During Jul'08, I had been to the E.B office of Chitlappakkam, Chennai -64 to make the payment of the current month's electricity bill. When I went there, the officials said that the Meter Readings were not updated in their Databases. Hence, they asked me to handover the EB Reading Card and the Money (INR 472) so that they can credit into my account as the last date of payment was nearing. I did the same and I approached the EB office ore than thrice to collect my EB Reading Card. But, the person to whom I had handed over the Card and the Money wasn't there all the time. So, collected a fresh Reading Card from them and came back.

3 months later, the person to whom I had handed over the money visited my house and said that there is a due of INR 472. I refused to give him the money as I had already handed over the money some time earlier. This time, when I had been to the EB office for November Bill payment, the same person said that he paid the due of INR 472 on my behalf just keep me off from the Penalty. But, I refused to give him money again.

I have a question to the Tamilnadu Electricity Board. "Have you employed such persons who can make the payment from their pockets when the public (Common Man) has not paide the bill on date?"

u should made a complaint by written and take the xerox of the letter and the problem is not solved with in 10 days u can file a case against them in court
Dear Sir,
It’s really sad for me to making this complaint on our own EB. It’s because of pure Negligence of EB Officials.
For the past 6 months we are facing this problem. We were remitting EB payment in Ullagaram branch. Till last month we remitted the payment in Ullagaram Branch. Whenever we remit the payment at least 2 to 3 times I have to go to both madipakkam and Ullagaram branches to clarify where I have to pay the bill. Madipakkam EB employee was telling that I need renumbering for my service number which has to be provided by Ullagaram Branch. When I enquire in Ullagaram branch they are blaming madipakkam AE. We spoke to both the branch Assistant Engineer’s and they simply blaming each other and I have to go back and forth for the both the branches. At last as consumer we are the victim and facing the problem. Please help me sir. All I want is where I can remit the payment? And what is the renumber for my consumer number?. This month both the branches denied to accept the payment.

    we are residing in PALLIKARANAI CHENNAI-600 100.
    when we approached the EB office at MEDAVAKAM to pay the electricity bill, they are not accepting it. The reason given by them is that the bill is not updated in the computer. To update the bill we had to stand for more than 4 hours in the queue, even then they did not updated the bill. Hence we are unable to pay the bill even today 10-DEC-2008.
    Is it necessary for a consumer to stand in one queue for updating and in another queue for paying the bill?
    This is the working condition of MEDAVAKKAM TNEB.
    KINDLY GIVE US ANY FAVOURABLE SOLUTION...

    my payments are not updated
    sir, I was also paid EB bill through online payment (NET) for only one month, then next I started paying manually to the EB office counter. In this connection I have made complaint to the Chairman, TNEB, in respose they have intimated that a temporarily failure in INTERNET loading during the month of December 2008. Now this month the same is working properly. Online payments are smoothly accepted now but only through AXIS and ICICI banks, not any other bank cards. If some other banks like SBI, IOB banks may connected for online payment for TNEB is highly apprieciated. (My meter no. is[protected]. Overall the TNEB work is appreciatable only.

    Sub: Accessing of Online payment for TNEB – Reg.

    I wish to inform to you for accessing of online payment regarding. Last two payments very easily paid in the online payment or e-payment. This time I was suffering the payment in current payment, but I am using my username & password also same in the as per your registration. And I try to more time in your forgot username entries and getback in my e mail solution for your username & password but till I can’t accessing the online payment entries. And I try with new user signup this also I am facing to failed. Kingly please check or remedies and revert back this issue.

    Is there any option to update meter reading while doing an online payment?? Or is there any date by which all updates will be complete?
    I've got my EB card updated with the reading, but am unable to make a online payment as the current month's meter reading is not updated.. I cant find any option to update the reading for this month as well..

    My EB consumer #s are 231:24 853 & 231:24 852,
    I have been using this online payment facility for Aug'09 and Oct'09... and the EB payment cards are with me.. Hence no update has happened reg. the readings & payment seal in my cards from Aug'09... But I could see a different price in online for Aug'09 & Oct'09... Suddenly for Dec'09, TNEB online payment shows the same payment of Oct'09.. Not sure what could be the reason.. Enquired in TNEB office, they said your house have been locked ... But it is not the case... not sure about real root cause..

    Now my question is
    a) How I could get the readinds updated in my EB payment card ?

    Any help on answering this questions are much appreciated ...

