I am was looking for a Doctorate course and UpGrad approached me on 28 March stating that they have a good course being offered by the Swiss School of Business Management (SSBM) and the degree would be offered by the University of Zagreb. They forced me to make the payment on Sunday evening as the application last date was 31 March and seats were filling quickly. They did not let me do the reference check with the school too and I had to make the payment of INR 25000 for the application of Doctorate degree. Next day I wrote to the college and verified the information given to me by the UpGrad and came to know it was false information. I immediately canceled my application and requested for the refund on 30 March before the last date. I spoke to the advisor (Debayan Roy) too (who gave me all this information and also forced me to make the payment else I will lose the opportunity), he told me that in 10 business days I shall receive the refund as he has already forwarded my request to the finance team. However, when 12 days were passed and I wrote an email to him, he mentioned that he will take 30 business days to refund the money. They broke their promises and also gave me false information every time. Hence, I feel that current information given to me is also false and misleading again and I will not get refund from them. They will keep giving me the same excuse every time as I have seen other complaint registered against them today. They have done this with everyone.
I therefore, request your help to lawfully get it resolved and get me the damages for this mental agony and torture they did to me. I have to make the payment to book my seat in the university and I am unable to do so as I do not have enough money. Also government should not allow them to do any business.
