Tokri.com — Misleading ad, quality, service follow-up

I saw this huge one-page ad in a leading English daily and decided to give TOKRI.com a try (but only of the printed items and of freebies @ Rs1 during checkout. Let’s take this item wise.

1. Red Label tea 1 kg worth MRP Rs 430 at a discounted rate of Rs 390 plus 2 kg tokri sugar free.
The packaging by the company Brooke Bond shows clearly a marked down pricing to MRP Rs 390, so no discount is actually given by Tokri.com. Most malls and even the online biggies have this 2kg sugar free, but they provide branded sugar. What I got from Tokri.com was grayish in-house packed sugar in a thin plastic pack that had a tear, and ½ kg sugar must have leaked into their delivery box.
2. Elina Rice 1 kg (not Daawat as tooted) is already under company promo (available in practically every provision outlet and with online platforms) with the buy 2 + 3 free offer, so Tokri.com cannot claim giving their customer a discount of three free packets.
3. Haldiram’s namkeen range, I did order 4 varieties and differing pack sizes and here the discount given was 14.4% (not exactly 15% as printed).

On the above order (#19694 dated 31/07/16 and delivered 01/08/16), the total discount actually given is Rs 52 (as against the company invoice that states a discount of a whopping Rs 572).
The advertisement also stated that the customers can choose among five listed items for just Rs 1 during checkout (but does not mention the items are as per billing valuation). I did increase my billing to cross Rs1000 so as to claim the ‘Tur Dal imported’ worth Rs165, but was sent instead a package of paneer (cottage cheese). When I called up their customer helpline @ [protected] (I shall refrain from naming the lady), she confirmed the faux and stated the item would be delivered. It wasn’t despite repeated reminders.

So would I be giving this Tokri.com a second try? A definite NO going by first impressions, and a definite NO to even any recommendations. TOKRI has given the impression of a make-quick-buck startup, so my advice would be to stick with the tried and tested BASKET.
