Upgrad — Complaint against Upgrad for forced admission, misrepresentation and financial harrasment

Respected Sir/ Ma'am,

I am filing this complaint against upGrad for
unethical admission practices, continuous misrepresentation, and financial harassment, which have caused me significant emotional and financial distress.

In 2023, an upGrad admission counselor repeatedly forced me into joining their MBA program, despite my clear refusals and informing him that I did not have the financial means. He unethically completed the admission process himself and arranged for the admission fee to be paid—just to secure the admission.

After the course started and I became aware of misguiding and false information given to me about the course structure, EMI policies, and withdrawal options, I immediately requested cancellation of my admission and withdrawal from the program. I was not attending or studying in the course from the beginning.

I raised my withdrawal request via multiple emails, and despite over 5 months of continuous follow-ups, upGrad refused to cancel the admission, citing the course had already started. Eventually, I became mentally exhausted and stopped following up further.

Now, it's been more than 2 years, and:

I have not pursued the course at all

I have gained no educational or financial benefit

My credit score has been severely damaged due to continuous EMI defaults on a loan I never wanted

I am still being harassed by the finance company to pay the EMIs for a service I did not use

It is unjust and unethical to hold a consumer liable for a course they were manipulated into and never participated in.

My Request for Relief:

1. Immediate cancellation of admission and closure of my account with upGrad

2. Full waiver and cancellation of any outstanding EMIs or loan obligations

3. Correction of my credit score with appropriate communication from upGrad and its finance partner

4. Action against the counselor for manipulation and fraudulent behavior

5. Compensation for emotional distress and credit damage

I am attaching all supporting documents and email communications for your review.

I request the forum to take urgent action and deliver justice in this matter
