[Resolved]  Tamilnadu Electricity Board (TNEB) — Penalty charged for one day delay

Sub: Refund of Penalty paid for one day late payment of EB Charges Ref: EB Connections held in the name of my wife Mrs Kamakshi Ramachandran 3 Nos.[protected],[protected],[protected] I would like to bring to your kind consideration the following facts : For the above connections, the EB due date is 30th June 2014 and I have paid the Bimonthly EB consumption amount on 1st July 2014, and the details are as follows : 1. EB No.[protected] EB Charge : Rs.2, 415.00 Plus Late Fee Rs.78.00 Total Rs.2493.00 Rcpt Nos.4610155 2. EB No.[protected] EB Charge : Rs. 20.00 Plus Late Fee Rs.61.00 Total Rs. 81.00 to 4610157 3. EB No.[protected] EB Charge : Rs. 610.00 Plus Late Fee Rs.65.00 Total Rs. 675.00 From the above you will observe that I have paid a late fee of Rs.204.00 for the total amount of Rs.3, 045/- and in the case of Sl. No.2 a penalty of Rs.60/- for a minimum of Rs.20/-. For one day delay I feel a penalty of Rs.204/- is very much on the higher side. On verifying the TNEB website, the penalty tariff detail was not available. As you may be aware, the due date is 30th June 2014, which is the last day of the month and middle class people like me will not have have sufficient money to pay and are totally dependent on the salary, every month. Please take this into consideration on humanitarian grounds and reverse the penalty paid by me. Thanking you,
