Heavy Traffic jams at Goregaon East area
There are always heavy traffic jams during
peak hours in the Goregaon East area, especially on the Goregaon Check Naka to
Goregaon East Railway station stretch of the road. The main reason for it is that
the vehicles are allowed to turn right at Udipi Vihar Hotel junction.
Many vehicles coming via Western
Express Highway from South Mumbai to Malad West area take a left turn at
Goregaon Check Naka, move towards Goregaon Railway station East and take a
right turn at Udip Vihar Hotel after St Pius Seminary. Since there are always
many vehicles coming from Goregaon Railway Station East to Check Naka, the vehicles
coming from Western Express Highway have to wait at the Udipi Vihar Hotel
junction for the right turn. These vehicles block the way of the BEST buses,
taxis, auto rikhaws, cars and other vehicles desirous of going straight towards
the Goregaon East Railway station. Moreover, there are tree branches and trunks
on the left side of this narrow road which prevents BEST buses from remaining towards
extreme left side of the road.
It is requested that during peak
hours (8 am to 9 pm) the right turn at the Udipi Vihar Hotel may be prohibited
for vehicles coming from the Goregaon Check Naka. These vehicles can go further
and take left turn at Oberoi Mall Junction for going towards Malad East area.
This will ease the traffic load on narrow Goregaon Check Naka to Goregaon
Railway station East stretch of the road.
