Thyrocare — incorrect reports

Website:www.thyrocare.com

I got my fever profile done from thyrocare on 8th august and i got my reports on 9 the august.
And my laptospira was positive as per the report. Based on the report, it was concluded that i have lapto and was moved to the hospital in the night at 4 am.
I was hospitalized for 5 days there. The very next day after my hospitalizion, dr suspected that i couldn't be having lapto and he got my same test done again and it was negative.
I am sure the count cannot change in 24 hrs this drastically. I really doubt all the reports that my family and i have been relying on from thyrocare.
My treatment for lapto had already been started based on the reports untill we got another test done. Its like u take chemo therapy even when u don't have cancer.

I am glad it came out to be negative the second time i got it done. It amazes me, how could they not check before publishing number. Secondly what if a person is lapto positive and because of your carelessness, its marked negative. The person could die!.

I escalated this to their team and below is the reply i get from them :-

Dear sir/madam

Thank you for your kind reply and feedback.
We have investigated your case in accordance with our organization complaint procedure. Our findings and conclusions are explained below.

The original test values reported for your sample were reviewed, verified, confirmed and then released, so there was no technical error at any stage (The original values are attached herewith).
We have a strict quality control procedures for each and every test parameter 24x7, 365 days continuous monitoring system.
There was no quality control related issue on the day of analysis, which was reviewed by us again as part of root cause analysis. We would also like to mention here that, no case of sample mismatch involved because we have stringent measures in place and follow unique bar coding system to distinguish each and every specimen.

Explanation for your concern
Leptospirosis, an infection caused by bacteria spirochete which occurs in human when directly exposed to urine of infected animals or a urine polluted environment.
The bacteria gain access to human body through cuts, abrasions, or mucus membrane through contact with contaminated vegetation's and water. Also, there are less likely chances of transmission of leptospirosis from human to human.
The classical symptoms of leptospirosis includes fever accompanied by chills, intense headache, muscle ache, abdominal pain, red eye effect, and a skin rash.
Usually, the values of the falling within the range of 9-11 are considered equivocal which means antibody against antigen could not detect clearly. It is recommended to repeat the test with a fresh sample in 2-4 weeks.
It is to keep in mind that single test should not be the basis for diagnosis of an infectious disease. Consideration of clinical history, symptomatology as well as serological data (Elisa lp-m) test must be correlated.
We would also like to mention here that cytomegalovirus, trepenoma palladium infection may also results in false positive igm antibody result.
It should also be noted that igm antibodies if directed against leptospira generally remain detectable in blood for months or years but at a low titer.
As seen in your case, the values fall in borderline positive. Hence repetition with the fresh sample is recommended. Also,
We request you to consult physician before coming to any conclusion. As detailed history, thorough clinical examination and correlation with other tests would be required before you are diagnosed with any health condition.

Thyrocare was purely into diagnostics and we do not provide consultation as a policy.
In conclusion, we assure that the reports which you have received from thyrocare is reliable and authentic.

We hope we have addressed your query up to your satisfaction.

If there are any other ways that we can serve you better at this time or in the future please let us know.

Thank you for your invaluable support
