Torrent Power — Security deposit demanded from tenant

I have taken a home on lease. There was a security deposit overdues before I took the house on rent. However I was regular on my bill payments. This month there was a delay in payment as I went to my hometown on account of my marriage. Now the torent power company has cut the line and asking for entire deposit amount. My landlord refuses to pay. Is it the liability of the tenant to bear the security deposit amount. The tenant like me is not even getting reminders as the registered number is of owner. Is it such a crime to take a house on lease to be punished in such ways where I have always been regular on my payments
