I have got my father-in-law, for treatment for his lung cancer. The facilties here are extremely deplorable where the ptient himself has to run from one corner to the other, extremely mis-bahaved staff who think themselve as god-gift to mankind who dnt even know basic ethicates to speak to a notmal person, leave alone a cancer patient. Extremely disappointed.

This complain regarding a NSF security name G.S.Dhakane
Last Saturday my patient admitted here in semi private, bed no 345.
So every evening I brings dinner for him from outside. Same today when I was entering the hospital than the irresponsible security asked me for gate pass. I requested him that "I forgot to bring that but I have the patients Id card, u just check it and let me get in as no one with him and it's too important for me to be there."
But the irresponsible security strated to teach me hospitals rules and showed his finger at me and behave me like a uncivilized, and hold me outside for 30 mints later another security asked me to go.
    My question is...is that dicipline?
    Just unexpected!!!

This is for other patients and their people, and this is in Kolkata. My father, who had lung cancer, stage 4.and was doing well in Mumbai Hinduja, till his 4th chemo. However, I consulted Dr. Rajkumar Shrimali from Tata Medical Centre Kolkata, and on his assurance, shifted him here under his treatment. However,
                1) whenever there was an emergency or chemo side effects, there was usually a NO SHOW from the doctor as he's a busy and responsible person with so much workload !!! My father had to be admitted to other superspeciality hospitals,
                2) As much as you try to reach your doctor in time of emergency or for any enquiry, you are screened out by other assistant or junior docs or receptionists, etc. AND this is a normal procedure here.Just find out.
                3) The doctor was not clear about the treatment plan or the recovery process of a patient. Arrogance and ego guides his behaviour most of the time.
4)The doc shifted my father to another superspeciality hospital as he was going off for a holiday. As a daughter at that moment I never understood that he gave up . After shifting him to the other hospital, , I learnt that my father would not live.

BEWARE OF TATA MEDICAL CENTRE before putting your patient here. I regret my decision as I lost my papa last January and am still licking my fresh wounds !!! Roma

Hi, today I was at TMH where my mom was to have her Biopsy done. We were asked to come by 8 AM...but we're surprised to see around 200 people already waiting for their turn...this was at Golden jubilee building 301 ward...after having waited for over 2 hours, I was shocked to find that since the other patients were getting restless and impatient waiting for their turn, the nurses/staff incharge had walked out of their duty for over 30 min when patients were still waiting...not acceptable and against the code of service...really bad situation to be in...heights

Improper treatment leading to suffering and death
My mother had a small lump on her gums, we immediately took her to Tata hospital. Biopsy was performed twice or thrice and doctors kept saying it is inflammation and not cancer and we were sent home.
In few days it started bleeding heavily and the lump increased much more. Doctors then performed a deep biopsy which revealed that she had sarcoma which is a rare form of cancer in her gums. It was shocking for us to know that such huge hospital could not detect cancer repetitively.
What followed was a series o[censored]ncertain events. It took nearly 8 to 10 days for every report which increased the delay and caused the tumor to grow as big as approx. 8cm*8cm outside her mouth. Now the doctors came back saying its too huge to be operated and she needs to be given chemo.
We repeatedly asked if she is fit for chemo and the doctors assured us that we wont give chemo unless we assess the patient properly. With their assurance and conviction we went ahead with chemo.
She was fine 1 day after chemo and the chemo doctor told us to take her home. We insisted to keep her long since the tumor bled a lot and it was not manageable at home. Her condition became extremely bad starting from second day after chemo. Had we taken her home based on the chemo doctor's advise I don't know what we would have done.
She started getting breathless and xrays/2d echo showed enlarged heart and a valve of heart not functioning well. Again the chemo doctors started throwing it back on us saying that she already had a heart problem which have worsened because of chemo. As per our knowledge my mother never had any heart problem ever. I asked the doctors why didn't they assess her heart condition then before giving chemo for which they didn't have any answer.
She developed all sorts of deficiencies and severe infections. And then started strong doses of continuous antibiotics. Funny thing is in such a state also the chemo doctor was planning for a second chemo round. We fought with the doctors to remove tumor instead of second chemo for which they agreed. Now we were waiting for mom to recover but unfortunately she started getting panic attacks, speaking in sleep and confusion. We suspected its due to strong antibiotics but as per doctor it was her heart problem and they shifted her to ICU for monitoring.
Don't know what happened the first day in ICU that they intubated and put her on ventilator. One doctor told us it was carbondioxide narcosis and other doctors said she went into cardiac arrest. I am still confused what went wrong that day. When she was out of ICU she would get little breathless when she had cough but after cough removal she would be fine. I tried to ask if same could have happened but was told by the doctors to not try to be google doctor.
Post that she developed lung infection, pneumonia, icu related infections, tumor infection etc. ICU doctors told surgeons that the tumor is the main source of fungus infection but the surgeons argued that it cannot be that way as per their experience. However reports proved the surgeons wrong. Don't know where their experience went. They had to perform emergency tumor removal since the fungus from tumor started spreading to the blood. She was in a very bad condition, on ventilator, on IV line, urine catherar etc. still they did a successful surgery and removed the tumor. Why the heck didn't they remove the tumor before giving chemo when my mom was physically fit. Chemo doctors also said the same thing and blamed the surgeons for not performing operation before and referring the patient for chemo. They said that they knew that chemo wont work on such a kind of tumor and left us confused as to why did they even give the chemo then.
Few days later her kidneys stopped functioning, bp went very low, platelets went very low and she couldn't survive. She died in front of my eyes, all her vitals went low. She was not conscious but when I shouted in her ears, she did strain her eyes and tears fell which made us feel that she listened to my voice. We never got to talk to her, discuss how she is feeling. She did have cancer but we could never have suspected that the treatment would cause her death.
She spent over 3 months in that hospital due to all this. She so wanted to come home. But was never able to.
The ICU reported around 10 cases of death in a similar manner in 2 weeks. Patients are unwell when they are brought to ICU. But they really die due to ICU infection and not due to their original illness. The environment outside ICU is also very pathetic. There are bed bugs everywhere. Everyone is coughing, sneezing. We could sense a huge infection spreading around outside ICU as well as inside ICU. Also many others faced similar health problems dues to chemo indicating that they do not perform proper assessment on the patients.
There has to be some audit performed on the ICU conditions, treatments, chemo related patient assessment, chemo medicines etc. to avoid such mishaps. Also the doctors feel offended if they are questioned about their treatment which in an incorrect attitude. So many doctors are new and it feels like the patients are their experiment and learning bodies. No one questions them if some treatment goes wrong or some mortality happens. Someone needs to put a proper check in place.

