I went for my father's cataract surgery on 22nd Dec 2025 @ Vasan Eye Care, Marathalli, Bangalore. Before the surgery we had a detailed discussion with the co-ordination & TPA staff regarding my insurance coverage & that we would want the cost to be covered through insurance without incurring any additional charges. After a detailed discussion with the respective staff members, estimate was shared with my Insurer & I spoke to them personally as well. They said there is no capping of amount for mono-focal Indian lenses. The TPA staff did not mention that it's an imported lens in the pre-approval form & pre-approval of Rs 28000/- was given to us. After the surgery when the final invoice was submitted, the technical name of the lens was mentioned along with the detail of this being an imported lens. Due to this lapse at the TPA's end we had to shell out RS. 27000/- from our pocket for a surgery which is 100 percent covered with cashless option in my insurance. Had the TPA staff mentioned correctly in the pre-approval form we would have taken an informed decision whether to go for this or not. Need re-imbursement of the additional amount from hospital. Have to go for another eye's surgery for my father so need this resolution at the earliest so that we take a decision whether to choose this hospital or some other.