    I'm resident at Rajalakshmi Nagar, Pallikaranai, Chennai-100. I have been paying my Electricity bills at "EB office at Pallikaranai, Chennai".
    They are not executing their duties. No one comes to take our Meter Reading. Every month when we go for paying the bills they ask us to note the meter reading ourself or else collect minimum amount. Even if we note the reading, they are not making proper entries. The next month they blame us and collect Fine for some reasons. They shout at us badly and threaten us. We dont know where to go and complain.

    I tried the online payment facility. But the reading is not updated(Meter Reading is not noted by anyone from EB office). Again we need to pay late payment charges. This is happening continuously for last 6months for all people in that area.

    Kindly take care of the same and give us a solution.

    What is wrong with EB people is beyond me. I have always been paying my EB online without any problem but this time they did not update current EB for JAN-FEB 14 neither is updated in my online account. I have confirmed with the other people living near by they left the whole building without updating the EB status. Pathetic service as TNEB in velachery is always crowded.

    Dear sir, At velachery EB office there are only 2 counters for payment to be done whereas the queue of people goes all the way till the ground floor. When there are 4 counters kept why do we have only 2 working please?

    We people put permission at work and come whereas the waiting in line itself crosses the counter timings !!!

      We are residants of Lambert Nagar, Virugumbakkam, Chennai -92. There is no power supply since 7 PM yeseterday night till now.
      This has affected our daily routines such as now water supply, etc. and the roads are logged fully with water and without light it is very difficult to commute by vehicle and by walk in this area.

      We now the current situation. Please switch ON the power supply for 2-3 hours today, so that, atleast we pump in some water for our use, which is a basic necessity.

      We are residants of AGS Colony, Velachery, Chennai -42. There is no power supply from 27-11-08 till now.
      This has affected our daily routines such as now water supply, etc. and the roads are logged fully with water and without light it is very difficult to commute by vehicle and by walk in this area.

      We have the experience to share with you. We have the 3 phase power supply but we could not use due to phase reversal problem. Today morning 3.30am to till now same problem. We had informed foremen, AE, substation operators and AD -MMDA colony, Aminjikarai. Till we are running the Dg sets-180kva-1no, 500kva-2nos, 380kva-1no. Why they will not rectify we don't know really.

      This problem not only today, the same problem we have faced on 14.08.2009 at 6.10 hrs to 9.30 hrs., 16.08.2009 at 7.30 hrs to 7.50 hrs and 24.08.2009 at 8.10 hrs to 10.10 hrs.

      We made the complaint to 155333 also and we received the complaint no .3071536 also but nothing to happen.

        I am A.Ganesh Kumar residing at 2/10A, 7th Street, Kanniamman nagar, Vanagaram, Chennai-600095. For the past 6 months, the EB meter reading (of some other person meter) is being entered wrongly into the server.
        When I go for payment of the EB bill, the person in the counter claims that the reading in the card and the server is not matching and I need to pay the previous months amount. This issue has been brought to the notice of the EB department in Madhuravoil and the same mistake is happening repeatedly.

        I am from maraimalainagar, I have paid my EB bill through online using AXIS bank netbanking on 01-november-2008. There was problem in e- receipt genearation.I have made payment once again. then the amount(Rs.1822) has been debited twice from my account . Still i didn't get refund of amount 1822
        We are residents of John Vasu Street, Extension, Madhavaram Milk Colony.
        The overhead lines are loose, and the power lines leading to our house are overgrown by plants and intertwined with ceepers and are in a precarious position.The power supply is inconsistent with severe fluctuations and we are forced to switch off the AC, TV and the fridge. We have a lodged a complaint with the AE, Manali region and there is no action as yet.
        Dear Sir, I am from 8/3, panchanathan st, Tindivanam. I was given a EB bill for a meter reading that which our meter has not yet reached the reading entered by the accessor. The reading has been entered in my card at the time of payment of the bill since I am no at my home at the time of accessment. Therefore I kindly request you to guide myself so as to refund the excess payment made by me apart from the actual meter reading ( Note: Still now we our meter haven't reached the reading mentioned by the accessor of your department) Please guide me how? could I get back my money excessly remitted.

