National Highways Authority Of India [NHAI] — illegal rules followed in collecting inr currency in toll plaza
Hello, Private parties who handle the toll plaza, have made a illegal rule to not accept any currency, which was marked or scribbled in it. We travelled from trichy to chennai on nh-45. When we crossed samayapuram toll plaza in tiruchi, we gave a 500 rupee note for the toll ticket, we were advised that hdfc and karur-vhysa banks have advised the employees of this toll plaza not to accept any notes which are scribbled or written over. My father is a retired indian overseas bank employee, who got shocked to hear it. Rbi never gave a mandate to any banks that they should not collect any currency notes which were scribbled or written over it. If its a policy, then why this was not written on a notice board on the toll gate. To make matter worse, when we called the toll plaza manager mr. Henry william, he verbally abused us, stating to take the note back to the bank which issued it in first place and get it changed and he insisted this is a rule mandated by the bank. The very next toll plaza, accepted the note without any issues and hiccups. How does rules on one toll plaza not followed in other toll gates. When was this mandated by the rbi or nhai to follow this rule only in samayapuram toll gate. Who gave the authority for this toll plaza to make a rule by themselves. When people who have the knowledge of the currency notes and who has worked in a national bank for a long time is forced to accept this illegal rule, can't imagine how they will treat people who has no knowledge about indian currencies. Samayapuram toll plaza acts like mafia gang, who think they are above the law and no one can challenge them on following their illegal rules. Was this information helpful?
