Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding significant differences in my blood test results obtained from two separate laboratories within approximately 36 hours. These discrepancies relate to my Lipid Profile, Apolipoprotein and Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] results.
The details of both tests are provided below for your investigation.
1. First Blood Test – Redcliffe Labs
Laboratory: Redcliffe Labs
Date of sample collection: 20 October 2026
Collection time: 8:25 AM
Report received: 20 October 2026, evening.
Results observed:
Lipid Profile: Reported within the normal range.
Apolipoprotein: Indicated a risk level.
Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]: Reported above 90.
2. Second Blood Test – Subsequent Cardiac Health Check-up
Date of sample collection: 21 October 2026
Collection time: 8:11 PM
Report received: 22 October 2026, 5:10 PM.
Consulting Cardiologist: Dr. Praveen Kumar, Bengaluru.
Results observed:
Lipid Profile: Significant variations compared with the Redcliffe report.
Apolipoprotein: Reported within the normal range.
Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]: Reported within the reference limit.
3. Serious Concerns Regarding Laboratory Result Accuracy
I am extremely concerned about the significant differences between these two reports, particularly the Lipoprotein(a), Apolipoprotein and Lipid Profile results.
Both tests were conducted within approximately 36 hours. However, the findings are substantially different.
In particular, the first Redcliffe Labs report indicated elevated Lipoprotein(a) above 90 and an Apolipoprotein-related risk, whereas the subsequent report showed Lipoprotein(a) within the reference limit and Apolipoprotein within normal limits.
These conflicting findings have created serious confusion regarding my actual cardiovascular risk.
4. Impact on Medical Consultation and Treatment
I have been undergoing regular cardiac health check-ups at Samiksha Heart Centre, Bengaluru.
Based on the initial blood test findings, my regular consulting doctor reviewed the report and changed my cholesterol medication.
However, the subsequent blood test results showed different findings, raising questions about the accuracy and consistency of the initial report and the medical decisions influenced by it.
Due to these conflicting results, I have experienced considerable mental and emotional stress. I am continuously worried about my actual Lipoprotein(a), Apolipoprotein and cholesterol levels and their implications for my heart health.
As a patient, I depend on laboratory reports to make important medical decisions in consultation with my cardiologist. Therefore, I expect accurate, reliable and scientifically validated test results.
5. Clarifications and Actions Requested from Redcliffe Labs
I request Redcliffe Labs management and the medical quality-control department to:
Conduct a detailed investigation into the differences between the Redcliffe Labs report dated 20 October 2026 and the subsequent laboratory report dated 22 October 2026.
Verify the accuracy of the Lipid Profile, Apolipoprotein and Lipoprotein(a) results.
Provide complete details of the testing methodology, analytical techniques, equipment and reference ranges used for each parameter.
Clarify whether differences in testing methodology, calibration, laboratory equipment or analytical procedures could explain these variations.
Specifically investigate the significant difference in Lipoprotein(a) results, particularly the reported value above 90 in the Redcliffe report compared with the subsequent result within the reference limit.
Verify the sample identification, sample handling, laboratory quality-control records and analytical validation.
Clarify whether the Apolipoprotein test refers to ApoA1 or ApoB and explain the difference in the reported risk status.
Provide the exact numerical values, measurement units (mg/dL or nmol/L, as applicable) and reference ranges for all disputed parameters.
Arrange a repeat Lipoprotein(a), Apolipoprotein and Lipid Profile test at no additional cost, if required, to independently verify the accuracy of the results.
Provide a written explanation from your senior laboratory medical team regarding these discrepancies and the corrective actions taken.
6. Final Request for Resolution
This is not merely a difference in routine blood test values. These reports have influenced my cardiac consultation and cholesterol medication decisions.
I have experienced unnecessary mental and emotional distress because of the conflicting findings and uncertainty regarding my actual cardiovascular risk.
I request Redcliffe Labs to take this complaint seriously, conduct a transparent investigation and provide a detailed written response supported by technical and laboratory quality-control findings.
I am enclosing both laboratory reports and the relevant medical prescription for your reference.
I expect a proper explanation and resolution at the earliest.
Regards,
M. Siva Prakash
