Maruti Suzuki — Problem in ertiga gearbox

Address:New Delhi, Delhi

have bought new Ertiga in October 2013, i got it properly serviced from Maruti Service Master Okhla all 3 services, my car has done only 23000 kms. In April 2015, my car having problem with gear as i cant lower my gear from 3rd to 2nd gear. But i can put it in 2nd after 1st. So i shown my car to service station. They took the car & fixed it in 2 days changed couple of parts in gear box, that happened on 22 april[protected] kms, now after exactly after 2 months on 22 june[protected] kms again same issue in my car gear box. Now service station is saying it came back again because that time i never got clutch set changed. If i have got clutch set changed then this problem would have not come. Now they are saying i have to get clutch set changed & changing clutch set will be chargable as its not covered by warranty. But if problem was because of my clutch set then why my vehicle was working fine after they changed the part in april. Now i request some high technical staff to look into my case. And there is one more Ertiga stationed with MSM for same problem. Thanks Harpreet Singh [protected] [protected]

I HAVE PROBELM reported at bangalore banngergatta maruti dealer ..they have recommended to change clutch ..gear sync problem ..seems as though covered by addtional warranty opted by me ...ertiga VDI ..2012 MODEL ..Done 49K kms .They are charging INR 7k for clutch replacement (labour included 2500INR)

Seems as though known issues with swift, dsire models as well when clocked aroung 40-50k PLUS Kilometers. check the below
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/161673-ertiga-dzire-swift-gearbox-...

Should Maruti recall all vehicles with the above known issues...Will they do it?
I faced the similar issue in my Ertiga vdi (2013, 32 Km run) from few days. The gear box refuses to shift from 3rd to 2nd .the 2nd gear engages sometimes but most of times does not.
I am facing the same issue with my Sep-2012 Ertiga ZDI. My 2008 Swift with the same DDIS engine still going strong but Ertiga giving problem.
I think maruti suzuki should recall all vehicles with this same defect and get them repaired with nominal charges to customer (if any). This way they will save credibility and retain customers. This is assuming they do care for their existing Customers.
Having same gear issue with my ertiga VDI 2013 model.I have got it repaired at maruti service centre and paid about 20k, only for this gear issue twice. But still having same issue again, i just don't understand why company is still continuing this model as almost all ertiga model is facing the same issue.I too have an swift bought in 2006 an no such issues till date.

Company must consider this issue either by recalling this model or by fixing this issue to maintain its goodwill and customer satsisfaction.I do want to replace this by another seven seater but by no chance i will go to any maruti suzuki model now, until and unless i get some satisfied service for my ertiga gear issue.
I'm facing the same issue (gear shift from 3rd to 2nd) for the second time on my 2012 Ertiga VDI. First occurrence was around 35, 000 kms. The same issue re-surfaced around 40, 000 kms. During the first instance, the Authorised service centre guy told that this issue is with the synchroniser ring, hence got it replaced. They charged me INR 8, 000 for this work. Now just after 5000 km, the same issue resurfaced. When enquired with the same service centre, they argued that this is a known issue and since there is no guarantee for spares, he quoted the around INR 8, 000 for repairs. Also, he wasn't competent enough to answer all our queries. This was an annoying and frustrating experience.

Maruti Suzuki should address this issue holistically by replacing all defective units to retain the customer loyalty. If this isn't done, I'm sure Maruti Suzuki will loose customers like me.

By writing in this forum, I hope this reaches the concerned agencies.

I had bought Ertiga VDI in April 2014. I got the gearbox problem cropped in when i was close to 48000 KMs. I couldnot shift from 3 to 2. Everytime i had to go to 1 and then to 2. I got is serviced from OM sai authorised service center for 8400 rs. and he told me that there wont be any problem for 2 years. He also said that this is a problem with most of the ETRTIGA and many other models also. I have now covered 72000 KMS and the problem is back again. Its only 9 months since i got it serviced and the service center guys say that there is no warannty MGA. Its really frustrating. This was my second maruti. My dads wagon R bought in 2007 is still going strong without any problem. I will not ever again buy a Maruti Car. Bad Customer services and i think they have started selling substandard products now..

A frustrated Maruti Ertiga Customer.

Every ertiga owner is facing this probleem early or later .The problem is not due to bad driving or bad maintenance but it is due to manufacturing defect.company should take the responsibility and call all the vehicles and resolve the common problem every ertiga owner is facing. As it is costing the owners 10k-15k to solve the problem.some vehicles are getting the same problem even after replacing the synchronizer rings it is bad to worse after spending 10k-15k the problem is repeated.as it is manufacturing defect the company should take the responsibility to solve the problem otherwise the name and trust on the company will decrease which will effect on there vehicles sale especially ertiga
I had a similar problem around 50000 kms, which was identified as a synchronizer issue. Got it changed under warranty. Now after 70000 kms, the problem has resurfaced and i am sure they will ask even the clutch plate to be changed. No point giving a bad feedback for the service center, which is essentially a manufacturing defect. With so many people experiencing the same issue and the company not taking any action, i guess its a ripe case for mass consumer court suite.

Hi, same problem not shifting to 2nd gerar from third. Done only 32000K and it’s a 2014 model.
Service centre charging me 17000 for complete replacement of flywheel, cables, ring
I bought swift vdi in 2014 and it has same problem with my car too. Difficult to shift gear from 1 to 2 nd gear. Got gear box repaired twice .once at 47000 kms n again at97000 kms. I think Maruti company is a cheat one . Instead of getting repeated complains from customer it's not getting its technology updated becos they have captured the Indian market.
Hi, I have purchsed Ertiga VDI (Nov-2012) model (85k km) resale in Aug-2017, I was also facing this gear shifting issue in the month of June 2018. My car was having same problem with gear, I can't lower my gear from 3rd to 2nd gear. But i can put it in 2nd after 1st. One of the good garaje in Mira Bhayandar road, they have fixed the issue but tht time they just replaced the cluct plate and other parts. After 4k to 5, 000 km I am facing same issue last week i.e. 21-Dec-2018, now they will check gear box. That person also tole me as this is manufacturing defect in Ertiga VDI, I don't know why Maruti company is not recall all these model. Every time we need to spent amount for this issue.
We have purchased Maruti Ertiga VDI in October 2013

Now it has run only 73000 kms till date and developed snag in 2nd gear as it is not clogging properly and

in this regard yesterday I approached one of your service centres to check this issue and according to them gear rings are damaged and they have to be replaced along with new clutch plates and

given me around Rs., , , , , , - estimate for this repair.

Sorry to say I have not expected such a low quality transmission from a highly reputed name in the automobile industry whose name often appears at top in quality standards.

Since it is a manufacturing defect (due to poor quality) in transmission, the company should recall my car at authorised service station and get the repair free of cost to retain customer loyalty.

Anticipating for a positive response from your side at the earliest.