          Dear Sir/Madam,
          Sub: - Bad and irresponsible service given to customer.
          I have been living in the above address for the past 1 year and found that not once the electricity department was responsible enough to solve or notice the issue that our apartment was facing.
          There are four meters for each apartment and a common meter for the water pumping motor. As soon as I started living in the apartment I noticed that our meter and the common water pump meter was not working and raised a complaint to change them to new one. I waited for more than 3 months ad still didn’t get any proper response from the EB department. They were passing time by either stating that my complaint is still in process or the meter will be changed next week. But then that week never came. Giving the EB department another chance I wrote another complaint to change the meter and after 2 months they changed the meter and it was only for my individual house and not for the common water pump meter. When I asked about it the EB department started to beat around the bushes by not giving proper reply and instead they were passing it to other person. Added to that the person who comes to take the reading doesn’t care to guide us what to do to resolve this issue instead he says us to pay minimum of Rs.600/= for the common water pump motor. I’m sure that it doesn’t cost that much since only three o[censored]s live in the apartment and we turn ON the motor only twice a day for 1 hour.
          Later they changed the meter for the common water pump. But that meter was also not working and when we tried to explain it to the department and the person who notes the meter reading he says to raise another complaint to change the meter and asks to pay Rs.600/= again.
          This is the mistake repeatedly done from the EB department and they are supposed to rectify it, but I’m paying the cost for their mistakes. I’m really unhappy with the irresponsible act of the people working in the department and not even bothering at least to guide the public if they are in need of any guidance.
          I’m writing this complaint not only it happened to me but also to most of the neighbors in my locality and I’m not afraid to say that the neighbors doesn’t complain this issue because the EB department in out locality doesn’t work efficiently or promptly if any complaints are raised against them.
          Please consider this as not only my complaint but also a humble request to look into this issue that’s happening in our locality.

No actions have been taken yet. Why TNEB so irresponsible? Moreover treatment is also bad when we go to TNEB for raising any complaint. Please take care of this and resolve the issues quickly.

          eb sucks we should join together to raise issue in eb and force government to take action, or else this tendency will never change will become far worst or other thing eb should be privaticed, but if privatices the cost of the unit may go high, every area, area people should joing together and should raiese the issue otherwise nothing will happen, but difficult the thing only few would be intrested in joing together to raise issues rest will say stupid excuses we are citize we have our rights and if are not given our rights we should fight for it, lets raise our vocie against electricity problems
          TODAY’S IS 15 TH NOVEMBER 2009, SINCE 8TH NOVEMBER EXACTLY A WEEK THE ELECTRICITY WAS NOT THERE IN A STEERT CALLED RAJIV GANDHI AVENEUE, WHICH IS IN KOTTUR CHENNAI.. WE WENT AS A ENTIRE STREET TO EB OFFICE IN KOTTUR. THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF MANPOWER. SO YOU GUYS WILL DIG, THEN WE WOULD ABLE TO DO THE NEEDFUL. MY QUESTION IS WHEN EB PEOPLE WANTS TO DIGGING DONE BY PUBLIC MEANS ITS TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE.. ALL THE PEOPLE IS IN STREET WE WENT TO GIVE COMPLAINT EVEN THOUGH NO ACTION.

          i have faced a ridiculus problem from TNEB Tambaram Near Madras Christian College

          sir for month of october i paid Rs 1724 Rs i was satisfied because i have used AC.

          For 40 Days.

          i have sent my brother who is uneducated and the TNEB Collected Same Amount

          Rs 1724/- but i have given only rs 1100 and rest of money he manged from his own funds because we have not used AC not even

          a single day.

          They simply collected amount from my Brother Same Amount and informed him if

          you are not using A/C you have to inform us earlier.

          What a ridiculuos approach whether this is needed that i have to inform everything

          what iam using ??? then why they have meter reading ??? its all depends on

          consumption.

          They not even furnished the meter reading in EB Card just a single Line .Plz kindly take some actions.

          i have all the evidences and iam not going hand over card to them.

          we are living in kodambakkam area.we are trying to apply for 3phase connection from single phase.All persons are money minded.

          when we accepted to pay bribary they responded good.but when we refuse to pay bribary, their response was very bad.very ridiculous service.

          Careless responses.my mother went around 3times.Each time they are telling colorful reasons.

          when we accepted to pay bribary 5000rs they do'nt want any supportive or extra documents itseems.but when we said we can pay 3500rs .they nodded head for bribary.when we refused to pay bribary.they are not even getting our bills in hand.very very bad..when we will get this done ..god only knows.We are suffering very badly with single phase connection.getting often powercuts.
          Dear.Sir i bring this complaint to you taking necessary action against Mr.Sekhar for his misbehaviour and corruption. working in Sembium Perambur Chennai 600011 On 4th afternoon 2pm power supply went off gave complaint at 5pm evening tneb van came inspected and said its cable fault saying next day morning can be done.Next Day morning about 6staffs led by Mr.Sekhar well known for corruption, arrogancy working in the same place for more than 15yrs without finding the fault said nothing can be done thers no staff available to dig the road buy 50meters cable and our labour charges and left.For your kind information last year the same sekhar said the same thing made me to buy the new cable estimated R5000/- which is lying in the ground Tll now the fault not rectifyed and i am sufering without power causing mental agony and frustration Neccessary action against Mr.sekhar and to restore the power.Dr.T.Subramaniam, 14, G.N.st.Agaram Chennai 600 082
          Yes I agree. Civil Supplies department is doing great job for consumer complaints. Likewise TNEB should also make such online arrangements to make sure they receive all consumer complaints in a proper way and getting escalated to higher official if the complaints are not resolved.

