[Resolved] National Highways Authority Of India [NHAI] — Harassment of toll employee and Deduction of double toll amount
We are going to our native place with family along with 6 month baby by a car having Registration No.MH43BU6121. We reached Patas Toll Plaza around 12. p.m. on[protected]. while paying toll we have shown them our ID’s, but they informed that it will not allowed. Then we asked them to scan the fashtag and remit the requisite amount for passing the toll. After scanning, they informed that the fashtag account was not having enough balance, they asked us to recharge or pay double toll (they insisted to pay double toll). but we have chosen the recharge the fashtag option. therefore we have taken the vehicle back and recharge the fashtag. Once recharge is done, when we asked for scan they informed that it will take 20 min to validate. Therefore again we take the vehicle back side and wait for further 20 min.
After completion of 25 min, we move forward the vehicle in the same lane for scanning, and at that they informed us that your fashtag not recharge, We informed them we have done the recharge; even we have shown them the statement of the fashtag. Then they told us that your fashtag was become invalid due to some invalid chassis no. updated against your regn no. and today the issue cannot be resolved. It will take two days time. This should be not happened in the regular ways. We seek acknowledgement for invalidity of fashtag. They denied to provide the same. Again they insisted us to pay double toll. We again and again asking them for alternative options, but the behavior and intention are looking vicious. We asked for nearby fashtag counter, they told it is 1 km from the toll plaza and nearby. But you have to pay toll first thereafter you can go. Then at that time we and toll plaza people have some arguments. They not allowing us to get any option. We are travelling with small baby and the baby keep crying throughout this scenario. The man with heavy body and voice directly come to our window and keep shouting on us loudly. Being women we got scared. Many toll plaza people gathered and keep arguing with us. One of the guy came and asked whose vehicle is this. We told them it is none of your business. The look like we stole vehicle, which is wrong.The lady who is seating at the counter was viciously smiling by looking at us. There was no humanity. Even we asked whether we can go and just check about the fashtag invalidity. We asked their name, but they are not telling. Asked for Toll Supervisor/ manager, but he didn’t come. They didn’t allow us. They indulge that if we stand there, they will imposed penalty on us. Many times without scanning, they kept fighting with us. They was least supportive. Even we told if you could informed us at first time about invalidity we will not waste time for all above things. Don’t know for some reason they was not in the favours that we will go in simple way. Their intention was clearly shows that they want to harass us. With no other option, we concluded to pay double toll. This is actual harassment. Photo of man and receipt is attached herewith.
Thereafter we cross check about fashtag recharge and its validity, it was up to date. While returning back on 30 march, 2021 our fashtag was smoothly working without any hassle. The SMS received was attached herewith. Therefore it is clear that the Patas Toll people want to harass us. Their should be strict action against these people. If there is no resolution, will take legal recourse against them.
