I was travelling from kolkata to pune on the 20th august 2017 by spice jet flight sg 516. The duration of the flight including the stopover in bangalore is about 5 hours. While boarding i requested the lady at the counter to give me an isle seat as i am 65 years old and about 5 ft 10 inches tall. She offered me some paid seats for rs 1000 and rs 600. I said i was not interested in buying seats as i had already spent rs 7000 approximately on my ticket. Without my knowledge she allowed me the seat 27d which you can see is printed on my boarding pass attached.
To my surprise, the seat 27d was a corner seat just ahead of the emergency exit.
The seat had no reclining mechanism and one could get in with a lot of difficulty,
I would like to complaint as to why a non reclining seat is offered to passengers who have paid an equal amount of money as fare as persons who get isle or window reclining seats.
The air hostess who came to brief me about the safety measures as this seat was close to the emergency exit, spoke in english so fast that probably she did not know what she was uttering. She looked stylish but i think she was hardly educated and quite stupid the way she was talking.
The 5 hour journey was completed with a lot of strain in my back and i plan to report this matter to the aviation ministry after receiving your reply, unless you refund my fare charges and apologise for this conduct and giving such seats to passengers causing huge discomfort during a 5 hour flight.
