    Hi,

I own a Honda City and purchased in the month of Jan 2013. My car had Michelin XM1 tyres. I all of a sudden noticed in the month of Dec 2015 that my tyres were running bad. This isnt about worn out tyres.. but it is getting damaged. My ODO is only 35K KMS run.

I need some one from Michelin to check on my tyres and certify or replace.

Hi have bought Michelin tyre 3 months back at 30% higher cost than other tyres available.

I have noticed a bubble on side surface of tyre and approached customer care. An inspector was sent who gave me all unrealistic reason not to cover the bubble under warranty, Like air pressure in other tyres are inadequate.

My several follow-ups went futile with customer care. No one bothered to give me a call to discuss the issue despite request registrations on grievances on their website and follow-up calls.

These kind of issues are addressed without asking any question by other brands. I made a mistake to buy these tyres looking at their service quality now.

        Hi
It is with utter grief and disappointment that I am writing this mail to you. I am amazed to see the state of affairs Michelin India has gotten into. I had purchased 4 Michelin primacy 3ST 195/60/R15 tyres for my Fiat Linea (So called best & premium tyres in the market) from Madaan tyres New Delhi 3 months back in October, I had paid 25, 000 bucks for a set of 4 tyres. To my surprise within just 3 months o[censored]sage and roughly after 1500 kms, one of the tyres have developed a side bulge with very careful driving. I have literary babied the car being an automotive enthusiast.
After talking to few of my friend on TEAM-BHP( Indian Automotive Forum ) I went ahead and lodged the complaint with Michelin India and was assured that necessary steps would be taken to rectify the issue, I then got a call from Michelin Account manager- Mr Alok Goyal who promised to get the tyre surveyed which he did after a couple of follow ups. After the survey I was told that car has been involved in a mishap due to which tyre has been damaged and nothing can be done about it. Car alloy was absolutely perfect though without sign of any damages, it was difficult to digest the statement because as I had said earlier I had babied the car like I usually do in these last two month.
After further discussion with Mr. Goyal I was told that it’s because you have purchased the primacy 3ST tyres that I am entertaining you otherwise god knows what would have happened. This was when your dealer (Silver Line Automobiles- Dehradun) where I got it surveyed was taking my favour and was counter questioning Mr. Alok Goyal about the quality of these new tyres. Few minutes later I was offered a 40% discount if a purchase a new tyre which was beyond my understanding.
Michelin has authorised its dealers to sell these tyres in India after a formidable amount of research and development and if I am being told that the tyre got into a pot hole (Which never happened) which we have in abundance in India and that too after just 1500kms o[censored]sage and nothing can be done about it. I feel pity for Michelin and its rude staff that I had to go through this. Even my stock good year tyres gave a lifespan of 48, 000 Kms before I opt for these tyres. I even have a Triumph Superbike wherein I got Michelins fitted few months back and I would not be amazed if those get any sort of defects in near future.
I would be more than happy to get all the tyres replaced and get local tyres fitted as there is no point in getting premium & faulty tyres if they don’t even last for 2000 odd kms. I would request your views on this matter if you can spare some time of course.
        Regards
        Sahil Bansal

Thank you, i was planning to buy Michelin primacy 3 for my Skoda laura, reading your review. I have decided to go for Bridgestone Turanza ER300.
Why only Michelin tires get these problems ???
All the complaints have Michelin tires only..
Can't these Michelin ### understand that ?? Instead of putting blame on our roads !

Hi – I bought Honda City in 2012 Oct, which was fitted with Michelin tyres. After 1 year (3000kms) one of my tyre was busted while driving it was with a sudden unbalance. I didn’t pay much attention to it and got a tube fitted within the tyre and was using it as a spare wheel. Again after 6 months (4000kms) while running on a patchy (without any holes) road tyre busted with a huge imbalance. I was traveling with my family and it was very risky to get into such a situation. This one I replaced with new michelin tyre which I feel was my greatest mistake. Now Again after 3 years (7000kms) I was travelling on a national highway NH8 and suddenly got a flat tyre. While replacing found that there are cracks in the tyre on the side wall and there was a hole on the side wall, it was busted again. This time it was very hard to balance the car on the highway. By god’s grace nothing happened and we were safe. I have other cars as well which are fitted with MRF or JK tyres and they are running perfectly fine from 10 years. I don’t know of what Michelin tyres are made up of. These are so risky without any impact they are getting busted. No one can rely on them. These are not cost effective as well, they cost approx. around Rs 5500 - Rs6500. I am looking for proper justification why it happened and that to 3 times in a row. This is a matter of safety for a family. Thanks, Ruchir Jain [protected]@gmail.com

I have a tyre with manufacturing defect since 4th july 2015 but i am still struggling to show it to your company representatives. This also means i am driving without a spare tyre since then...

