Upgrad — Cheated 4 lakhs fee for a useless course

Website: upgrad.com

Hi,

They have hired people who spread misinformation and promise people lucrative pay for successful referrals. I got trapped in this, thinking I would receive an MBA degree from Liverpool University. I joined, and they promptly enrolled me in a no-cost EMI plan.

After one month of joining, I realized it was a scam. The platform only had pre-recorded sessions. Everything they offered could be availed elsewhere with much better quality content for around INR 50, 000.

At first, I let it go and pushed myself to complete the course, which I eventually did. I once tried to ask for a refund, but they said they couldn’t do that. I was frustrated but kept going in the hope of receiving a degree.

Later, I came to know that the degree has no value in the market. They give you three months to complete a final project and promise to assign a mentor. In my case, the mentor didn’t bother whether I submitted the assignment or not. The support team didn’t respond either.

Eventually, I gave up. I didn’t email them or complain anywhere. They never reached out to check whether I existed or not. My ₹4 lakhs, my time, and my trust were all wasted.

I was discussing this with one of my friends, and he suggested that I should at least file a complaint on the consumer forum. All of this happened during 2022–2023. Today, I saw many complaints about this platform. I wonder how this company still exists and how thousands of young minds are still being cheated.

I feel sad and have little hope that anything will happen.