The general ward has extremely poor hygiene conditions. There are bed bugs on the patient beds as well as on the floor. The bathrooms too are very unclean. I wasnt able to believe that a hospital can have such unhygienic conditions. Have seen this in women general ward. Not sure if same persists in all wards but chances are high. Please action asap.

My friend is suffering from blood cancer (leukemia) and his condition is also critical but he is kept waiting for more than 7 hours just to give him blood. He has become very weak and waiting for more than 7 hours as really a tough job for him. He was written all the unnecessary tests and he is under the Private Tata memorial unit which is very expensive but still the services rendered is pathetic.

My mother is really unwell as she is detected Metastasis Cancer when she was in Australia.. The kind of treatment we received at the time of registration and admission was pathetic.. and to highlight the worse was the emergency casualty ward where a person in sev 1 critical condition is made to wait outside the ward for 40 mins and no one to look at... on questioning the authority so called nurses on duty the only response one would get "bahaar rookho... bulate hai"...

i fired the out of them after 40 mins wait and left to get her admitted in holy family bandra.. finaly got someone who treats patients like humans and not vegetables...

I suggest we close this hospital as it only impacts the reputation of the legendary Tata family... i voiced out.. dont think the thousands who undergo this humiliation everyday wil ever..

Its really a clear case of mismanagement at tata cancer hospital general opd's, especially the Uro oncology department
Patient are treated rudely & been made to run from pillar to post.
Made to stand in multiple que's without any outcome.
They call patient in the morning at 8 : 00am in the morning and the file i moved from dept to department like a muncipal office

Then in late evening they tell the patient to come on some other day without giving any treatment plan.
They say our senior consultant come for a brief time hence we cannot discuss all the files in meetings with them

Its like Tata Hospital me TAREEK pe TAREEK MILTI HAI Par Treatment nahi milta jaldi.
There is such a long gestation period that the patient would die.
I am suffering from tongue cancer and i have no addiction but still i am suffering.
now it is one month that i am visiting tata hospital
.I have taken general ward as i dont have too much money for my treatment.

whatever test doctor told me i have completed now it is time to give me a date for my operation

now they are simply ignoring me and they want me to do it from outside and outside it cost lakhs.

even i have to do plastic surgery and everyone knows plastic surgery cost a lot.

i dont think tata hospital helps poor people they simply ignore them and take them to last stage of cancer.
My father is been suffering from liver cancer, and yes I agree with the fact the way they treat people is really pathetic. There should be some kind of body who can look over there activities or at least can take some action if we complaint. Yes I actually underwent through a quarrel with a lady over there who was a secretary sitting out of OPD, but poor me I couldn't complaint as I was not knowing any specific POC. But I think they should behave.

Moreover, the doctors asking me to take a date to take my father for TACE, but when i asked them the question can you please tell me the number of tumours and their sizes, so i have got a reply we have to check that?

I was surprised doctor replying in this manner and asking patients family to take the decision on this. This is not the way one should deal. And its been 12 days I am continuously following up and waiting for the CT scan reports to come where in I can get the idea what treatment should be given.

I am a person who is doing lot of research, I wonder what they might be doing of normal people who might not be searching or taking recommendations from other doctors.

What would you think now for Tata memorial Hospital ?

Wherein the patients family is alreday mourning with all the pains and tata people behaving in this manner? there is no POC to which we can complaint. I would only request open you eyes and think well before you go to tata memorial.

And there is not any email id on which we can complaint?
I don't know whether anyone goes through these comments or not. I would like to request the Tata authority to please train your doctors to be friendly with patients relatives. Your policy says we are free to question the doctored but wen we do that doctors don't take it in a positive way. If parents are educated they wil definitely question you and they have complete right to do that. Once you question the doctor you get in their hit list and they start ignoring you. I think you need to arrange workshops for doctors on how to behave with patients relatives. This disease is not easy to digest so the relatives are also disturbed. If possible kind look into it and be approachable.
no one will ever reply or even bother to look at these complaints. Waste writing here.