Here is the narration of my entire experience:
            1. I bought this tyre on 13th june 2015 from your dealer darshan typres, lulla nagar, pune, maharashtra, india.
            2. On 4th july i went abck to the dealer reporting a manufacturing defect. The dealer said he cant help me, only michelin executives are authorized to check and confirm. He tried contacting your personnel over the phone, but the michelin executive refused to pick up the phone. The dealer assured me of contacting the to michelin representatives and get back to me.
            3. The dealer gave me the call centre number of michelin tyres and asked me to log for a complaint on it.
            4. I tried contacting the michelin call centre several times for almost a week, the call either used to get disconnected just before i could hear the call center agent or was never able to reach them. It is very sad to say, in todays era of customer eccentricity, michelin never even bothered to call back their customers whose call was dropped midway.
            5. After many attempts i got in touch with your call centre on sunday, 12th july 2015. The call center agent took a note of my complaint but did not commit to the visit date, only insisted that i shall get a call from the engineer.
            6. I received a message from michelin on 14th july 2015 stating - "dear customer, thank you for contacting michelin india helpdesk. Our michelin account manager laxshmikant birajdar with mobile number. [protected] will contact you shortly. Your case reference number is clmh140715py01. Regards, michelin india"
            7. Since this message till date not a single soul from michelin has contacted me. I have made several attempts to contact mr.Lakshmikant birajdar on the said number, but he refuses to pick up the calls or reply with a message or call back.

Plz let me know as a frustrated customer what do you expect me to do????????

            Thank you.

            Best regards
            Jaydeep

My Car came with Michelin tyres. After 3-4 months I saw there is a bulge on the side wall of front tyre. I contacted the Michelin people and they assured me that an engineer will visit for inspection, but it took them appx. 3 months to send someone for inspection after repeated follow-ups from my side. By the time the engineer visited, the bulge has cracked and the tyre got punctured. The engineer said that it was due to an impact and the company will not replace it and even after my repeated attempts to clarify the situation and the problem, he was adamant on not changing his stance. There was no mark on the Rim of any impact on the alloy wheels, but the engineer has refused to listen to my claim.Within a another tyre got punctured when the car has run into a pothole. Immediately, I have changed all my tyres to bridgestone as I cannot trust the product and the company in case of any mishap. The Michelin management should look into the matter of product suitability for Indian road conditions, durability and the customer service and should act more responsibly, because there is life at stake.

I had changed all 4 tyres of my Honda city to Michelin energy XM2 From Goodyear at a Honda service center in Bangalore after hearing its much hyped performance on road. XM2 price is at least 30% more than Goodyear.

Pros of Michelin tyres: The noise level is less. Pick up is somewhat better.

Cons: The road grip is less compared. At high speeds, braking is less as the friction between tyre to road seems to be less. Vehicle slips if the road is rough. Slipping even happens when you move the vehicle from stall on inclined roads. Very uncomfortable situation. A number of small stones get stuck between the tyres thus affecting the balancing of wheels at high speeds.

While I was continuing despite all the above issues, after running for about 15000 KMs the treads (all 4 tyres) consistently started cracking and some treads started getting chipped off. The tread depth is still 6 mm at the edges. I had logged a complaint with Michelin India and an inspector came and checked the tyre. My claim was simply rejected stating aggressive road conditions. In my 10 years of driving experience I have seen wear and tear of tyres due to whatever aggressive roads or aggressive driving or poor alignment or poor inflation of tyres. But very surprised to hear that treads crack or chip off due to aggressive road conditions. I drive the vehicle in Bangalore where I can not cross 40 KMPH due to heavy traffic, and I treat this reason given by Michelin as illogical. I am not sure how to escalate this matter to Michelin higher authorities. But the cracks are aggravating making the driving very uncomfortable.

