So my 1 year 2 months old whirlpool fridge stopped working on 12th April 2022. and i called up to whirlpool tollfree. they assigned a technician and not to my surprise the tech visited the same day and told me that my PCB has gone bad and along with the compressor. it was evident that he was telling me all this due to my fridge being out of warranty and it was the best chance for him to make money. I being an electronics engineer myself could see that his diagnosis took less than 5 mins. since i do not have a lot of time in my hand i asked him to fix it. this made him chuckle with joy and he asked me to wait till next day, the price at this point he told me was : 3800 with complete repair + some 600 rs service charge. even though i was being scammed, i said ok as this time of the year in Delhi its impossible to live without fridge.
Next day on 13th April 2022, i got a call from tech and surpassingly the cost of 3800 was of PCB and since the compressor was bad too it will be replaced with a new one but i have to bear the charge for Gas which will be 1800. total cost now : 3800+2200+600 = 6600
for anyone this is insane and i did argue with him but then again summer heat etc etc. i said ok, the next thing he did proved me right that it was a sophisticated scam because he asked me to send him 2000 rs as advance on gpay/phonepay saying without advance warehouse will not send replacement parts. i called up whirpool and they gave me number to a service manager who turned out to as helpless as me. he intervened and said sir this will be done in a day. current date 13th April 2022.
as of today 20th April 2022, no one from Whirlpool tried contacting me. when i called the service technician he said he has no idea when compressor will arrive, it may take a day, a week, a month, only god knows what kind of incompetent folks are running the show here and i am ready to through this piece of junk for which i paid 30K last year. anyone from whirlpool should know how their brand name is being used to wipe the floor by these 3rd party vendors who have no empathy, no work ethics, no willingness to help the customer if customer does not send them money on phone pay or gpay in advance. it was a learning experience for me and i will be posting this review to every possible forum i find online and let the world know what king of a joke this company is.
dear consumers, pls do not fall for this brand as this will only lead to being scammed and left alone with a faulty product and one unethical, uncultured moron calling the shots for your asset which you bought from your hard earned money.
