On september 10th i went for applying new sbi atm card @ kumbakonam bazaar sbi and filled the application. My sbi pass book had my old address, chennai even though it was transferred to kumb bazaar from palavakkam chennai. Hence i requested shri. Murugavel accountant @ counter 2 to kindly send the new atm card to kumbakonam address.
He asked proof for the new address and i gave him the original driving license along with xerox. But he was persistent to bring adhaar card original along with xerox only then the new address will be changed and new atm will be sent to the address. According to rbi, kyc norms driving license is enough for address proof. However i again went to my home & took original aadhar+ xerox & submitted for new atm. He assured that atm will be sent to your new address within 15 days.
On 22.10.18 i went to bank around 5.30 pm and enquired about the status since atm was not received till date. Sri. Murugavel asked to get out from the office immediately since only 4 pm the enquiries can be made. I didn't speak a single work i left immediately.
On 24.10.18, i approached the bank around 11.00 am and asked the status of my atm from counter 3, a lady staff told atm was despatched gave me the speed no and asked to enquire the post office. I tracked the article immediately and was shocked to know that the atm card was dispatched to old chennai address.
Now i went to shri. Murugavel counter-2 and informed him that my savings account address remains unchanged & also my atm was dispatched to old address. He rudely answered ''that's it.. Cant do anything you again bring original adhaar & xerox". I asked him sir i already showed the original & submitted the xerox. He again very rudely shouted at me to leave the place & get out. I again in soft manner asked him is this the way you response to customers? Already its been a month & half and you have ignored your duty and you are so rude to me.
This time shri. Murugavel accountant @ counter-2 thrown away my passbook infront of all customers and shouted in unparliamentary words in tamil" dei, muttapunda avlo dhan ennala panna mudiyum, unnala mudinjatha paarthuko" (Meaning you #, i can do only this, what ever u can do and # off now". Near by counter -3 a lady staff is working aged 25 and many other lady staff were working. Lady customers were standing & sitting behind me. I was very much shocked to see this behaviour from him.
Then i went to the manager and filed a written complaint and had it acknowledged. I was working as post master for government of india and we were facing more number of transactions with no saturdays holidays and not alone savings bank transactions.in no circumstance we have shouted to a customer using parliamentary words. I am very much ashamed & hurt and i think what mistake i have done to get such scolding form unknown person for depositing my own money.
This should never ever happen to any customer since the salary they receive is only because of customers. Also he has no right to scold in foul language and throw the passbook away. Hence harsh disciplinary action may please be taken against him for smooth public service of sbi. Cctv camera was installed in that branch which can be referred for future reference.