One more thing, just 1 month before I bought the tyres, my colleague too replaced his car tyres with Michelin energy XM2. He is also seeing the same problem of cracking & chipping recently.

So, in my opinion, it is some defect in the tread material if not I can conclude that Michelin XM2 is suitable for Indian roads, even in cities like Bangalore where roads are in relatively better condition. Please see the photos of cracked tyre treads.

I am not able to upload the photos, tried many times, else would have shared some nice pictures of tyre.

I too have a similar experience with Michelin tyres. In fact with exactly the same number of KMs as you have mentioned in your original post.
I changed my set of 5 old JK tyre with brand new Michelin tyres. This is in Bangalore a shop called Madhus tyre center. I have done just 15000 Kms and all the tyres are cracked and chipped. I also notice a full line of crack around the tyre on all the 4 wheels. The cars is serviced on time and the wheel alignment and rotation is also done as per the records by Maruthi service center.

Michelin tyres have lost their name in India at least as per my knowledge.
My advice is not to go for Michelin Tyre. It is only a brand.
Typically big brands don't compromise when customers make warranty claim for such defects. In my case, since all tyre treads chipped of[censored]niformly, it was a clear case of manufacturing defect. But the warranty person from Michelin was adamant saying it's the rough road condition and does not qualify under warranty. I wanted to move to consumer court, but didn't have time to do so.

The fault occur after 2013 make tyre. The rubber Michelin used has not all season rubber.Either 2 summers or 2 winter passed away, the rubber get cracks technically known as chipping.
If your running is 40k per year then go for it, unless it is useless for you.
In a complaint form of michelin you have to tick down the chipping option. You will get 50% of the remaining tyre.
For ex, if you used 30 % then the remaining tyre left is 70% and you will get 50% of 70 % means 35% of total tyre but technically your tyre runs more than 35 % .
So there has no need to get headache.

Low Quality Micheline Tyre getting punctured again and again

                    Address: Pune, Maharashtra

My digital warranty number is DWMH120414CZ68. I have purchased 4 Michelin Tyres in April 2014 from Pune. Since then I am having a horrible time with one of my tyres. In these 4 months that one specific tyre has got punctured 13 times. The remaining 3 tyres are perfectly fine. I seriously believe that this fourth tyre is a defective one. In all the 13 puncture instances not even one nail or any sharp material was found pierced in the tyre...

I bought four Michelin 215/75R15 TL (Lat) tyres on 23 Dec 2013. Out of the four tyres one of the tyres got a crack on the sides within 45 days of purchase. Initially the crack was small and not very much visible, however it started getting bigger. The crack is an uneven crack on the side of the tyre. The tyre was within the guarantee period (within three years). I contacted the dealer on phone and informed him about the crack and instantly got a reply that it must be a cut by some sharp object. Later when I went to the dealership (Zig Wheels) Sec 54, Gurgaon, the dealership owner looked from approximately 4 feet and instantly said it was a cut mark. On protesting and giving him a logical reason that the cut is in the center of the tyre and not the base which touches the ground and the cut is uneven which cannot happen through a sharp object, he said that I need to contact the company employee and he cannot do anything about it. On getting in touch with the company executive, the response was the same. It appeared that everyone is prepared with a predefined answer. Further to my surprise, I was told that the sales person is the final authority and my claim for replacement is being rejected. There is no technical way to determine that it’s a manufacturing defect. The decision was instant and taken within a couple of minutes and later on my consistent persuasion, the tyre was examined. I was informed that it is I crack on the upper layer and the ply beneath is intact. I do not wish to continue with the tyre as it is a danger to me and my family. It is a clear case of cheating and harassing a customer. I was advised to drive with the same tyre or purchase another one. I urge the senior authorities to look into the matter and arrange for the replacement. A straight forward rejection without any logic or reasoning and any technical evaluation is not at all acceptable. It is hard earned money which I have spent and paid 35-40% more than other available and equally trusted brands. I feel cheated and repent on spending with this brand and the kind of behaviour is unexpected from such a reputed brand. Never for a moment i felt that there was an intention to resolve the issue but always a predetermined statement to reject the claim. Abhishek Ruchir [protected]

On 1st of August i had purchased Honda Jazz(Select) with Michelin Tyre on it, from Pinnacle Honda,Kolkata. When i bought the car i was told that there is no warranty on tyres. Within a week right side of the front wheel got bursted from the side wall. I was very shocked to see such kind of damage to a new tyre and that too of a company like Michelin. I was very disappointed. I got it repaired from a local shop on the very same day as i was not sure about the quality of tyres and thought that my other tyre might also get bursted. I thought of complaining but i had no idea where to complain as i was informed that there is no warranty on tires.

