[Resolved]  Safexpress — Items stolen during shipment (Complaint Number COM[protected])

I registered the complaint to Safexpress via mail on Feb 22, 2021 but haven't received any reply yet.

Subject: Items stolen/missing from boxes during shipment

Waybill No.:[protected]Indore to Aurangabad BR)

I, Harshit Kant Ujjawal (receiver of the shipment and owner of the items/things), requested the pickup of items from the IIM Indore (exact address: SR-09 gate, IIM Indore) campus on Feb 16, 2021. Mr Ram Milan Singh (an employee of Safexpress who always visits the IIM Indore campus for pickups; his contact No.: +91 [protected]) picked the materials, which the sender packed, at around 3 PM on Feb 16, 2021. The materials shipped were packed in 2 boxes (not of safexpress company's box), each of height around 3 feet. Box no. 2 (according to the waybill) was tapped by Safexpress tape and wrapped in the plastic cover, and again taped by the safexpress. However, box no. 1 was not taped by the safexpress (generally against the general convention). It does not have anything related to safexpress expect the waybill no. sticker. You can see the difference in packing by safepress between the two boxes in the image attached.

Before the shipment, I had the list of items shipped. And when I received the shipment on Feb 20, 2021, at around 7 PM, I found out that few things were missing. I cross-checked all the items with the list and found out the items missing, which have been listed below:

Items stolen/missing:

Two white coloured shirts (one formal and one casual worth around Rs 3500)
One white coloured sweater (worth Rs 3000)
Red coloured tie (worth Rs 600-700)
One trouser and a couple of t-shirts (worth Rs 4000)
A packing tape (worth Rs 50)
One Basketball (worth Rs 750-900)
Total Items worth around Rs 12000
Note: Items listed as point 1 to 4 were kept in blue coloured trolley bag kept inside box no.1, and point 5 & 6 just directly inside the box no. 1. Bills of all these items are not present.

Box no. 1, which has the problem, contained a trolley bag (of blue colour), a few basketballs and three small boxes, a badminton racquet and packing tape. Since the box was packed by myself when I was on the campus, so while packing, I put one extra packing tape inside the box no. 1.

Possible scenario: While shipment/transit, whoever has done this might have untaped box no. 1 (which was not packed by safexpress tape), brought out all the items (since trolley bag was kept the very below) opened the trolley bag, which was not locked (also I had trust on safexpress and its company's vision which the company failed to express so far) containing 50+ clothes including of every size, and the person picked few brand new clothes.

After stealing, the person took the packing tape and again sealed box no. 1 after putting the trolley bag, small packages and the rest of the basketballs inside to appear normal, and retaped with my own packing tape, which had been kept inside - that's why I didn't find the tape on receiving the shipment. Even box no. 1 seems to retaped, and it does not appear as I had packed.

Note: I have explained the possible scenario to investigate the case easily and trace the wrong-doers. I hope Safexpress has the cameras installed at every place and can cross this incident easily.

This whole incident is very unprofessional on your part, and I still can't believe that Safexpress being such a prestigious company, is doing such sort o[censored]nethical things. The shipment company has no right to open the box and then the bag (which was kept inside) and then check items and steal.

This has been so disturbing to hear, and I request you to take strict actions against the wrong-doers and also expect compensation for the same. I have expressed the monetary value of all the items stolen above. I can't believe that I paid Rs 4460 for such a cheap service of Safexpress. Hopefully, you will reply soon.
