I had booked my return travel tickets to San Francisco through yatra's online portal www.yatra.com and paid a consideration of Rs. 1, 02, 080/- (Rs. One Lac Two Thousand And Eighty Only) for the same. That prior to booking the travel tickets from them, I was constantly in touch with your customer care executive, after the transaction got failed when I was trying to book online. The executive did not inform me that additional visa is required for my to and fro travel to San Francisco even though my flight had layovers/stopovers and it was no where mentioned on the site also that I would require a schenzen visa.
After which, I booked my tickets on 27th June 2015. That within an hour of booking the ticket, I was informed by them that I would require a Transit Visa for my return flight from Toronto-Mumbai which had Munich and Zurich as stopovers.
That shocked and surprised by such information, I promptly inquired from Lufthansa Airlines and German Embassy about the Visa requirements who told that I would require a full fledged Schengen Visa and not just Transit Visa, which was later agreed upon by Yatra's visa department.
In my complaint wide reference id YT14828616, dated 29.06.2015 repeatedly asked for help from Yatra's customer care executive as I had submitted my original documents in Canadian Embassy for grant of Visa which takes around 20-25 days in processing and applying for Schengen Visa at that juncture was not possible as that would take a month and she was flying to San Francisco on 14th August 2015.
That expecting support and apologies from yatra, I wrote numerous e-mails to yatra expressing my grievance which fell on deaf ears as I wanted to change my flight of travel without paying cancellation fee that the same entails.
That due to yatra's incompetency, I had to cancel my tickets and re-book the same for different dates and shell out Rs.17, 000(Rs. Seventeen Thousand Only) as cancellation fee.
That since it was yatra's fault that the Visa requirements were not effectively communicated to me either prior to or during the ticket booking, yatra has caused great harassment to me including monetary loss.
even after sending the legal notice there is no response from Yatra.
