On 11th january 2018 at around 9:15 pm, two unknown persons entered iit bombay staff chs (Behind s m shetty school) by auto rikshaw without the security noticing them and were in the society for 30 minutes. Their purpose was to break windshield of a car owned by a senior citizen dr. S. G. Mehendale (A retired senior scientific officer from iit bombay). One of the person broke the windshield of his maruti estilo car parked in open parking behind shivneri building while other person was keeping a watch on the residents who were taking a walk at that time. They finished this act without anyone noticing them and left the society walking outside the exit gate. The whole act and this dreadful incident has been captured on society cameras and the incident has been reported to the police by dr. Mehendale for further investigation. It looks like someone with in the society had hired these two persons to damage the car. This also points a finger on the security system managed by the society and such incidents can happen in future if necessary precautions are not taken to ensured safety of senior citizens and residents of the society. We also came to know that dr. Mehendale's car had a stilt parking (With a society sticker) and it used to be parked in their 203 stilt parking space in gagangad building since 2009 and their stilt parking has been encroached by some other member having a flat in pratapgad. However, he has been deprived of his stilt parking and was given a open parking behind shivneri by the society committee where the above incident took place. Dr. Mehendale is a senior citizen and expects a peaceful life at the age of 77 years with his wife, but it is unfortunate that he has been going through the harassment experienced in the society for last few months. Hope the culprits are caught and he gets justice and his right of stilt parking being founder member and is able to live a peaceful life in near future.
