Xiaomi India — phone under warranty. no replacement being offered for the power button not working with an excuse that water has gone

This is to inform that i purchased red mi 3s phone last year in aug 2016 and the product is under warranty. My phone's battery got drained out and it got switched off, when i showed in the service center they informed my power button not working, water has gone so no warranty can be claimed. We have not even used the phone for 1 year and we are being told that the phone can be corrected by paying 6k and phone cost is 9k.
