Voltas — complaint regarding overcharging, misbehavior and non-issuance of bill by voltas service team

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the highly unprofessional service experience I recently faced with the service team of Voltas during the installation/service of my Voltas air conditioner.

During the visit, the technician charged excessively inflated prices for basic installation materials. The same product that is available in the market for approximately ₹100 was charged around ₹300 by the technician. Similarly, copper piping which normally costs around ₹700 per meter (approximately ₹230 per feet) was charged at nearly ₹450 per feet, and GST was further added on top of these already inflated prices.

What is even more concerning is that the technician himself admitted that if the same items are purchased directly from the market, they are available at almost half the price. However, customers are discouraged from doing so by stating that the warranty will not apply if the materials are not arranged through the technician. At the same time, the technician claims that they procure the same items from the same market shops but charge customers significantly higher rates. This practice appears unfair and gives the impression of monopolistic pricing and exploitation of customers.

Apart from the overcharging, the behaviour of the service staff and customer support was extremely disappointing. When I raised concerns about the excessive charges and requested clarification, the interaction became rude and dismissive. The matter was escalated to the service manager, whose response was shockingly unprofessional, stating words to the effect of “jo karna hai kar lo, ” which is unacceptable from representatives of a reputed brand.

Additionally, despite repeated requests, no authenticated bill or proper invoice for the materials and charges has been provided to me even after 7 days. This raises serious concerns about transparency and billing practices.

As a customer, I expected professionalism, transparent pricing, and respectful behaviour from a brand like Voltas. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite.

Therefore, I request the following:

A detailed and authenticated bill/invoice for all the materials and service charges that were taken from me.

Clarification of the official price list for installation materials such as copper pipe and other accessories.

A review of the conduct of the technician and the manager involved in this incident.

Appropriate action to prevent such overcharging and misconduct from happening with other customers.

I request your immediate attention to this matter and expect a prompt resolution.
