P.c Chandra Jewellers — Cheating by P.C Chandra Jewellers, durgapur in exchange of gold

Address:713213

Date of incident: 21/3/2017: I have exchanged my old gold ornament wt 6.49 gm with P.C. Chandra jewellers, benachity, durgapur. It was a gold "Half cover face noa" brought from SENCO (we had the original bill). But the staff refused to accept that it was HALLMARK and told that they need to melt the ornament to check purity. We agreed to that. After melting the weight was 6.41 gm. The purity was then checked and found to be 22.03 kt. Now while doing valuation of the gold, P.C CHANDRA JEWELLERS made a deduction of 12%weight(.77gm), and told that it was a standard procedure. Thus the net weight was considered to be only 5.640 gm. But no such procedure was mentioned to us before. This caused a loss of value worth .77 gm of gold, which on that day was worth Rs. 2176/-. Had they mentioned this deduction before, we would not have exchanged the gold. This is complete cheating and unprofessional behavior on their part. They purposely didnot mention the procedure before melting, which caused us the loss. Later they agreed to their mistake, and gave us a prestige pressure cooker as gift worth Rs 1300/-. But this is not enough. They should give me the equivalent money lost. - [removed]

I am facing the same problem. They are telling about a standard procedure of deducting 10.5% of net weight of 24 carat gold coin purchased from them ie from m/s p c chandra & jewellers, ultadanga branch when i went there for selling my gold coins.
What is the remedy ?
please suggest.
