[Resolved]  Sterling Holidays Resorts — Membership Refund due to false information given

Dear Sir/Madam,

My Sterling Membership ID is VNT1252082 & RCI Membership ID is[protected].

I am writing with deep grievance against two of the employees Mr Pritam Sarkar & Ms Shivani of Sterling Hotel Puri, Odisha, India.

On 10 Sep 23, during our stay at Sterling Puri, we met these two employees. They made us false promises saying that we need to pay only ₹3, 12, 000 one time and the membership will be valid for 10 years. They never mentioned about the annual maintenance charges. They also mentioned in our joining form that we will get one week complimentary stay with RCI membership at any place outside India except Dubai, Singapore & Maldives. They also told that we will have a dedicated Relationship Manager, Ms Shivani who will handle all our bookings. Even they said that they have tie up with Thomas Cook who will take care of our flight bookings also.

When I got verification call from Sterling, they told me about annual maintenance charges. I informed them that I am not aware of any such charges. Again I called Mr Pritam Sarkar and Ms Shivani and they said that they will get the charges waived off by referral program, that’s why they didn’t inform us while filling the joining form.

On 21 Dec 23 we informed Ms Shivani that we want to go to Malaysia and Thailand from 26 Jan 24 to 01 Feb 24 and we want to avail the complementary stay. She confirmed that she will check and let us know. Today when we called her to check the status of the bookings, she said that she was busy and couldn’t do our booking. Then I called Mr Pritam Sarkar, who said that I need to do the booking myself by calling RCI customer care. Subsequently when I called RCI customer care, they said that there is no such complementary stay in our account. Also the RCI customer care representative informed that there is no such tie up with Thomas Cook.

Again I called Mr Pritam Sarkar and he said that I need to pay the annual maintenance charges for availing the complementary stay. When I reminded him what he said during giving membership, he said that he thought of getting it waived off by referral program but he hasn’t found any new member till now.

Due to such kind of fraud behaviour for their personal benefits, we have suffered huge loss by paying such a big amount for this membership. And the Relationship Manager is just for name and she doesn’t even bother to inform us about the correct procedure.

We informed Sterling holidays by mail on 23 Dec 23 regarding the issue and to cancel my membership and refund my money as I don’t want to continue with such membership done by fraud promises by fraud people.

On 24 Dec 23, I got a mail stating that they are looking into the matter. Till now no resolution has been provided. Despite the passage of time, I am still awaiting a resolution to the concerns raised in my initial communication. The delay in resolving these matters is causing significant inconvenience and financial implications. Airfares are increasing and hotel availability is becoming a challenge, leading to further frustration.

Please look into the matter and help us resolve the issue to get our membership amount refund.
