My name is Urvish Patel. I bought a Mediclaim on 6th June, 2015. My Customer ID in Max Bupa Health insurance is [protected]. I continued renew it till June, 2019, So My and my family member’s health was completely insured since June, 2020. In this policy Maternity benefit was included. I got a call from Mr. Siddharth, Employee of Star health insurance from Mobile number [protected] on my mobile number [protected]. This call received on 25th May, 2020 at 11:49AM. He offered me to portable my health policy from Max Bupa health Insurance to Star health insurance and also offered me that If you are more than three year old customer of Max Bupa than you will also be more than three year old customer of Star Health. I talked to him for 5 minutes 10 seconds. I told him about the pregnancy of my wife. My words were “ My wife is pregnant and fourth month is running. “ I told him clearly I want this policy for Maternity benefits and my new born baby which would be also include in the policy. In the call when I was telling him about my wife’s pregnancy, he didn’t speak any word that this year your maternity benefits were not included and all. When I called him on 2nd Nov, 2020 for asking the procedure for claim but didn’t get any satisfactory answer So I called Star Health customer care number [protected] on the same day at 01:18 PM. From Customer care I got the news that Maternity benefits would not include in my plan So I called Mr. Siddharth and he told me to check and revert back. I was manipulated by company. After this I mailed Company and grievience department of company and also converse with Mr. Binoy Tiwari ( Whose name is on my policy). But I didn’t get any solution from Grievance. After this I complained all the things to IRDA. All the details of IRDA Complaint number and Grievance is as below. All the time Company grievance department mailed me that Maternity benefit is not included in policy till 2 years but they were failed to answer me my 2 questions and repeat recorded tape. I want answer below 2 questions. 1. Why shouldn’t company employee denied me to portable my policy from Max Bupa to Star health when I informed him that my wife was pregnant and 4th month was running? 2. Company mailed me that if you are more than 3 year old customer of Max Bupa than after portable you in Star Health you would be 3 year old customer of Star health also. If Star health provides maternity benefits to its 3 year old customer then why should it deny me to give maternity benefits? I sent these all the things to Ombudsman of Insurance. They replied me that this is not include in the rulebook of them. Means I think that every insurance company can make fool customer and Ombudsman take their rule book.
