Tommy Hilfiger — poor quality sweater

I bought a sweater of tommy hilfiger brand a year ago for my toddler but without even using, it has got lint all over. I tried speaking with the shopkeeper but he refused to exchange it. Kindly guide me how can i get compensation because being expensive it has got worst quality. If we pay so high and even without using it develops lints then what is the benefit of buying branded clothes??? It is worse than local brands. It simply means that these type of brands exploits consumer and their rights.