          We are living in Naickkan palyam Village, pollachi(T.K). In this village also called as Karuppam palayam. My home opposite have one street light . In that street light is standing around for 200 homes. It is very old and damaged. It will fall for any second to the ground .If its fall, It will definitely make any damages and most of the peoples are die . The people are compliant to the village president Illavathi Madam.             The meter provided at our rented-residence, is not working for the past 9 months.I have given written complaints 9 months ago.

            And every 2 months, a TNEB lady writes down the average meter reading.

            Last month end 28th Aug08' I was very much fed up and went to the TNEB office in Ambattur. Only then I came to know about a complaint notebook, and I made a entry. And I was informed a telephone no. and contact person for the complaint..also stating that I will get the issue solved within a day & ask me to call them if nobody showed up.

            It was 4 pm, next day and still no one...so I made a call and asked for the person(as stated above)..

            There was a harsh response...

            You made the complaint yesterday only, wait for some more time...


            And today is 15th sep, still no response..

            What should I do...now.

              I'm residing on Vandikaaran street, Maduvankarai, Guindy. Here power is shutdown for 3 hours, i.e. from 10 to 12 in the morning and 6-7 in the evening, whereas in the Alwarpet area (near park sheraton hotel), power is not shutdown even for 1 hour. Why this disparity? When they shut down for 3 hours in Alandur Municipality, why not they do it everywhere equally. When I called the TNEB offices, I was informed that they get pressure from the higher authorities and also from Ministry level. When I also pay tax why my children should suffer during study hours i.e. 6-7. I put a request to so many people. No response. I request the concerned authorities to look into it and at least change the timings of power shutdown, so that children's study doesn't get disturbed.

                Hi,
                I am the resident of 3, Ashtabujam first lane, choolai, chennai -112. For our house, the EB connection is given from opposite house by the wire given by us. We asked for permanent solution since this problem is related to cable fault laid by TNEB for the last 6 months. Today they came and asked us Rs.3000/- for changing the cable and for labour work. They didn't give bill for this also. Please suggest me whom to send my complaint. Do we have to pay for this repair or EB should take care?

                My resident is in chidamabarm. manalur sc no. 588.Since last two months no rep. from TNEB for calculate the bill charges came and we informed many times to the office but no response.how we can make the payment to know?Sometimes they ask to pay the same amt of previous month and if pay extra for this month will they recover for next month?.

                iam sudhakar from kuruvikkarambai I have a complaint against people misusing the power that the government giving free electric power for poor people (SINGLE LIGHT SYSTERM) .the government says they can eligible for using a single light only. but many people surround my village specially karambakkadu they are using more then a light, television, iron box, HI FI sound system and many equipments. Consuming more than 300 kilowatt per month per one connection. They never switch off the lights because they don't want to pay anything.
                So please take necessary action.

                My Eb card no is[protected] last before year 2008 we had a problem still not rectified the problem started like we change the line to Domestic to commercial for that they ask Rs.1500 they told tariff changed we also paid, next meter was not working so we complaint once again he collected 9500Rs so total amount rs.11000 he said at present no stock of meter you should wait so you should pay average amount as 6060 month left year left they telling still meter no stock then i came to know that i what i paid amount of rs 1500+ 9500 was billed as 40rs he taken the money so i contact eb office regarding this they told he was transfer d so we need to pay once again for tariff change and other charges, what is this where i want to complaint i cant understand . please do something for this .. or i need a solution for this

                Hi I am resident of Anna nagar...the EB officials asked us to change our house connection from residential to commercial as we are running a paying guest accommodation in one of the floor...we have submitted the application and the deposit for the same, The officials did not attend to the application for the past 1 year, though we were checking with the status with them every now and then...they did not give us an confirmation for the receipt of the application as well...one fine day they came for inspection and charged us Rs. 50, 000/- for not changing the line to commercial. The subordinates are confirming that they had given it to superior incharge, while that person did not agree...and acted as if she has not seen such an application and charged us Rs. 50, 000/- fine...it was really disappointing as it was a penalty for the government officials mismanagement of not having proper procedures in place. We couldn’t do anything as we do not have the receipt for submitting the application form...

