Updated by Karthik Kumar Somasundaram My story of how I got it resolved:
1. Tata sky call center promised me that they wouldn't charge a penny and sent the same technician.
2. He inspected again (of course he was guided by somebody on call this time) and tried changing LNB. Nothing happened.
3. He took the set top box to a nearby dealer's place to check. He found that the problem replicates with only our set top box.
4. He said the set top box has to be replaced and it would cost around RS. 650.
5. I called the call center agent back. He said that this was because it is over warranty. So I asked him how the agent has concluded this even without doing a software upgrade. To this he asked me for a day's time to take away the set top box.
6. We noted the set top box serial number, he took it away, upgraded the software and returned it. Everything is now fine.
All channels are working perfectly. We happily lived ever after.
I came to know this upgrade option through googling but I wonder how many o[censored]s do it.
