Readers Digest — Free gifts postcard

I received a postcard that states I have 3 free gifts waiting at this web address and I find it to be without merit and in no uncertain words after 50 or so years with RD I am truly depressed and insulted. I no longer want anything to do with Readers Digest. And I will not!!!!!!!!!....

I also went to website for 3 free gifts and only got sites to renew I usually renew when my co workers children are selling magazine subscriptions but not this year. What is wrong with this picture i have subscribed for years and now this!!!

Reader's Digest — no free gifts

I received card with email address to get three free gifts. Nothing came up except this complaint line.c13

What's with the postcards telling me 3 free gifts are waiting for me, claim them today at: www.readersdigest.com/3free? Nothing!!! You are committing fraud.

My parents were looking forward to the thought of free gifts. This is very misleading. They are senior citizens and have subscribed for years only to be given a postcard and no free gifts. Very disappointing..I would appreciate an explanation.

I too have such problem, but more intense. I have paid Rs 449/- through my SBI credit card for one year subscribtion, which was reflected in my card statement, showing that it went to Readers Digest on 12/07/2010, but I have not yet recieved a single copy of RD though I have paid the bill before due date itself.

Readers Digest — complaint about sweepstakes

sweepstakes for Rs.22, 00, 000/= by Reader's Digest has been conducted for a year now. They keep sending mailers advising readers that they are just very near for winning Rs.22 lacs. with each response they send two envelopes for replies and with each of these mails, they ask you to purchase a product from them. If you agree to buy the product, one must use the envelope marked YES, for which postage is paid by addressee. if you choose not to buy their product, you must use the NO envelope, for which postage is to be paid by sender not the addressee. This is ridiculous and irritating. They are making fool as they changed the dates to year 2010. Every time they send a list of books to be purchased and minimum cost of a book is Rs 1000. They also claim that to win sweepstakes, no purchase is necessary but they send such letters almost every week and ask to purchase.

This sweepstakes is a cleverly concealed fraud aimed at marketing their other products.

Their sweepstakes procedure should be validated by a proper authority before they are permitted to carry on the current sweepstakes.

Also many times i have launced complaint with Readers digest customer care.but no satisfcatory answer. Moreover some executive told me that Gifts were already dispatched thru DTDC courier. and also given me AWB no. When i asked local DTDC courier they said they have not receieved any courier.

In fact, they responded well and were very polite. Initially my name also had wrong prefix and here also they quickly responded and amended it with correct one at the earliest. You need to communicate correctly to the right person.

Hello this is shanmugha vadivu from Kakinada.
Actually I applied for Readers digest yearly subscription through online.
After some days they send me some books which are not at all worth able as gift.
After receiving that books i trust themselves and send money 472.00 by Vpp.
But after wards till now i did'nt receive any readers digest magazine.
I send more than three mails with my subscription number itself.
But yet now no reply from themselves.
I bought 20 rupees books for 472. Rs.

I bought the above mentioned book online through by HDFC credit card on 30/6/2011. My credit card statement shows payment of Rs.499 already made to Reader's DIgest but i have still not received the book.

The above instructions don't work. How do you click on "file" and then open with your browser???? This must be a scam website. If Reader's Digest website can't be accessed the normal way why they didn't make sure we could access it? I guess they don't want anyone to win.

i think the site is misleading. be carefull not accidently subscribe because in my reasoning there is a difference between asking if your are interested in subscribing and the suscription itself. although i disagree with that back door tricky approach readers digest were forthcoming to unsuscribe me at my request . i do conceed that the magazine is excellent but do refuse to sign in with backdoor policy approach. I have been the consumer of Readers' Digest India since 50 years. For the last 3/4 years I have been receiving thousands of letters / correspondences regarding declaration of Reader's Digest Sweepstakes Champion worth Rs.26 lacs along with some other prizes such as Chairman's Prompt prize and early reply prize etc. etc. subject to condition for purchase of some articles through VPP though it is told that it is not mandatory. But if not purchase you cannot be eligible to participate. However, I have been purchasing music CD, leather Bags hundreds of books and other articles. I have been declared by the Chairman Sweepstakes, Reader's Digest to be the winner of sweepstakes champion which is held every year. Not only that I have been declared as so-called Ambassador for the company. It is surprising that in most of the letters I have been declared as winner of 26 lacs but in some of the letters I have been declared as chance to win some other prizes. I had duly sent the required documents to the address given above but in spite of fulfilling the all requisites I am asked to purchase some other articles which of no use of mine. It is presumed that the practice which are introduced by the Reader's Digest is nothing but furse and to sell their articles. This is my complaint to unfold the true.

The Free giftrewards seems to be a big big Hoax. My telephone complaint to "Readers Digest" got no response. I have been a member for about 30 years, and am yet to win anything from them. Promisses, promisses, all empty words. It is time to make an investigation into their prize giving.

very true, all they do is lure u with some high rewards and in the process trick u with their bargains n deals and at times, just dump their stuff thru courier, even when returned to the courier guy, it comes back and then they say that u have such and such.. outstanding amt, i mean i ended up paying on two occassions for things i didnt want, and now they have dumped something in my absence . Dunno, what they r upto...just mindless, aggressive money making marketing strategies...I have replied to them thru their email id, but it says delivery notfication failure... To add to it, they have the audacity to tell us that their finance legal dept will follow with us for nonpayment...