On 3rd of September i went to Pinnacle Honda for the 1st service and then i complained regarding the tyre to my service advisor. He told me to take that tyre and show it to any Michelin Tyre Shop but when i told him that i got it repaired locally, he told that now nothing can be done. He told that if it was not repaired it could have shown to Michelin People and i told him that i was told that there is no warranty of tyres that is why i got it repaired outside. I had no option except doing this as i felt unsafe travelling without spare wheel. In the evening when i received the car after the service i found the left front tyre was cutoff and immediately complained it to the service advisor. He told it was already there when i gave the car before the service. This cutoff was not there at all as i am 100% sure i have not met with any sort of accident due to which my tyre can get damaged. I was not ready to accept the car with that tyre but the service advisor kept me telling that it was from before as there is no such place in there workshop where tyre can get damaged. I asked them how is it possible with a new tyre like this but didn't got any answer. He then told me that they will complain it to Michelin and if possible they will help me replacing those tyres. They told that its the beginning of a new month so its not possible right now to complain right now and they will forward this complain next week.

I got the feedback call from Pinnacle Honda where i complained them regarding the issues i had with two of my tyres and they told that they will forward my complain to the respective department. I feel very disappointed as these sort of issues were not expected from a brand like Honda and Michelin. I feel that i have been cheated or there has been something wrong with the quality of tyres. I want all of my five tyres to be checked and get them replaced if there is anything wrong with the quality of tires. My car has recently crossed 500km. I request Senior Honda/Michelin Executives to look into this matter and help me to come out of these issues. The car is under my mother's name, Mrs.Swati Arora.

                            Hello,
I have purchased New Honda City 2011 V AT model in March 2011 and it is fitted with Michelin tyres( front and rear). Within a month of driving the tyre burst while avoiding one of the potholes on road. I somehow repaired it and again within next 4 months it bursted and now beyond repair as per mechanic. When I asked the mechanic about why the new tyre would burst within a month, he was speechless and had a doubt on tyre quality. They adviced me to replace that tyre with new tyre. Even i was surprised to see the tyre condition due to the impact of small pothole. I had used Bridgestone (5yrs without replacing any tyre) earlier with my old vehicle and had travelled to mountains and really the worst road but never experienced such situation.

Now after a year of travelling 11k with my new vehicle, i have seen the problem with another(2nd) Micheline tyre and can see small cut mark on the side of tyre. I am really wondering about the quality of these tyres fitted with my vehicle.
It a real pain for me to replace 2 tyres in a year with out travelling too much (only 12 k till today). I would like michline to take a note of this and help me before i loose the faith in quality of Micheline tyres. Appreciate your quick reply and response.

I have purchased the Micelin car tyres 3 months before from Besant nagar dealer based on the Product info. received at the time of purchase.

When I was driving towards Bangalore on NH 4 the tyre on the right rear side the air from the tyre came out. We parked the car and replaced the tyre. We came to chennai and showed the tyre to the dealer and dealer call up the company Engg. Mr. Satish. After two days I get a inspection report stating that it has happened due to the driving error. The tyre has bulged out. Engg. said that they will be sending the report to R&D for further inscepction. Finally called up today and said there is no problem with the tyre.

When we had a heated discussion Mr. Satish said if you say you want to go to the Comsumer court you can go we do not care. This clearly show the how much Company cares about the Customer.

Keeping the faith in the Company I purchased one more new tyre thinking Company will do justice.

From the report and the Engg. reaction it clearly states that is already desided that any complaint blame it of Customer and get ride of the Compalint. This will have a huge impact on the company what the Customer thinks about the Company.

Can I request the management to look into the issue and takecare of its Customer rather than employing people who do not care about the end Customer.

Hope to get positive response from the Company.

