Thankam, not syre whether Manipal doesn't see these comments or what?such kinda horrible doctor is responsible to deteriorate the patients condition, she was absolutely unprofessional, rude nd unpolished in such field...I swear never go to this unprofessional lady nd never recommend as well...I wish to complaint to this Manipal Mgt now

My wife visited the hospital OPD on April1, 2009 and set up an appointment with Dr. Shobharani in the gyneacology department. After waiting for about an hour and being questioned by a junior doctor she was asked to visit the doctor's chamber. The doctor did not even ask her about the complaints she had. The doctor simply said that she had heard the case from the junior and hence prescribing three tests. Even when wife tried to tell her what complaints she had (which the junior doctor did not ask about), the doctor flatly refused to hear. she was not even asked to sit. the total time she was in the doctor's chamber is 2 minutes. This, after shelling out 300 rupees and 1 hour of precious time.

I had a similar experience with Shobha Rani, I waited for 2 hrs for my turn to come and finally when I entered the doctor's room, She didn't see my reports also, I kept on insisting to see it. She just went ahead and prescribed few medicines. She hardly gave me couple of minutes. She did this to me twice after that I stopped going to her, i changed my doctor.
I had ear surgery in Command Hospital which was unsuccessful because I got infection in Ear post surgey. later I went to Manipal Hospital and consulted Dr. Girish Rai. He gave me hope that he will do my ear operation one more time and my ear problems will be rectified. I believed him and underwent ear surgey one more time. This opeartion costed me Rs. 89, 000 but before operation they assured me that it will cost me around 30, 000. After operation they gave me 5 page bill and told they have used these stuff during operation for which I need to make payment. One week after the operation when I went again to know the status of my Ear, he told me...ohh this operation was unsuccessful...and it could be your fault that you did not take care of your Ear post operation. He asked me with shameless face...Can you come again for the opration???? Hence I advice you all "Never get operated from Dr. Girish Rai" who speak well but not Skilled to operate anyone"
                      Dear Sir/Madam,

My wife Ayesha Begum resident of Dubai took my daughter Afiyah Wasim to Dr. shaila B on Wed 17/04 at 11:20AM in Manipal Hospital, HAL Old airport road, Bangalore

Dr. Shaila miss treated my wife during the visit, she harassed her by yelling at her. Please note my wife was operated in same Manipal just 1week before and she was not able to stand for a long time and the doctor was commenting" If you have come from Mysore, roam around and go back, why u people come to hospital" "meet me in my clinic and take the address from my assistant outside the room ", Doctor didnt even saw the patient nor listen to the patient problem and just wrote list of blood tests to be done.

This treatment of Doctor Shaila is not acceptable and she is doesnt have any courtesy to deal with the patient.

I want the doctor to apologize for her misbehavior and not to repeat this with other patients.

                        Hi,

I would like to register a complaint against the attitude of doctors from above said institution. I have had the unfortunate association with some doctors of the above said organization.

My relative is a paralytic patient and was diagonised with a tumor. She had been earlier admitted in the Manipal hospital for treatment for stroke and was taken care of (Thanks to the Doctor from General Medicine who attended her). Once discharged from the hospital after the stroke, which rendered her completely motionless and bedridden, the hospital always showed reluctance to even send a nurse home to change her catheters - it should be noted that the patient stays about 50 meters from the hospital.

When she had other problems that was getting very painful and traumatic on her, we decided to get a doctor to see her. Hoping for a caring attitude similar to what we got from the General medicine doctor, we approached the departments of oncology and gyenacology. We took her to casuality ward during these checkups, and while the attitude of nurses was always caring, the callousness and the ineptitude of the duty (junior) doctors was quite shocking. It is quite disappointing to note that Manipal is grooming a bunch of money minded junior doctors without any compassion or even a basic doctor's instinct, intuition, or presence of mind. When she was screaming her lungs out of pain and fear. they used to get impatient and ask US to take care of her. I wonder if WE had the treatment for her pain, why would we have gone to THEM??

Still not giving up hope, we consulted the same hospital for her tumor. The attitude of the doctors towards her was definitely not appreciated. I regret to say that they were actually wondering aloud, about trying to save a patient who has lost speech, and mobility to the stroke. I want to insist here at that point, she was very much alive and active in the possible capacity otherwise. It was extremely **** to see them give up on a patient even before they could examine her.

We got another specialist from another Hospital who did not think twice before operating upon her. He said, just because she cannot talk or walk, does not mean she has no right to be given proper care and a fighting chance to live a life without pain. This attitude from the other hospital was exactly the opposite of Manipal. In Manipal, the life of a fully disabled person does not carry any value, whereas in this other hospital, every life has equal value, whether it is of a 5 year old kid, or an 60 year old immobile, speechless stroke patient. The cancer specialist took the risk, and operated on her and gave her a new lease of life, something Manipal did not even consider. Her stroke could not be treated as it was late. However, she was cured of her trauma and agony, due the specialist.

Few months later, we had to administer her an injection. The family had requested a doctor (who was a neighbour) who was associated as a junior doctor with Manipal hospital and he simply adviced (over closed door) that it is not for a doctor to give injections.A considerate input from a future doctor. Based on his advice we went to the Manipal Hospital Casuality. The duty doctor there gave a response that it is difficult to send a nurse (not even a doctor) to do that as the prescription was not from Manipal Hospital.
WILL THE HOSPITAL NOT TAKE CARE OF PATIENTS WHO ARE NOT REGULARS AT MANIPAL?

As soon as we asked the question about the rules in the hosiptal about requiring a prescription for treating a person at home and argued, they changed stands, and said they will see what they can do and sent a nurse. Please note that this was not a free service. They had charged for Rs.400 for admininistering an injection which took totally 5 minutes.

I am not sure which is the forum I would have to register my grievaces. I hope this is better than not registering and bringing into notice the trauma they are giving to the concerned family.