                hello sir, sorry to say this we are living in india. this is the procedure in our government office. what we can do as a normal man, so if you are ready just follow these kind of rules. it is my experience too.
                I am Rajesh Kumar residing at Madipakkam, Ram Nagar South, Chartered Accountant by profession.There was more consumption in the past where my slab gone to more than 500 units. We had take lot measures to keep the consumption below 500 units for two months (60 days) and achieved the same. (8units per day, 480 units). The issue now is I am charged with > 500 units slab due to delay in reading. My last reading date was 25th July 2012 and current reading date was 27th Sep 2012 which is 64 days. The reading unit on 27th Sep 2012 is 510 units. Who will bare the additional cost due to delay in reading. I got penalised for approx Rs.550/- for keeping the units below 500 for 60 days. I went to the Madipakkam EB office today 12th Oct'12 and asked the respective authority, the were laughing that Sir only 10 units and 2 days (but actualy 4 days, ie they musthave taken reading on 24th Sep'12), and said nothing can be done, we will take before of after 5 days of the reading date and not accepted my complaint form. I was just running here and there. Rs.500/- which I can bare, but we can not accept this without any valid reason. It is shame that I am unable to get any feedback from the department as a consumer. I would like to know the process of taking reading since the rates are based on SLABs, and the salab must be based on the number of days used, what is the number of days for 500 units?
                Pl advice, I am unable to tollarate this since we had taken lot of initiatives to save power.

                  there was power shutdown in my area very frequently and they give some line connection temporiarly (mainly during sundays ) during night hours.though they give such connections they get the wire needed from the residenciers itself, but one night when i called the eb to give such connection where the connections have been already given to our neighbours they asked me to provide wire since no one was there in my home to get the wire i requested the eb person to get the needed wire for which i would pay but the eb person said me that they will not help me untill i get the wire by myself even they cut my call while i was speaking . i feel they were so irresponsible to get a lady helped in such bad situation.

                  I remitted amount to TNEB for Electricity new domestic connection on 10.07.2008 as per receipt (07 E No.313797)
                  of Rs. 1550/-.

                  Till the date they said that due to the shortage of pole, they are not giving the EB connection to my house.

                  I need a speed solution from TNEB, please do the needful
                  I placed a complaint on 28/05/09 at 11 A.M that One Phase is cut No body attended to the problem till
                  1:30 p.m Only when i went to the E.B office at COLLAGE ROAD and brought the person and payed Rs.100/- to do the work.And again after 5 Minutes the power got cut when again complaint At 2:15 p.m at Nungambakkam E.B office nobody has attended till 5:35 P.M the Problem as till when asked for when we spoke to the A.D of the region insted of asking sorry and solving the problem has stated that he is going to creat even more problems to us and has even stated that he is going to take action on us.If this statement said by the A.d Is wrong please take Proper action

                  The past 2months we have one phase problem in our street. I have complaint several times to the AE No; [protected] to rectify this problem permanently, because we are getting power failure frequently only after 10PM.

                  Regarding the hardship we face in our locality due to regular power failure no action has been initiated so far.And as usual we are having frequent power failures in our street, everyday atleast

                  I live in 13B/30, kaveri salai 2nd cross st, Kodungaiyur. We live in a rented house where there is only single phase. We have the problem of frequent power cut and voltage fluctuation. When we contact the Sembiam EB during power failure the call is always in bus yor it is temporarily out of service. However if they pick the call they treat us so badly as though we are their servants. We have power cuts mostly after 9:00 PM. When we ask them the reason for power cut they will say as cable problem, and we would have the same cable problem more than 3 or 4 times a week. I doubt weather that is the reason, if that is the reason what is the standard of hte cable they use?? This the fate of a citizen of a democratic country. Hope atleast this would be looked into before being ignored.

                    Dear sir,

                    we are staying in pozhichalur, pereri Amman Koil Street, here the main line wire is in a dangerous possition, anytime it ll cut and affect to the people.
                    already we complaint (oral) to the service man and the officer of this pammal branch, but no response from them & still they didnt take any action against for this problem.
                    let us give proper feedback and take action for this...

                      I have bought a second hand flat and i am trying to do the name transfer there is no proper answer from the concerned employee. Also they are looking for name transfer from Corporation. I dont really understand what is the need to have corporation. I have my sale deed and will that not enough.....

                      Tamil Nadu Electricity Boards wrong meter reading

                      Dear sir/madam,

                      I N.V. Jaganathan, residing at 3/319, 1st floor, 13th street koratur chennai 80. This is regarding the EB person wrote down wrong advance meter reading number which has not come yet and mentioned to pay advance amount and disconnected for nonpayment this happening second time mentioning the same meter reading and to pay minimum amount.