                              Regards

Last year (May' 2010) I bought four Michelin tyres for my new car, but just after 10-11 months a bulge appeared in one of the front tyres. I complained to company for the same and a person came and checked the tyre. There was not any cut on either side of the tyre (inner wall or outer wall). But he reported that it happened due to bad roads and he told me that company can refund 25% of the tyre. Then I reported the same on Michelin's website then after 3-4 days he called me and told me that as I had complaint so now I could not get the refund although company was ready to refund 50%.

I could not understand his un-professional behavior. I searched whole Delhi for the same tyre (Pilot Sports 3 195/50 R15) but I could not find the same tyre in the city.

                                  Address: South Delhi, Delhi

I bought a Honda City in Nov 2010 from Classic Honda Faridabad (Delhi NCR, India). During suspected puncture on one of the Michelin tyres in January 2011, I observed a 1 inches bulge/bubble on the inner side wall. The car just drove 2100 KM and less than three months then.
I complained to Michelin Delhi through the dealer and Michelin representative inspected the tyre on 11th Feb 2011. He summarily wrote that the fault is due to "hitting potholes". (Inspection report no. 103883 dated 11.02.2011) This is the most silly excuse I ever heard as I have myself drove the car in Delhi and always at low speeds of 40-50 km/hr. My car milage of 14.9 KM/hr indicates this.
It is most unfortunate that Michelin wants to excuse itself from a manufacturing defect in its car blaming instead the customer. The attitude of Classic Honda also remained pathetic to say the least.
Nonetheless, I will surely take the matter to its logical conclusion (even if it means fighting my case in consumer courts) where Michelin will be brough to justice.

Defective Tyres : No proper response

Below are brief points based on a timeline of events.
I had purchased 2 brand new Michelin ‘tubeless’ Tires, which I had been using on my Toyota Innova since then. (Chennai)
                                  The 2 new tires had been used for less than a year (& approximately 10000 km), when scaling of the tire edges had been noticed on both the tires, I had immediately taken it to the tire dealer, who then informed the Michelin Advisor about the defect. The Michelin Advisor, after taking a look at the tires, informed me that;

                                  • It is normal for the Michelin Tires to show such scaling due the Indian road conditions and the composition it is made of.
                                  • Scaling might happen in Toyota Innova cars since the front of the car is very heavy.
                                  • The Michelin Advisor also advised that the scaling is not at all a matter of concern and he asked me to continue to use & observe the tires for a period of 2 more months.

January 2012 – I had a flat tire and took the tire to the same dealer (from whom I had purchased the tires) for repair. On close observation it had been noticed that it is punctured in 3 or 4 places where the scaling had been earlier observed. Also, since I could get repeated punctures in all places where scaling had been observed which runs all around the tire, as advised by the dealer, I had to put a tube inside the ‘tubeless’ Michelin tyre to keep it running.

                                  MY COMMENTS

I am currently being forced to use new Michelin ‘tubeless’ tyres by putting tube since I had no other choice to keep the tire running. This makes the Michelin Tires only at par with any other locally available cheap tires that runs on tubes. Had I known earlier, as advised by the Michelin Advisor that it is normal for such scaling to happen to Michelin tires on Indian road conditions on Toyota Innova cars, I would have kept my options open while deciding which tires to purchase for my car and also be vociferous on my recommendations to my friends.
Sorry to state that, I am grossly displeased with Michelins attitude towards a customer such as myself for providing me with a defective product followed up by immature responses given to me by the Michelin Advisor when the defect had been raised up.

                                  Highlights:
I have used these tires only on Normal Indian City roads and had never used them off-road or on un-tarred roads.
The dealer too found it strange and hence requested Michelin Advisor to come and have a look at it.
The Michelin Advisor also stated that this happens very rarely and he s just seen one case like this before.
Thinking of the above, do I consider these as defective tyres or that I made a wrong choice by choosing this brand for my car on Indian roads?

                                    Dear Sir

We have bought 4 nos of Michelin make tyres for our Skoda Octavia vehicle from Sri Vari Aligners, Peelamedu, Coimbatore. After fitting the tyres, the car was behaving very badly, giving out noise, become very rough. After 500 kms usage, the car is taken to another tyre shop, and it is surprised us that the tyres are already 6 yrs old ( manufactured in 2004).We came to know later, this dealer is selling all these types of Aged tyres ( old tyres).

Dear friends, please make sure whenever you are puchasing , check the manufacturing code carefully.
